I thought that there are only two categories for capital gains taxation post 1april 2023. Equity oriented where there is >65% equity, and non-equity which is taxed as per slab without indexation. Are you saying that AA funds that hold less than 65% debt have indexation benefit even if the investment was made after 1 April 2023?

Yes, but it actually depends on the particular allocation of the fund house. When you redeem, If the previous year's allocation was above 65, then it will be treated as equity. Else, will be taxed as debt and added to tax slab (for less than 3 years holding). If the equity holding is less than 35%, then even LTCG will be added to income tax slab (which is dangerous if u need to withdraw at that time but are in the highest tax bracket) It is actually quite hard to plan the investment based on the "current" allocation because it may change when you redeem so have to be a little cautious to rely only on such a fund😊

@@abhishekkushwaha29 if you know to rebalance your portfolio you should not invest in BAF. They just sell equity when market falls and increase allocation during bullish times. It does not make no sense as it has to be other way around.
