If you want a sportscar...do not buy a CT200. If you want a big car... Dont buy a CT200. But... If you want to buy a good car... A confortable car.. A luxury car... Buy the CT200. You will have an exellent car.
Reliability is perfect. I have this car now 2 years and i never had a problem, even not small one. Also maintenance of this car is cheap. The best car I ever had until now.
Several years ago I bought a 2011 CT200h. It now has 135,000 miles on it. Other than brake pads/rotors and periodic oil changes, I've had no problems at all! Hands down, most reliable car I have ever owned. Yes it can be annoyingly slow; whenever I need to merge onto a freeway, I dial the car the car into sport mode, then put it back into eco mode. The car is meant to be driven smoothly, maximizing fuel consumption. And yes for the record, I have white hair!
I've seen a lot of reviews, but never seen a review like this (in a positive way) Very honest, normal behaviour. I have the same car and you described exactly what I feel. Really, thumbs up mate.
I don’t think the ride is smooth, the tire pressure setting is too high imo. Even with the 16 inch wheels it rides kinda harsh. I get it it’s for economy, maybe the next set of tires will change it.
@@Cloud007. you have one? I had a Prius and the chair itself is manufactured in a strange, tucked in position that feels very unnatural. Curious to know if the CT is the same.
I bought a used 2013 CT Premier S @ 24k miles about a year ago and I absolutely love it. One of the best things about it, as you touched on in the video, is how it encourages you to drive in a state of zen like meditation while trying to maximize your average mpg. Which at the same time results in a very pleasant and comfortable ride, it's like the car tells you how it wants to be driven and if you work with it, it's an absolute pleasure. Even the voice of the satnav lady is calming. I doubt anyone driving a CT has ever had road rage. A couple of minor issues though: - I find the seat horrible. My daily commute is just over an hour each way and by the end of it I invariably have back ache. I bought a lumbar support which helps a little but it's still uncomfortable. - The rear passenger electric window seems to have lost it's zero point and thinks it's home position is 2/3rds of the way down. To close it I have to manually creep it up until it reaches the seal, but if I go 1mm too far it takes itself back down to 2/3 and I have to start over. - I think a little bit of plastic has broken off inside the indicator stem and sometimes when I switch from right to left indicator, eg when coming off a roundabout, I hear the most horrible sounding crunch. One time it must have got stuck in the wrong place and I couldn't turn the left indicator off again. - The cruise control doesn't know about the assisted-braking mode. If you turn cruise control on whilst in B it confuses the hell out of itself. The other factor that was a big plus for me was the safety rating and the fact that it has something like a dozen air bags. Often having young children in the back this was a primary concern and the CT ticked the box. I'm surprised you had to change the brake pads. As I understand it, when you brake mildly it actually just engages the generator to slow down the car and recharge the battery. It's only when you brake harshly that it engages the physical brakes. As a result, if you drive it well, the brake pads will last basically forever. Lastly, I'm 34 and only a tiny bit grey :)
Hi, they're great cars. I loved mine. It doesn't make sense, because I shouldn't like this kind of car, but its so calming and relaxing. That has just made a lot of sense about the comfort of the drivers seat. For the last year I've had a bad back, which I blamed on my mattress, but Ive not had any pain since I sold the CT - that must have been the culprit and I had no idea!! One thing that annoyed me slightly about the indicators was that they didn't have that feature that most cars have nowadays where if you tap them, they stay on for a couple of clicks for a lane change. Its a small issue but I was surprised that a Lexus didn't have that feature. Overall though it was a pleasure to own, and Id probably have another
100% I have 45k on my car. I work at a Honda dealership and most Hondas need brakes around this time. Had mine checked yesterday and are still at 60%. So nice!
Just saw this, I bought mine a 2014 3 years ago with 57,000 miles and factory brakes. I now have 153000 miles and the mechanic says my brakes are still in great shape. I love the car for all the long distance driving I do. The only thing I've had to do is standard maintenance.
Bought my Lexus a week ago, love it so far! I find myself driving much more mindfully, cruising around without rushing, just enjoying the ride in the beautiful interior and keeping the EV light on as long as i can 😁
I bought one today, and like you, IDK WHY, but I am happy with my purchase! I live 40 miles N of Houston, TX and drive into Houston for work in the Texas Medical Center. My other considerations were an Audi A3, Mercedes C Class, BMW i3....I have had a Prius before, loved it, but like you, I am not an organic vegan, granola eating yuppie to be fund wrapped around a tree! Ultimately, it is practical and like me! We are older, pretty on the inside and we have miles behind us with a lot more miles to travel! BTW my last car which was a total loss in a car collision was a Miata! I love your humor and your video review is on-point!
@@thegame123ize Well, Prius will gives you spontaneous mpg and more stuff and people to carry. But on Canyon and with top down; wind blowing in your face. That's priceless. 3rd gen has same engine I think 1.8l so, Miata is known for light weight sport car. Toss around like go carts and smiling going through turns make you doesn't want to sell it.
No it has the best "CVT" gearbox ever invented. Its also the most reliable automatic gearbox ever invented. Its also the least maintenance intensive drivertrain ever. Even manual gearbox drivetrains need to change out clutches, synchro rings, even some of the gears themselves rarely survive past 300k miles. The toyota HSD have been known to last over 600k miles with minimal maintenance.
I feel that the main problem with this car was the entry price. For a top spec version in the UK they were around £30,000, which is too much when you consider what you’re actually buying… the used market for these are popping and they do retain their value well. The sweet spot is 2014-2016 reg as you pay £0 road tax and they had an upgrade in 2016. The 2018 appears to have a few more upgrade features but when you account for the tax being paid each year alongside the inflated price tag it’s not worth it, in my opinion. For around £12,000 you can pick up a decent spec 2014-2016 model with under 50,000. Good buy if you’re a city driver or doing a reasonable commute and want a small hatchback.
I think this is going to feel like a Ferrari if I switch to it from my 1.0 manual Yaris with it's allmighty 63 horsepower. Gotta love the Toyota reliability!
I have Yaris 2008 1.3l petrol did 50k miles on it since I bought it at 2016 and never had any problems apart left rear wheel bearing which becomes noisy so I have to replace it for 120£ and that's it. Also thinking of buying ct200h but 2yar old with 20k miles and I am 38 at the moment not that old I think. 😃
that yaris may be about the same power to weight ratio as it will be about half the power at 63bhp to 800kg for the manual while the lexus 139 bhp but almost double the weight about 14 or 1500kg
Bought a CT200h today after watching this - was worried about the "firm" ride but completely agree with you - it's perfectly comfortable unless you're coming from a S500. If you want something with power, there's plenty else out there. But as an all rounder, absolutely fantastic and delighted - cheers for reviewing HPA!
Would you say there's enough leg room in the back for the CT 200H to be used as a private hire vehicle? They are much better looking than the Prius and run on the same hybrid system.
Had the CT when it first came out, and then upgraded to the 2017 F-Sport version (wanted that revised look with the spindle grille) and got rid of it for a damn RAV4 SUV SE Hybrid...and although it had more leg room in the rear, I simply wasn't a fan of how it drove. Switched back to the 1st gen CT in the F-Sport Special Edition trim and extremely happy with the decision. As you pointed out, it's extremely sluggish on acceleration and trying to overpass anyone on an on-ramp is next to impossible, but I've found that once you get it up to speed and build some momentum, it behaves really well at higher speeds - especially in Sport Mode. Great review!
How bad is the power actually sir??! all of you guys pointed out this flaw! i am considering switching from my 2009 1.9tdi VW golf mk5 estate with 105ps, and those 105 horses were more than fine for me to be honest..i also drove a baseline BMW 316i F30 with 136ps which felt enough powerful but the maintenance was expensive like all BMWs, so how sluggish is the CT??
@@cortex1347 Well to start let me just say that I've never driven the VW TDI or the BMW you had, but, considering the horsepower numbers appear to be somewhat similar I can say with confidence that CT isn't going to win any 0-60 times, however, it is peppy in Sport Mode and once it's up to speed I've personally never had any issues doing triple digits. It is a slug from a dead stop and merging power is lacking - I have noticed there is a "sweet spot" in the rev range that would help that out....just takes some getting used to. I found myself ignoring the lack of power from the solid MPGs and combination of nimble handling.
Yes, I thought he was wrong about the sport mode. My wife has one of these and loves it. I like to drive it too and it’s only let her down once: that was earlier this week when we had a cold morning and the 12v battery was struggling. It started eventually and I’ll change the battery tomorrow. It’s in the boot like my old mini!
There's a reason it has some of the best second hand residuals on the market. Reliable, cheap to run, amazing quality and kit. Toyota and Lexus are the only dealers i've ever encountered that aren't total cunts when it comes to servicing either.
As I finished watching the video, what did I see underneath but an advert for a Stannah Stairlifts! I must be watching too many of your Lexus reviews lately 😂 Great review btw.
For a period of time I owned a VW Lupo 3L TDI. 61 hp and a gearbox that took ages to shift. A few years prior to this I used to ride with my friend in his 1979 VW Golf Diesel. 0-60 mph in a couple of minutes... Well, I might get myself one of these CT's next week.
You can leave the climate control on whatever you fancy and sleep in the back. It's the greatest generator ever created quite honestly. Great micro camper.
Had one of these for a while and loved it. I don't agree in saying it has no power and a bad gearbox - to me that misses the point of it. It's not trying to be a sports car, anything but in reality. It is so well put together compared to anything else in its class and is fantastically smooth and comfortable. There is enough power for 99% of every day driving situations and the gearbox really suits the way you're supposed to drive the car. If you want a car which pins you in the back of your seat buy something else but if you want to waft around a small, well built and fantastically reliable car it's great for the money.
I agree. I liked it. Its a great city car. Perfect for around town. Luxurious and reliable. It struggles up hills though. I just wish they did a slightly faster model then it would be perfect
I imported a 2017 CT200h with 14k km à year ago from Germany. Paid 26k for the top of the line spec model with sunroof, ML stereo, 10 inch infotainment screen, 17 inch wheel, led headlights, etc. The car is comfortable, reasonably quick in sport mode and so far it's been reliable. The lexus dealers treat their customers with respect, which is what I did not experience with Mercedes and BMW.
I probably made one of the most drastic switches here. Before I bought my ct200 I owned a GT86. Growing up with racing movies like fast and furious, watching drifting clips with for example an AE86 and being born in 1986 I just had to get one. Thinking I was cool, trying to score with the ladies I did some irresponsible driving like drifting around roundabouts and driving really fast on empty roads during the night. The ladies didn’t like that recklessness and I was anything but cool by acting like this. The car was to stressful to use for daily commute to work, always getting annoyed by how slow other people were driving. All that car wanted to do was drive fast and it was always encouraging you to do so or do some other reckless showing off like spinning the tires or drifting. I could get in super relax and always got out pumped up with adrenaline and a level of being annoyed or even angry. To stressful for daily commute and to impractical for going out in the weekends since I never drink and was always the designated driver. But then couldn’t really transport any people in my 2+2-seater. Honestly, I hated that car but it took me a long time to realize that, still thinking I was mister cool and popular. Having some close calls with near accidents and knowing I would at least get caught and fined someday I decided to sell the GT86 and buy a cool looking F-sport white Lexus ct200 with red leather interior. Not knowing anything about hybrids or even Lexus, never haven driving one, not knowing anything about the technology or fuel economy I instantly fell in love with it. I can have the most stressful shitty day of my life but as soon as I get behind the wheel of my ct200 I instantly get totally relaxed. Opposite of the GT86 this car encourages you to drive slow and economic. In the beginning you constantly find yourself looking at the information energy display and you can’t help but smiling every time you see how much fuel you are saving. You can drive this car like any other car and you will get decent mileage by letting the car use its technology. But it won’t take you long before you start adapting a new economic driving style yourself. The car will encourage you and you start making a game out of it to use as little fuel as possible. Calculating when the lights will be red and letting go of the gas pedal well before you hit the intersection will cut off the engine while still moving forward, when the lights turn green again you can accelerate on battery alone doubling your fuel savings. Its like having the advantage of limited fuel savings with a start/stop function that many cars now have plus extra savings when taking off again. I used to get so annoyed by heavy traffic, standing still, moving a few feet, stopping again, moving …but now I’m almost disappointed when I can just keep driving the speed limit. When I do end up in a traffic jam the car switches to battery power and I just cruise along totally relax not getting annoyed my petrol engine needs to start up every 15 seconds or is burning fuel when I’m not moving. Its not a car to be driving sporty but its not as bad as everybody claims, at the line I can pull away from almost everybody with both the electric and petrol engine working together. Other cars with hasty drivers only pass me when I hit the speed limit and they themselves go well over it. When driving normal (or maybe a bit adapted driving normal once your addicted to hypermiling) you will never hear the engine screaming like you do in all of those testing videos with people complaining about the engine noise. Ok with the exception of picking up speed when going on the highway, but once your cruising at highway speed its back to normal again. For comparison if your driving a entry level budget car that has little sound insolation in the engine bay you will have more engine noise for a longer period of time. So its not really the level of noise of the cvt transmission that might bother you its probably more the monotonous sound that it produces, like some people describe it to be more of wining noise. Doesn’t bother me however and again if you want a sportscar buy something else. I consider myself an hypermiler now and the best I can do in this car is 4.1L/100 km or (edit) 68,9 miles/gallon UK. But that’s without doing any highways witch I rarely do, when combined with highways the fuel consumption goes up a bit contradict to conventional cars, let’s say I’ll do about 4,5L/100 km or (edit) 62,77 miles/gallon UK. On average you should be able to get close to that kind of mileage once you have embraced the technology and adapt your driving style a bit. For over 2 years now the display is showing 4,3 L/100 km or (edit) 65,7 miles per gallon UK. Sometimes it still feels like a lot, but it’s very close to the number that’s found in the original brochure for that build year of 3,9 - 4,1 L/100 km or (edit) 72,43 - 68,9 miles/gallon UK. The new brochures however are edited to 4,8 - 5,3 L/100 km or (edit) 58,85 - 53,3 miles/gallon UK. Knowing I’m doing the same or even better than what the brochures says, I can only say that Lexus is being really honest and realistic about their numbers. When looking at other car brands and seeing they claim the same numbers or even lower without using hybrid technology, they are just not being realistic. And yes, a diesel engine, still very popular in Europe can get close to those numbers. But if you drive your diesel car that slow to achieve those numbers and never put your foot down your filters will clog up and you end up destroying your car.
i have my eyes on one 2012 that only have 15k km on it , but it worries me a little so little driving , what does it affect the hybrid part , it looks like it was new from the factory
@@gardini100 Hmm good question, not sure about that. I guess you are worried about the hybrid battery condition because you suspect the car has been standing still for a while, or at least not doing enough miles to keep the battery healthy. Only way to find out is to ask the owner for the maintenance records of the car. Normally all Lexus and Toyota vehicles undergo a “ hybrid battery health check” every time they go In for a big maintenance. The name says what it does, it checks how much capacity the battery still has and you get a complete oversight on how much degradation there is over the lifetime of the car. If the owner doesn’t have any of these records and you are serious about buying the car, then make a suggestion to perform the health check in a Lexus or Toyota dealership. Its not that expensive, the basically just hook up the car to the computer and run a diagnostic. Mine is still in excellent condition, hardly any capacity degradtion, i'm at 80.000 km, around 12.000km a year.
Your figures are wrong in that you have used the US gallon (3.8L) instead of UK gallon (4.5L). Your 4.3L/100km is 65.69 mpg (UK) which is great. The way you write your numbers with commas instead of points shows me you are from the Continent.
I bought 2013 model , ubering the shit out of the car in different weather conditions as I live in Canada Ontario, 50000 km in less than a year , 95 % of customers compliment the car ,. Only changed oil , front light pulp, one fuse , sport mode best performance after 80 km speed , full tank in summer I got 740 km (normal car between 400 to 470 km with same capacity of tank 33 liters) keep in mind hybrid system bring car millage to about 30% less than normal car ( if you have 100000 km in total driven then that actually 30% less which means you have only 70000 km to 80000 km on engine) , breaks change once every 100000 km any go even more , hybrid never a race car but I did somke few cars in sport mode with same engine capacity, yes it's stiff in the road , media system can be upgraded with compatible one from AliExpress for 300usd , best car ever
hosam samar please can you tell me how is the rear space for passengers?? I’m doing also uber in London and I want to buy a Ct200h but I’m not sure if is not to small for doing Uber. Thank you mate
My partner and i are in our 40ts, we drive lexus new lexus we were merc drivers but lexus has the beaten hands down on equality reliability customer service etc. We love our Lexi
I bought a 2016 off a 3 year lease last December and I love this car. Mine is ultrasonic blue with the F-Sport package. I previously owned a Prius for almost 15 years and while I loved her too, this is a huge step up with so much more comfort.
Hi, How does the CT 200H compare with the Prius for back seat leg room? Would you say the CT 200h has enough back seat leg room to be used as a private hire vehicle? Thanks
Any advice on buying used , probably 2011 to 2013 models, one I was looking at had 125k miles on it, would that be concerning for the battery life? Any other things to look out for? Thanks
@@mialora5337 Unfortunately no, the one I was looking at was sold. I keep looking around but it sucks since all cars right now have a exaggerated price tag. I'm going to try to wait it out for a newer car. Luckily I can wait, I know a lot of people need newer cars and are paying thousands over what they were valued at a year ago. Best of luck to you, I hope you find a good reasonably price one.
I have a 2012 F-Sport Special Edition. Aside from the headgasket failure (which is a common failure at around the 80-120k mark on these cars), it's been solid. I'm pretty rough on it and it still takes it like it's nothing, even at 129k miles. It's incredibly comfortable, but it handles pretty good since mine in particular is on BC Racing coilovers. I could not recommend a better car for someone to daily drive. Very comfortable, very practical, great gas mileage, cheap-ish insurance (Still not CHEAP cheap since it's a luxury car), and very reliable. Love my CT to death :)
Do you mean you can't stand people who don't consume animal products, or trendy pretentious loudmouths? These are 2 different things that are often confused and lumped together
doesnt look particularly attractive? Dude this is one of the nicest looking hatches out there, especially with the 17in wheels, I don't understand what you meant lol
I had a Lincoln Town Car which someone wrecked. So I found one of these with low miles black on black 43 mpg solid and reliable. I paid $10k about three months ago. I like a prius but they are ugly and driven by vegans of which I am not. So the Lexus was a better choice for me. If I want to drive fast I can borrow my wife's Lexus GS300.
I've had a CT for 2 years now and love it, around 60 mpg reliable and cheap to run. Its fast enough for me and having had hybrids before the CVT transmission is totally ignored. If the kids don't want them I'm happy as it keeps my insurance down .
Seeing elderly people as a disadvantage is a particularly English thing. In fact after 50 years of motor vehicle ownership it's possible that elderly people may know a thing or two about owning a suitable car. I aspire to be a Lexus owner, just for the sake of not driving an unreliable European vehicle. You can keep your Range Rover or Mercedes, I'd prefer a car that is both fun to drive and not a costly mistake. I'd can't be bothered with people who judge with their eye on status.
Asad S If you don’t want thrills from a car because you can get them from your bike; this is the perfect car for you. It’s very luxurious (as long as you get the top spec model), and it very efficient
Try and get one that's been maintained by Lexus every 10,000 miles or so. If its had a lexus service recently, they will have done a health check on the battery too. Generally though they are very reliable and they rarely go wrong. I couldn't tell you of any one thing thats a common issue - which is very rare on a used car!
If you can forgo some luxury touches , you can get a Prius with much more practicality. They are awesome cars, realible as hell. That's why minicab drivers use them.
I thought of getting one of these, yes I have silver hair, but the Autocar review was awful when it was released, versus the Golf for instance………Kylie Minogue promoted it, so they were trying to bring the age down a touch. Watching this in May 2022, it was funny to hear you say that Lexus need to make their cars cool again, like Jaguar……..Jaguar are the verge of collapse and are deciding to go way up market or else they will die….they are just propped by Land Rover. I hope they do well, as I really like Jaguar, the6 are just trying too hard to be BMW and that isn’t gonna work. The really great thing about Lexus IS that they are sooo reliable and older folk have spent their lives in so called exciting cars and they just want something that’ll ever let them down. I wanted one, but the boot is way too small and I was keen on a Civic…..they have the reliability, I get 72mpg and if not really pushed hard, they are really quiet and good to drive, more impressive than the equivalent Golf, but they never seem to sell that well, which is nice for exclusivity. Anyhoo, I’m hooked and I think I’ll be Honda ‘til I die……another brand that caters for the silver haired. Good review.
I used to daily drive my 2011 ct200 to high school everyday (I’m in college now) and everyone at school thought it was cool (mainly because it is black with the darkest tint in history so nobody knew who drove it until I got out/in
Old people buy Lexus's because its taken them years to learn that Lexus make the best cars and they are probably sick of crappy European or English cars.
I have a 2012 model, now at 140000 km (87000 miles). No technical problems so far, just regular maintenance. But I get just over 17 km from a liter, which would be 49 miles from a gallon. First as a company car, attractive because of low tax for private use, later bought it when I left that company.
ghk364 Hi, I usually don’t really like sensible cars like this, but I really grew attached to this one. They’re great cars pleasant to drive. Cheap to run. Lots of extras. Smooth drive
Yep great reliable car. I sold mine for the Lexus is300h, better looking car but the CT interior dash layout and drive felt more comfortable. Had no trouble with it in 4 years.
You like the car because it is well built/ not fancy. Does what it needs to do and is of high quality. Lexus AKA Toyota have a production process called TQM / CQI. If you look them up you will see why they ahead of almost any manufacturer. I would argue they are ahead of every manufacturer. If they bring out an all elctric car- Tesla best watch out. These guys have shown the way for a long time amd we will see if new players bnechmark Toyota as the standard or become an also-ran car manufacturer.
I watch a lot of your videos. I really like your presenting style, it's like you're telling a story. No waffle, cover the things that matter, and reviewing then used cars is so much better for people in the used car market. I'm glad you hate twitter.
Sean Corker I just purchased used she is great just wondering do I need to get a transmission flush after 100k just asking because my last car transmission went out and no one ever mentioned a flushed
I love CT200H 🥰 I got one it’s already 1400k mileage and still good , saves a lot of money in terms of gas. Not good with speed lol 😆 it is just good for work and home
I had a few CTs in the past. The main downside of the car I found is the crashy suspension. That's what moved me towards the Lexus UX I currently own. The perfomance is lacking, but that's expected with a heavy car combined with a relatively weak power train. Otherwise a good fair review.
I downsized the wheel (weight and size) and upsized the tires on my 2011 and find the ride quality to have greatly improved as well as about 7mpg improved gas milage.
I think the sound of the engine only annoys hard-core, old-school, gasoline-only enthusiasts. If you're already accustomed to hybrids or not really a gearhead, it won't bother you.
Should you buy a Lexus CT200.. yes you should! We bought one after watching this video and also after been shafted by our diesel Volvo and its 3k repair bill. Have had our 2013 model for a while now without incident, not even a rattle in it. Okay, its not the most exciting car and its overly stiff in the suspension dept but its efficient, reliable, £0 road tax and I think it looks quite nice. Also it's a bit different, who hasn't got an Audi or a BMW nowadays so I think it's has a little exclusivity.
indeed yes but i think the newer ones like this ct200h lost some of Lexus class ;-) This ct200 h needs the new 2.0 Hybrid from Toyota with 180hp ! @@HighPeakAutos
For less money and about the same mpg you can get a Honda Fit/Jazz that handles way better, same HP, more interior room, cheaper parts and decent aftermarket support so u can it more unique.

I had a 2012 CT200h Premium, with Mark Levinson sound system. The best thing about the car was the sound system, which is absolutely awesome. Yes the ride is very harsh. The seats are too hard. It handles poorly and is horrible in cross winds on the motorway. In EV mode it will only do 28mph. At 29mph the engine cuts in, so you cannot even drive at the urban speed limit in EV mode, which is pointless. I would never get another....
I agree, the stereo is superb. I think its the perfect city car, as batteries improve the EV range will get better. I quite like owning it, but I wouldn't have another either. Id rather have the IS300h or the RC300h
The point is reliability! They seem not to break! Might get one after having Volvos! Not many problems with Volvos either but seems these lexuses are even better!! 🙏😊 thx for great video!!
Unkle Fritz In the UK we pay about £1.35 a litre which is about $6 a gallon. This Lexus would take £40 to fill which is probably around 10-11 US gallons
You're a very honest and cool guy. Thanks a bunch. I've been wanting to know more about this car since I seen it about 1 1/2 years ago. I pulled the trigger on a Civic but it was really noisy inside until I spent countless hours making it quieter. Lexus have a certain luxury feeling that's great. I had a girlfriend that had a big white one and she was in her 30's but then again she was an Asian nerd!
Im looking to buy ct200 2014 plate with 110k milage- but i read online you need battery replacement after 100k and also evr valve change 50k miles . Is that true ? Cos this will help me negotiate the price if true
Toyota Prius batters last a long time. Often all that is needed after 200k+ miles is just a few cells swapped out and the car will last to 300k. And there is safe rebuilt options if it's needed sooner, if cell swapping turns out not to be the best option or if you just want peace of mind.
This uses the same HV battery pack technology used in the Prius. Same engine, same Hybrid Synergy Drive. Prius cars have managed 400,000 miles on the same HSD battery pack and propulsion system. Boring? Perhaps. Reliable and over engineered? Definitely. I’m driving a 2008 Prius bought June 2013 at 55,000 miles. It now has 110,000 on the clock and hasn’t broken down yet. Last serviced in December 2018, the HV Battery is still in perfect working order according to the Toyota techs. This is the same ultra reliable technology that has gone into the Lexus Hybrids. Buy one without fear, but as with any other vehicle, ensure it has a full service and has NOT been abused!
I don't get this term "its slow" .. Is not going 20mph on a 20mph zone?.... 30MPH on a 30MPH road???? 50mph on a 50mph road? 60mph on a 60mph road? and 70mph on a motorway????!!!! IF IT IS .. THEN HOW IS IT SLOW??!! SOMEONE EXPLAIN PLEASE!! YOU CANT EXPECT TO BUY A FERRARI AND DRIVE AS FAST AS IT GETS?? DO YOU? SO IF A CAR IS DECENTLY DRIVING 70MPH ON A MOTORWAY HOW IS IT SLOW???!!
@@yk100Slow in terms of initial acceleration. From a stop light 🚥 you WILL be pressing it pretty hard to keep up with traffic. And merging on to the motorway/interstate, you almost have to floor it for a good 5 seconds before you start passing people. By slow, they mean uninspiring. Almost nobody drives the speed limit on the East Coast 🥲
Planning to buy one next year. Had a Gen 2 Prius and liked it, but it felt and sounded cheap and the seats were horrible for anything over 2 hours. We replaced it with a Camry Hybrid and we love the Camry, but no memory seats and "only" 32 MPG. Camry has 233,000 miles with ZERO issues - not even brakes. This should be the perfect replacement. Thanks for the insight.
If you put it in sport mode and drive hard it has tons of performance. Fold the rear seats down or one seat down and you have more then enough storage.
@@HighPeakAutos I moved to a Merc A220d DCT AMG, which is in a much higher class above. Build quality WAY better, plus it does between 65 and 70mpg average.
Why are people so hung up about how a hybrid engine sounds? Seems to me that having the engine already be at peak horsepower RPMs is ideal for any car instead of resetting constantly through every gear. And the CVT bashing really shouldn't really be applied to Toyota hybrids since they use a planetary gearset instead of belts. Any slipping that happens is due to the MG-1 allowing it.
Great review! After read the comments. Which model would you recommend to buy/finance in 2023? Open question for everyone, please. I am moving to the UK (Cardiff) and I am considering to buy a CT200h.
@@HighPeakAutos It's the same chassis and power train as the Auris Hybrid, Prius is different. Yes Prius has same technology, but CT & Auris are the same. CT only has better materials inside and better noise insulation.
I’m just about to buy a 2012 car with 32000 miles and I’m sorry but I fall into your 80 years old category . We oldies recognize good value and quality .
Just put in sport mode... it's great... I think so..... had one for 1 year ongoing.... ... with the updated...front end. same black... 18 inch alloys fitted ... most people think it is more than it is ... 🤩.... I love it...
Coming to this video as we’ve just brought a 13 plate with 65k on the clock. What a car for looks and economy. Perfect for the Mrs driving into ulez, zero road tax and cheap insurance
Funny thing is even here in the US, most of all the owners of these cars I've seen were older that 50 yrs old or retired people usually old white men/women. You're right.
It is actually wrong to say that it is just slow. That drivetrain with the electrical motor makes it very quick, at least from zero to about 50 km/h. So it is perfect in city traffic. And it is very relaxing to drive as there is no point to drive it sporty, it does not work for that. So you just "give up" and keep on cruising instead. Best feeling. :)
Leif Eriksson I agree it’s the perfect city car, low emissions, reliable and luxurious. Where I live there are lots of hills, and the lack of power got annoying but I was impressed with the rest of the car 👍
many hates on this video. however, i think this video captures the mood of this lexas perfectly. boring, sleepy, nothing exciting. however, it is economical, extremely reliable, practical. and it will last forever.
