@@thorhaveron I don't think I've seen ANY of the humanoid species as its unclothed version. Maybe humanoids in general don't have an unclothed version while the rest do.
@@TheArklyte ech if I want to play humansI would play SIMS and not Stellaris or Elder Scrolls, right? :-D But yeah I would like specialization for all species anyway
Too slow aspec, I already bought it 2 hours ago lol But honestly this has the best looking shipset so far and you can definitely tell they put a lot of love into the portraits I can't wait to try it out once I figure out which of my mods are causing my game to crash as soon as I try to start a new game lol
I am now an Aquatics Enjoyer. I've never been happy with Trade Goods and largely played machine empires because of this. With Anglers however this has been resolved! Trade value, consumer goods, a surplus of food to then make into alloys... My economy is handled practically at the outset!
Wanna know something hilarious that just happened to me? The trailer that makes up the intro for this vid played as an ad before the video started. If that ain't appropriate advertising, if a little redundant, I don't know what is.
With the new Deluge weapon I'd love for Paradox to add some more colossus based weapons that can be used with more utility than just "Planet is now dead." For example, I know it would never work for balencing reasons, but imagine a machine empire being able to just dump nanobots onto a biological homeworld and have them turn the planet into a Machine World or just a world of metal for future mining. That would be awesome as hell.
This is the reason I despise the multiplayer community for this game. I don't want multiplayer, I want to play single player. I want jank. I want disgusting imbalance in order to do whacky shit like this.
I don't see why adding Resource Consolidation modifier with a Colossus would be imbalanced. It's a powerful modifier, but by the point when you have Colossus, you're pumping out habitats and machine worlds left and right.
They really missed something if they, in Frank Herbert, didn't think to include an event chain that spawns sandworms on a desert planet on which you can find a spice called melange that increases your leader lifespans and their stats but also makes them addicted to spice. Maybe also a variant on the event chain where a scientist becomes exposed to spicegas and develops some unique trait that lets him jump his ship as if he had jumpdrive long before your civ develops the tech. You must of course colonise the planet and name it Arrakis otherwise the ghost of Frank will appear and smite your home system.
Heads up, they removed the 10% hull strength for aquatic admirals right before release. Something worth knowing if you wanted to buy the dlc for that reason.
@@Jenna_Talia I would find it understandable if they kept the hull strength bonus to make it a 1 point, but without? It’s just a habitability trait that also unlocks some special mechanics
The song in the intro is a remix of the song [Fish in the Sea] from Assassin Creed 4 black flag. I motion this to be made a full song! All praise Paradox, the madlad did it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oBL9dTwVi4I.html
When I make my first aquatics empire, definitely picking swolphin…and naming my leader…dolph lundgren…yes! And the motto/advertising for this, shoulda been, “it’ll get you wet”! Or at least for the colossus. Haha
The song sounds like the ones that made the really catchy one from Warframe ages ago when the first open world area was released. They are a really nice group that really know how to make good songs like this.
It seems that Pearl Divers consume Minerals. They take 2 Food and 2 Minerals to produce 3 CGs and 2 Trade Value, compared with 6 Minerals for 6 CGs for standard Artisans.
It's currently on sale In Europe for 20% , as well as most expansions and the main game. I Created cyberneticly modifed species of cetacean ops. preety greaat so far
Gonna be real. I thought arctic worlds were essentially frozen ocean worlds and there was liquid water under the ice. If that were true they really should at least have the neutrality afforded continental and tropical. Hell, I thought tropical was basically a wet world where it is mostly land. Lots of rivers, swamps and lakes. That would benefit an aquatic specie more than a desert, sure, but here we go shaking my perception of things.
@Acolyte of Dagon Yeah. Some people think pay-2-win will be the unhealthy future of games. I think it will be making games as platforms, then steadily release expansions and content to them.
@Acolyte of Dagon It's good. The novelty of having some new stuff is good by default after 1K hrs played, which probably makes me biased, but it's not expensive. The price is in my case justified by the hrs played many times over, even if I don't play aquatic empires too often. I wouldn't say it is "necessary" like utopia, apocalypse and synthetic dawn expansions which I can't play without anymore, but still brings something new to the table like Necroids. I do love how it is integrated with apocalypse for makeshift aquatic-terraforming though.
on another note i love these sort of games and Stellaris does it well yes people new to these sort of games will find it hard with how the things work and have trouble min maxing things but all the dlcs are worth it as they add many new things to the game and when combined with the right mods the game is so much fun that i have never not wanted it on my computer
when i look at the ships and structures i think "this is avian...but better" although i would love to see a mod where if you had the dragon and this dragon could get together, you can sacrifice a world to them which will remove them from the field but allows you to start your own dragon breeding program
Or gas organism or one that can only live on barren worlds. Add a plasmid creature which can life in the Corona of stars and intelligent space amoeba too.
The biggest thing I would like to see them expand on though remains diplomacy. Maybe introduce something that makes the galactic community try to maintain a balance of power. That if you grow too strong they will all team up to cut you down to size. That would make diplomacy relevant later on cause you would need to maintain relationships with the strongest members at all times.
Shame they didn't add any aquatic gestalt content...it's all for non-gestalt empires. Instead of "anglers", a hive might have "Coral Brain" giving a coral drone granting a small amount of research and unity. Not sure what a machine would have though. Also, while the ships do look nice, other than the corvette they don't really have an aquatic feel to them. To really understand what I mean by this, take a look at the ship design for the Boron species in X series, specifically X3 or X4. If you like using normal or megacorp empires this is a good pack. A friend and I both got it day of release. He loves it. I prefer playing Hives, and the lack of any content in that quarter is really disappointing. If you like playing hives, skip this DLC for now.
I agree with you, but for the titan if you look down from the top it looks like a cuttlefish at rest. And a lot of the ships are more designed to be oceanic transports rather than aping Earth aquatic critters.
instant idea for mod: the aquatic colossus gets reworked into basically just a big balloon and a syringe or something on planetary scale. you need to make it eat ice asteroids untill it is full and then it takes no setup time at all when you dump all of the liquid on whatever world you targeted. also include terraforming by making the world resulting in your deluge be one level more wet than it was before. can be repeated of course.
I know I'm month late, but is there any chance you could tell me how you opened the specie portrait file? I assume you used GIMP from the looks, but it doesn't work in mine by default.
wait, wait wait! Does this deluge Colossus weapon work on all planets or just habitable ones? Does it mean that you chan insta - terraform Barren / Molten / Frozen planets into Ocean??
I don't know, but I'm of the opinion that if you deluge a molten world it takes twice as long and generates a nebula in the system. You know, for making a sauna on a stellar system scale. 😆
the trailer song is enough for it to be a hard yes for that one thing alone they just needed to add the song in to the game itself and it would be a god tier dlc
I still want to help populate my new worlds/conquered worlds with my armies that can be disbanded and turned to colonists. Like every army counts as 0.5 pops so you can't just dump armies willy nilly but dropping a 10 stack army on a world they just conquered could help a long way and be an awesome Rome style RP
@@A_Spec that would be interesting. You would have to really think about how you would build up an invasion army. Maybe if you has an excess amount of jobless pops or unpaid interns and just throw them up in an auxiliary army so they got something to do and won't be burdens to your empire.
Also Jelly Fish Girls? Paradox out japanning Japan. I can see it now Jelly Fish Girls start showing up in Isekai Harem Anime. Future MC's prepare to be shocked!
hmmm... Stefan said that anglers are terrible... high upkeep and only 1 instead of 2 for district... I'm not good enought in this game to know who is right thou :D
Wow last time I was this early... Well let's just say I was on console and was hyped for megacorps... Should I get it? Idk I can't watch the video yet, I'm about to head off to work. Will I get it? You God damn right I will.
i would have liked more actual aquatic based portraits. We already have molluscs, arthropods, etc for the game, we have very few fish or aquatic mammal based portraits and that was what i was hoping to see (and no, sorry, but i dont' count 'put animal head X on humanoid body' as good enough, as well as WHY would a aquatic species evolve a highly inefficient humanoid body for underwater ) But the ships look great!
I started an Ocean Paradise Game, I did'nt get any frozen world around. What I got was: A relic World, A Gaia World (unguarded), another relic World tied to the Rubicator and a 25 Ocean world a little farther away. This is so powerful... I amlost feel bad.
Aquatic civic costs 1 point in the current live version it ain't free anymore it's also locked to either aquatic paradise origin or just ocean world i didn't check it out enough i just noticed 1 point and not removable
Not played in some time. This is the only DLC I do not have. Considering getting it and trying again. Pretty much forgot how to play so will have to check out your tutorial videos.
