For anyone who is thinking on buying this piano, do it. I bought the non-pro version, and I thought I was going to have a hard time getting used to it since I had always played in a grand acoustic piano, which we had to sell. To my surprise it sounds amazingly good, I detect at least 4 levels of sound in the keys, the speakers are a little bit low in volume, that is true, but that can be easily fixed. Long story short, I've had a great time with this piano. And it's not even the pro weighted keys version. I'll def improve to the pro version when I get the chance.

Your reviews are SO good, so well done and helpful. I had ordered the Alesis Recital Pro but then was having second thoughts about it, thinking that maybe I should have ordered the Roland FP-30X instead. After watching your reviews for both instruments I think I made a good decision getting the Alesis. Thank you so much for your excellent reviews. Wishing you all the best!

Wow. I’m so glad I recently switched to listening to all videos with high quality headphones instead of laptop or iPad speakers. The two sounds on this keyboard most consumers will likely not even use, the Harpsichord and the Church Organ, are actually the best sounds on this instrument. The Harpsichord and Church Organ are very authentic and would be excellent for thousands of great classical pieces. This might be a huge missed opportunity!

Thank you very much for this review, I have been waiting for it for a few months. I wanted to buy the Alesis Pro 88 in Panama but it turns out they ran out of stock(it was a very popular item during the X-Mas Holidays). I managed to get a Yamaha P-45 and I am very happy for this purchase. I started taking Piano Lessons 4 months ago and the GHS action on the Yamaha P-45 has helped me gain strength in my fingers (my previous piano was a Yamaha PSR-E253, which I used for playing songs with chords and doing fun stuff). However, I saw so many reviews on the Alesis Pro 88 that I am still curious to try it out and possibly buy it as travel Digital Piano (it`s great that it does work on batteries, the Yamaha P-45 does not). Panama (the country) still hasn`t received the stock of Alesis Pro 88, but most likely I will buy one and by that time I will probably have a few more months worth of Piano Knowledge/Practice. I would like to compare the Weighted Hammer Action from the Alesis to the Yamaha`s GHS Action and give my opinion (from the humble point of view of a begginer). I asked several you tube channels if this difference in the actions would affect much in my learning and technique development but I did not seem to get a straight answer. Once again, thanks for your great reviews and videos which I enjoy very much and that inspired me to finally take proper Piano lessons.

One of the best reviews out there keep up the great content! Not sure if this has been addressed but under function there are 2 volume controls for the lower level (white keys) and upper level (black keys) the default lower is 60 while the default upper is set to 100, setting them at the same level really helped the misbalance of tones, why they did this, who knows but this helped even out the sound for me.

I have one of that Recital Pro, by now I am using it for playing at church using my old peavey kb60 amp.... It sound good but for me the sounds church organ, harpsichord, clavi and synth are useless. Like you I think that need to have a Rhodes or Tines EP and a DX EP and a good pad sound instead the synth sound. But anyway is a good piano......

How does the Alesis R.P. on board speaker sound compare to the Inovus i88 and the Donner DEP 20? These are the three I am interested in and there is no way for me to hear them in person. I'm leaning towards the i88 but the Recital Pro is tempting. I respect your opinion. Also, would you recommend doubling my budget and going for the Roland FP-30X since it won't break the bank?

Awesome video, Jeremy. Once again you created an excellent video that is very informative and keeps giving everyone alternatives, and more affordable options, especially for those that desire 88 key weighted action digital pianos with decent sound and great features. Though the exclusion of the sustain/damper pedal in a minus, I feel it is a minor issue, as most simple pedals cost about $20,and is sufficuent for many beginners or hobbyists, and the better piano type damper pedal is still affordable for most, especially the one you recommend, with links to purchase. I got a Roland DP 10 for my Go:Keys 61K and had one for my Fantom X6, at that time flagship workstation keyboard. I believe I still have a few brand new DP2 pedals in storagevwith my other gear, and have a Tascam one I can use when I get the Casiotone CT S300. I do however realize this would be an issue for people on a strict budget, and those with the mentality and self imposed ceiling of never being able to get a keyboard. Their reality may be true to an extent for some, more than others, but I am addressing the elephant 🐘 in the room because I see this commented often, and not intended to be demeaning, because I realize where many are coming from, and how they got that that mindset, especially due to their particular conditions. The bottom line is, often, unless blessed or assisted by others gifting, or sudsidizing their dreams and efforts, the classic phrase that you have to pay to play applies here, even for me. But people have to realize many factors. First of all, their present state of being, economy, personal financial situation, location, country, and accessibility to acquire these keyboards, or anything else, though modern technology, Amazon, and other things open up those possibilities. Another thing is the reality of their present being. What are your dreams, goals, desires, and aspirations, and how seriously are you willing to put that inspiration into effort, planning, and action to achieve that goal. I remember Proverbs 3:5-6, to Trust in the Lord with all your heart. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. And also Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart ❤ With that being said, the other old saying is, Faith without works is dead. You can't expect to freeload and get handouts. You may get blessings in your life, but expectation and that mindset of self entitlement and poverty mentality asking for a keyboard because you have many, or I can never afford to get one is dismal. As you grow up from an infant and toddler, you progress from crawling to walking, and then on to advanced modes of transportations, the limits subject to what I mentioned above. How do people get uber expensive luxury cars and homes, other than illegitimate means? They work hard for it, but often by little steps, and a whole lot of patience, blood, sweat, and tears, and tiers. The same applies here to music ability and the instruments you have. You are not going to ever be an aspiring musician like this great ones you admire, like the awesome Jeremy See, or even a satisfied hobbyist if you don't put motivation and effort into it, and have patience to build a firm foundation before rushing ahead, and have a shoddy, shaky building. Many people that have children also rush and can't wait for their pride and joy to start walking, giving them a walker and such to expedite the process. What they don't realize is that thus is counterproductive and detrimental. Michael Jordan took his time crawling, way longer than most, and now has extreme athletic ability and brsin to body reflexes, communication, and coordination. Get the picture? I believe Bruce Lee said something to the effect of not fearing a fighter that has practiced several techniques a hundred times, but fear the fighter that has perfected one move thousands of times. The same goes with playing technique. Many people can do fancy runs on the keyboard, but many fewer do it much better in many ways, accuracy, fluidity and smoothness, expression, and so on. Just like seing dancers go through choreographed moves, but don't have the artistic finnesse of those that just go through the motions. It's like the difference between keyboard with and without touch sensitivity and good key action. Okay, I said a whoe lot here, way beyond my usual editorial comments, and morphed into a motivational philosophy seminar, but I must have been inspired to write this for a purpose. But a few more things to wrap this up and get back to how this applies tonthe vidro, and the first part of my comment as it can apply to everyone that watches your videos and reads and submits comments. Many won't read this, or most of it, because it's so long, but may hugely benefit from it. First of all, regarding music ability. If you are a total beginner, and your music playing ability consists of turning on the radio, you are blessed in these modern times with all the various facets or ways to learn, many free. You can always take a break from the boredom and at least try some of the more advanced things you see, if you so desire to see how well you do, and get a perspective, but go back buiding your musical mansion foundation solid and properly. Learn all the basic children are being taught and progress to classical music standards and techniques. Many professional musicians, even shredding rock guitarist riffs are based on scales, arpeggios, and classical music phases. Then as you progress, you can go into the genres and musical sylings thst interest you. I think that's all I need to mention on this here. Even with my years of playing, and inactivity for a long time, like learning how to ride a bike, I still haven't forgotten how to read music. Some people have learned to play music without it, but you miss out a whole lot without it. But now, it's like learning to play almost from day one again. I played clarinet from 5th grade in scool until years after I graduated, but sold my professional model clarinet quit playing. I was the first seat for several years in band. If I eent bsck to it, I woukd hsve to relearn everything I have forgotten, so do feel bad as a beginner. Enjoy the music you listen to, snd don't feel pressured to do anything. Msny people are great musicians, but are all uniquely different. So are you, so do your own thing. Lastly, I want to talk about getting that dream keyboard. Like learning to walk and play music, it is a learning a growing process. Even if you have the money to buy what you want, do you need that right now? Are you at the level to make use of it? Should you spend your money right now on somethung more important, like your basic needs and expenses and TCOB aka Take Care Of Business and getting something more practical for what you need, can afford, or should get st this point in time and playing ability, and get something better later? I owned lots more expensive keyboards, but my $350 I have now is the best for what I need and want for this present time, but I coukdvhave gone eiith the much cheaper Casio or Yamaha models, with some compromises in sound and features. But thanks to my good friend Jeremy See, he provides us with a whole new prospective of piano and keyboard learning and playing, and helping you to see what is available, what they sound like, their features snd price, etc. But one thing he cannot do for all of you who comment is to help you decide which keyboard to choose. Hey shows you everything you you need to know, and you can comment on any other questions and maybe get opnions, and advice from Jeremy, myself, or the others here. But the choice is yours. Watch the videos. The same thing about asking to do so and so videos. Often, these videos are already made, and often updated versions snd variations of comparisons snd such. Go search if they are there. You may find the answers or great videos for that be others, but maybe not quite as fabulous and well done as Jeremy's. :p And for those asking about prices in your currency, the answer is the magic word. Google! If you watch these videos and comment, you have access to the technology to search for curreny conversions. And the same for those asking for subtitles in your language. Jeremy puts so much time, effort and expense to bring these videos to you for free, and have the focus to concentrate. That is not his department. It's not what he does, silly gooses! So watch, enjoy, and have fun learning, and enjoy your keyboards, and for those that don't have any yet, I wrote what you need to hear above. For free. So, if you enjoyed this comment, please smash the like button below! 😆🤣😂😹 Be blessed, and make a joyful noise until the Lord, even if it's not music! Lol

@@JeremySee I tried to be nice about it, and add a little humor in it. But, some people need to wake up snd use their own brain, pay attention, do research to what has already been done, take initiative and not waste others time, and detract you and others from doing what you do best. That is why I often comment and reply to others to help reduce these redundant comments and requests, and actually help others to help themselves.

I'm not used in playing accustic pianos, but wonder if there is such a noise. I think, they have better cushioning, i.e. shock absorber for the keys? As mentioned in other posts, I like how you are playing piano, minimal moves of your fingers, very controlled.

Thank you for watching. The piece of felt that absorbs the impact on release gets compressed over time. It is common with most digital pianos. You can replace that felt strip but other than a more audible thud, it doesn't impact performance.

I bought this one, pleased with the sensation for the first time. However I would like to know if it’s normal or is it bad technique from me : when I play the keys make significant noise, I come from a beginner keys without weighted keys. I don’t play with the volume fully up so there is that, but is there anyone bothered with the sound of the keys ?

I have the Alesis Recital Pro (purchased Feb 2021), and it has been great for home use/learning/sheer enjoyment on a daily basis. My purchase was influenced by this RU-vid review, which is very clear about the positives and negatives. I found it very helpful, it structured my expectations for my use-case and for making an informed choice. I use mine 95%+ with headphones, with the piano voice, and sound quality has proven very agreeable for my taste. Piano tone is an important aspect for me and, out-of-the-box, this one suits me just fine. I added a good sustain pedal and stand to my setup, and have line-connectivity to my laptop for quality recording when needed. Ideally I would have liked fully graded weighted keys to give a better long-term instrument/more authentic acoustic piano feel, but the absence of this on the Pro was not a deal-breaker at this point of my musical journey, and the amount I wanted to spend. Importantly, I use the instrument a lot. I get many hours enjoyment from the Pro, it looks nice in the room, it feels good to use, it has been a pleasant ownership experience, a good all-round package🙂

You are right, but for that price, it's good enough I guess, and looks a lot better than most of the more expensive ones. Kind of sad there are no good-looking non-grand electric/hybrid/transacoustic available for any price range nowadays. 😭

If you want quality, you gotta pay more. Some people will find that difficult to accept, but that's the truth. If you want quality from a digital piano, get Nord Grand. In my opinion, it's the best portable digital piano with 3 pedals and key actions.
@Zoco101
@Zoco101 3 года назад
Nord design and build quality is stunning. I don't think it has the best actions, usually, but didn't Kawai make a great one for Nord? Nord keyboards are professional of course. Poor students can't start off with a Nord. An ideal first digital piano costs about €1000. If you have less money, well then you have to compromise.
