I got the A6 C7 2012 done nearly 140K on the clock and it's never skipped a beat. One of the best cars I own, motorway mile cruncher and got the umph when needed for an over take. Doesn't look out dated in my opinion either.

A number of years ago I had an A6 Avant, 7 seater (the small bench seat that faced backwards in the boot). It was indeed a very good car and in the 4 years I had it, it never didn't start, was very comfortable (if not a little too softly sprung) and very practical. I agree with you, although very good, it wasn't "great". it was alright!

My father who is an accountant has a late 18 plate black edition model, it’s the 1.8 TFSI model which I thought would be gutless for the weight of the car but is actually quite punchy. The interior is showing its age now but usual Audi build is there. However it’s a very quiet and comfortable car to do long distances in.

Great video..as always. I have the C7 platform A7 3.0 TDI Quattro, SLine with 116k now, and FASH. Having the servicing done on time, is so important with these cars. Not long after I took possession of my car, the gearbox failed. Mechatronics gave up and it cost me the thick end of £4500 to repair it. Service book had said the fluid had been done, but it hadn't. Not the dealers fault, but Audi is so damn expensive. But now its fixed, it's the perfect daily. Smooth, quiet, premium and i don't think has aged all that badly either. But...i do need a 335d Touring....

Another Bob on review Matt. I actually have an A6 c7 Avant 3.0Tdi S-line and it's the perfect car. Loads of space for the family, golf clubs and general life. I find it very comfortable, fast enough for pretty much every eventuality and very easy to live with. Particularly when my long term average fuel ecois about 44mpg and easily achieve 50+mpg on a long trip. It pulls a car trailer or my caravan great, and still feels stable. I genuinely can't find a more suitable family car without spending £25k+ . Anyway, I'd say go buy one, enjoy it and keep it. They're faithfully fantastic and the quality is obvious to all!

I think you've summed up my feelings exactly. If I were to replace my 18 yr old luxury yacht of a car (2006 xj 350 v8) I wouldn't pick an A6. They just don't inspire me. I was looking (more dreaming really) recently and a CLS shooting brake or A7 did look very interesting. I'm going to stick with the xj for now. She gets me from a to b. I can't justify in my own head spending what I'd need to spend to replace what I have with something newer, especially as I'd miss my wooden steering wheel and I'd only be gaining bluetooth streaming / dab radio. I can go with jagdroid and sort that out! Thanks for the video content, I always enjoy them :)

Im currently driving the exact car to this (2015 with 50k miles on the clock) as my everyday. I'm happy enough with it as its reasonably economical, comfortable and stylish. My other car is a 2017 3lt A7 (272 bhp) and the difference in feel of the motor and overall experience of the A7 is night and day. However the fuel economy is a lot poorer despite what some people claim (50mpg+ more like 47mpg if you drive really carefully and 35mpg normally) There are rumours that audi serviced cars have had a roll back on the map to account for the diesel gate shennanigans but have a detrimental effect on the overall performance and fuel economy which might explain my poor mpg in the 3.0. As a daily with mixed driving, the 2.0 ultra can be refreshing in these days of soaring fuel costs compared to the 3.0 engine. I regularly return 55-60 mpg daily on a 15 mile motorway run but as mentioned the bitdi option for either a6 or a7 would be my choice in hindsight.

Fall in love..perfect I moved away from vag (no pun intended) because of a series of vehicles that I couldn't wait to get rid of after three years. Probably I didn't have the right engine nor spec but I think that's the gamble the manufacturers take to put you off the brand by having plenty of models that are a compromise. I had exactly this car but a manual Avant. It was as dull as ditchwater and absolutely not a driver's car, as Matt says. The issue I have with Audi's is the excessively forward mounted engine that places too much weight over the front wheels. This in turn means that the front suspension needs to be overly stiff. This is even more apparent in the A4 where the disparity in front and rear suspension stiffness makes for very disconcerting response, especially when cornering swiftly.

What happened with the egr and adblue and at what mileage? Just bought a 2016 2.0 tdi estate with 111k miles and 1 owner, cambelt done at 66k and trying to figure out why so early?

@@japanluv I think someone remapped the car. Deleted the dpf on the CPU but didn't manually remove the dpf so it clogged. Then the lemon landed on my lap. After spending 4,000 nearly on different repairs to try fix the issue. From mapping out egr, changing spark plugs, to hollowing out and deleting the dpf, to deleting and unplugging the adblu system because it failed too. I sold it at a small loss and got an A4 2016. Probably sounds like a waste but the car had to be running to sell it. Glad it's gone. The anxiety from breaking down every 3 months was stressful and expensive. Left me with a financial hangover! A4 is less sexy but the inside is amazing and I've had a very stress free year of ownership.

@@killerblue1 I’ve looked into that as well, the face lift. I was very close to see a few but I kind of liked the A6 estate a bit more. I’ll have to figure out how to keep it from major problems with the DPF and EGR cooler. I’ve part exchange a 2015 Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR that was a joy to drive for a year and had no issues with it, I just wanted something a bit bigger. I hope it serves you well🤗

Went in a taxi that was a Black Edition 3.0 TDI. Like you say a bit boring but it looked mean, was rapid. and just nice. 👌 The boring clinical thing is definitely a VAG characteristic. The Passat CC looks fab but when I have driven one or been a passenger, I couldn't fault it, but I felt it was a bit soulless. Doesn't please a car enthusiast.

Totally agree with your “clinical” comment. I’ve had a few Audis and whilst I’ve always liked them I find them sterile. I find BMWs more welcoming and comfy.

I’ve got a 2014 Avant 3.0 V6 TDi with 262,000km on it. I absolutely love it. 2nd best car I’ve ever owned.Get one with Quattro it’s so much nicer to drive. And with regard servicing the 4wd system. Audi do sell the fluid service it which I do advise you do. It’ll get rid of that Quattro judder at low speed instantly

I know exactly what you're trying to say about the Audi. Back in 2012 I looked at the E350, which was a nice car and went well. the A6 which seemed eminently competent but ended up buying an 11 plate XF 3L diesel The Audi although nice was just that, there was no sense of occasion it was the same as all Audi's The XF was doing 20K a year until i retired I've fitted 2 front springs (common i'm told) and a battery. but have always had it serviced on time. As it owes me nothing I'm just going to keep it as I still feel a sense of occasion when I walk out to use it...

spot on review l had a 2012 2.0ltr diesel black edition it was great but like you said no soul, found it a bit lacklustre when fully loaded as well, I would consider one again but would have to be the 3ltr, currently running a 3ltr diesel xf which is much more engaging to drive only got that thanks to the mayor of london ulez expansion plan so chopped in my ranger rover sport.

Never really gelled with Audi's. Just found them a bit clinical? Very good at getting from A to B but I would have forgotten the drive there in an instant as no real engagement. BMW was always the press on option but still love my 2015 XFS Sportbrake for that sense of theatre and a bit of luxury.

I prefer Audi's to BMW's and Mercs, so much so I purchased an A4 Avant couple of weeks ago. Like my A4, your A6 here is a lot of car for the money

Hi Matt, another great review of the a6 , I had this exact vehicle in Avant version, I hated it, needless to say I traded it for a LR Velar and haven’t looked back, it was a boring wallowing barge

I've a 2016 s-line avant 2.0tdi 150bhp model, it's done 220,000 km, only major issue was EGR cooler had to be replaced around 200,000km, seems to be a known issue with them. Other than a few glow plugs and bushings, cv joints, it's been great. Important to changed the gear oil in the s tronic every 60,000km. right enough it's a bit stiff over bumps but you only notice it around towns with ramps and things like that, but upside is that it's fun coming out of sharp corners with the 7 speed s tronic ready to kick up a gear, corners nice and flat. infotainment is a bit dated by todays standards but it will play music over bluetooth form my iphone no prob, that's all i want. I can get 4.8l/100km if you keep it at or below 100km/h. On the motorway speeds I usually get 5.4/100m. maybe it's because it was my first automatic car but no journey seems like a chore anymore, i love jumping into it and going for a drive, hope it keeps going for another few years.
