They're very similar, but I've always preferred the a5100 for video and the a6000 for photography.

The Sony a6000 was my first camera for all of high school. I will forever be grateful to it for introducing me to photography and videography. I probably shot a hundred thousand photos and dozens of thousands of videos in the 4 years I had it. A few years later it was stolen from me, and I used that chance to get an a6600. It was a huge jump up in quality, and the 4k was very nice, but honestly the best improvement was the bigger battery.

Reason I'm watching this video .. I just bought this camera at Goodwill for $6.98. It came in a Rockwell bag with 3 lenses, one is very long and with all that's needed.. Even 2 extra 32gb SD cards ..

I literally just sold my old A5100 and bought this beast instead to compliment my ZV-E10 as I felt like the viewfinder and mode wheel would help out a lot with my street photography. It arrives first thing tomorrow morning and I legitimately cannot wait for it!

A6000 is a good choice if you already have the ZV-E10. The better photography features you've mentioned will help your street photography. Enjoy the camera!

I traded my A6000 last year for an A7 III. I been thinking about it and regretting how I could of just save up a bit more for the upgrade. I'm looking to buy the A6000 back. It was a great stealthy street photography camera

I've been using the A6000 for three years now, I see no reason to get rid of it anytime soon. It takes great pics in Jpeg and Raw, I'm more a novice travel photographer, it works great as an on the road trip camera, so I don't feel I need to trade it in for the foreseeable future. Is it worth it? YES! For a budget friendly camera to learn on, you can't go wrong with any Sony A6000+ camera.

Still using a6000, my favourite for point/shoot - using SEL20F28. Just recently added the Zhiyun M2S gimbal for quick setup for smooth video.

Still using mine since premiere. I do not need anything else for my trips. (+few lenses ofc and Minolta AF 500 with adapter)

Still love my a6k. I bought a ZV-E10 to replace it (I also have an a7iii but don't like lugging it around). The ZV-E10 is cool and all, but there's a few quirks that make it really annoying for photography. Thus, the a6k still has a spot in my arsenal lol. Still going strong after 5 years.

Make sure your YT video quality is up high for the review lol. Mine was 360 and I thought the photos were bad lol. I'm a novice and I want a cheap camera that takes better photos than my Samsung S21.

Well, I own one since new. I'm by no means a professional or enthusiast photographer, I just wanted something nicer than a phone camera at the time. It held up great.

I got it when it first got released and just sold it last Sunday. It is in my opinion the camera to start in photography, as it is really compact and everything can be adapted to it. I did not upgraded the camera to an a6700, instead, I went to the a6500, as compared to the a6700, a6500 is an overcharged a6000.

I've used tons of cameras in my life. But, the a6000 have a special place in my heart. Ive had one long ago, and last week i got one brandnew for £80. Its small almost fits in my pocket. I love it.

I have been inspired by the whole Fuji-mania at the minute to try and find some cheap alternatives to a pocketable mirrorless paired with a 20-24mm prime lens. The a6000 is jumping out at me as a good option. I quite like the retro-inspired design, viewfinder, and very good reviews all round for the image quality. The only issue I'm finding is locating a reasonably priced pancake lens. The Canon EFS 24mm f2.8 is a good example of something I'm trying to find for the Sony mount, but the closest it appears you can get is the 20mm f2.8 pancake which seems to float around two or three times the price of the canon one. Do you (or anyone) know of any alternatives for that 35mm-ish focal length that seems so versatile and cool at the minute?

I still use the sony a6000 . Check out 7artisans lenses or ttartisan .They are Cheap and excellent and work great on the sony a6000.

I used to own an a6000 and sold it to buy an a6600 with an 18-135 lens, mainly for 4K video. I generally got good results with the camera. I'm now considering buying an a6000 so I have something I can stick in a pocket and take with me anywhere to do street or landscape photography with just the 16-50 kit lens and not feel so weighed down. The a6000 may not be able to shoot 4K video, but there is (or was) a way to upgrade the video with a firmware update that lets you shoot in XAVC-S format at 50 Mbits per second, thus improving the colour quality and detail a little. At one time, 50Mbits/s used to be the ITU broadcast standard.

For a starter or beginner it is. Best camera to improvise your skills in photography. If you can save a bit of money more, you can get a newer version; sony a6100

this is a great camera, but at this year. NO. there are lots of new lens especially third party lenses that cant catch up on a6000. for an example we have the VILTROX 27mm 1.2 pro.. When recording you will experience Super Shaky on focusing like focus hunting in rapid succession and vibration on ur a6000 body. however in a6400, a6600, a6700, a7c and fx30 there is no problem at all

The Sony NEX-6 is cheaper, simpler menu system and about 90% of the A6000's features. I own both of these cameras, and am very satisfied with the NEX-6. I use both about 50/50. The A6000 does have better AF than the NEX-6, and with some non-native lenses like Viltrox and Rokinon. The A6300 would be the next step above the A6000. Same sensor, but even better AF, weather sealed aluminum alloy body and 4K video.

If you're looking for a similar, low cost option then the sony a5100, if you have a little more budget then the sony ZV-E10.

So, my brother in law got this camera for my sister 3 or 4 years ago Christmas. I think she used it maybe a dozen times lol.
