I was extremely impressed with the Roborock E4 when I was in school a few years ago. I bought it coming from the Neato Botvac D80 so I wasn't expecting much because the lidar navigation was incredible on the Botvac, but the E4 was as good and better in some ways. The gyroscope navigation really impressed me. And the build quality of the E4 was good too. I had never heard of this Roborock company up until then but I was sold after owning the E4. Then I sold my E4 to my boss when I moved last year. I see some E5's for $250 so I will get 2 for my 2 floors.
Mine struggles to find its dock. I am not sure the people buying these are fully understanding that these will cause frustration due to the limitations. If they understand the limitations it will be a good fit. Great review!
Thanks, I see where the robot will struggle finding it dock. I try to put the dock in a open area, if possible in a room that in the center of your floor plan. Since the robot relies on gyros, it may loose track in area with lots of obstacles or furniture, so the robot will go into a search mode. Yes a big limitation is not having the ability to reposition itself within a floor plan if it looses track. This is something that cameras and Lidar based robot vacuums can do. On the flip side these Gyro based robots are great for moving the robot from floor to floor and won’t run into the chance of having their map corrupted.
I returned my e4 and s4 and ended up getting the s4max for 300 bucks. Its all software related issues. Once you get the max it finds the dock and doesn't sit and turn circles on carpet.
I don’t think this particular model has a dedicated edge mode. Some other models like the Shellbot SL60 AI has a dedicated edge mode. Or you can look at some cheaper options that offer this feature.
Hi!i just came across your videos researching for roborock vacuum which i was interested in buying. All the videos are really helpful but i need help on deciding. This is my first time buying robot vacuum ever since irobot 7+ years ago. I’m debating between roborock E5 and S7. We have around 3000 sq ft one floor home and no carpet(maybe a rug later on). Which one would you recommend for daily use? Im fine combing with other vacuums too! My dyson stick vacuum broke and is in a repair center also so i dont have any vacuums at the moment. Do you have any suggestions for the cordless vacuums as well? Thanks!
Hello so I wouldn’t recommend the E5 since you have a larger floor plan. Probably go with a Lidar based robot vacuum. My suggestion if you don’t need mopping the S4 Max amzn.to/3jaYTwd Or the 360 S5 amzn.to/3BXFZkN A Lidar based robot vacuum for $199. Now if mopping important than the S5 Max amzn.to/37fHyfG Is a good recommendation. While I like the S7 only consider it if you want better mopping performance and planning on getting the self emptying system.
Do you think this will be able to get onto a Shag carpet? Not necessarily cleaning. My T8 Deebot and I home Nova could. My I3 sometimes gets clean extractors error
Hi. My Roborock E5 is totally lost in the room. Cannot find the dock and also keeps going in circles and running into walls. I bought it just 1 week ago and don’t know what to do. Have performed several resets, thorough cleaning, etc. Thanks for the help
Hello, so the Roborock E5, has some minor improvements over last year model the E4. The main difference is the increased suction to 2,500 Pa and the handheld remote. Now I did take a look at the Mijia 1c and on paper spec wise it a better robot vacuum. Has camera navigation, live map tracking, and electronic mopping system. I see the battery is smaller on the Mijia VS E5 5,200 mAh battery. If it was me, I think the Mijia would be the better value if the price is similar.
Well I haven’t personally tried the Xiaomi mi. From what I read the Mi is very similar to the S5. One thing to note the Mi has a camera so navigation abilities should be better over the E5. Also you can get the E5 without the Mopping System to save a few bucks. So if your home has a simple open floor plan without a lot obstacles and isn’t too big than get the E5. If it a larger home aka 2,500 SQFT or more than get the Xiaomi Mi.
@@RobotMasters Thanks for the reply! Personally my home doesn't have way too many obstacles but I have a dog and sometimes he makes a mess inside, would e5 or mi notice this? Also my house has a few carpets but mainly concrete floor. (3 floor house) From other I saw that E5 has 2500 PA, 5200 MAH battery and 640ml dustbin - €229 Mi mop p has 2100 PA, 3200 MAH battery and 500ml dustbin but has linar - €299 From this information which is the best option? Thanks so much
@@ZackGames4Life I would probably go with the Mi. Keep in mind both these models can’t avoid your dog’s mess so I would try to block off the area or run the robot when you know there isn’t anything like that on the ground. The some models out there that can actively avoid poo like the Ecovacs AIVI or the Roborock S6 MaxV, but those are more expensive. I don’t think you necessarily need that.
It has happened on certain models. If you have really thigh carpet the S4 will struggle. I would recommend an all rubber brush roll design like the i7 or the S7 from Roborock. These tend to have less resistance on carpet allowing them to spin easier. As for the E5 the Extractor bar may momentarily stop to avoid excessive stress on the motor.
No you shouldnt. You should buy the dreame d9. It has virtual walls and no go zones, seperate room cleaning in the app. The e5 is the same price and doesnt have any of this. The e5 is just a pointless product in that matter.
