Do you have to have some kind of commercial insurance on the bike to cover if anything happens? @imwithspin

I’ve rented my bike out for about 12 months and had a great experience 90% of the time. It’s that 10% that you should consider and ask yourself if it’s worth it. When a customer mechanically damages the bike, in my case, burns out a new clutch in 3 days, riders share will not cover the expenses unless you have video evidence or the customer admits they misused the bike. Great experience when it goes well but Rider’s share does not vet their riders well enough. I wouldn’t recommend it.

SO bikes only last 30-40K miles? Huh? You must be thinking about a HD :P
@1sinister80
@1sinister80 Год назад
For real. Japanese bikes last well into the 100k mile range in my own experience. HD don't last a couple hundred miles before having issues they rattle loose.

I don't know of ANY bike that only lasts for 30-40K. My BMW has 65K. Two of my other bikes are at that 40K and still flawless running condition. My Dad has a Harley over 80K, my youngest son has a 1981 Honda with 75K. Your bike lasts as long a you take care of it. Sadly many people are not good at taking care of anything in their lives let alone a bike.

I have been getting calls from some rent your bike out company for my 2004 BMW R1150RT. It would be nice for some one to fly in from another country or state and go riding... However there is a lot of liability and potential loss for a $100 a day.... There is wear and tear and maintenance. I do my own work which save cost of operation but it takes time to work on these bikes (lots of plastic to take off). Bike is worth about $5000 now. I worry about getting sued. I live 400 miles from Deals Gap/Tail of the Dragon, 200 miles from Nashville, 400 miles from New Orleans. I am not going to do it. My bike has 46,300 miles. It has two side bags and top bag. These bikes can go 100K miles. but.... Parts for these bikes are harder to find now, so you have to source used. I think not....

After listening to this I feel like these guys don't really have much experience with motorcycles other than they may own a bike. Tires in my experience last about 3 to 5 k miles at best on a sport bike. Bikes also have a wet clutch and those are very durable and are made to be ridden so a learner isn't doing much if any damage that regular riding wouldn't cause. And Japanese bikes last a very long time with valve adjustments every 12k to 16k miles at the cost of 700 to 1000 bucks. You can get well into the 100k miles. Now I have no experience owning a HD I wouldn't personally do that to myself but I ride with groups and there are HD and they do have the most issues by far its not even close. So maybe his comments are more geared toward them.

I guess you should break in the bike yourself first? They are going to rip on it no matter so probably dont want to rent a brand newish one

Hey Linescrew1! Thanks for your comment. I think it’s totally worth it. You can focus just on folks looking for long term rentals, instead of just 24 hours at a time. I think this will make it worth your efforts. I recently had a claim and the took great care of me with the repairs and related costs.

How much money do these ride share sites charge? What is their cut, insurance charges, and whatever you have to take out of your rental money and pay to them? For example, if you got $100 for a 1 day rental, how much of that $100 do you have to pay to the web site?

Don't rent out your bike with this company Riders-Share. I was renting out my bike for several yrs until a oppurtunist, liar renter borrowered my bike and returned it damaged. Hole and carved marks on my side fenders. Jacked up clutch & gear. Renter changed my bike's tires without my permission on an expensive shop and Riders-share charged me for it without telling me after the bike's tires was changed. Very unprofessional. Asked the company for insurance claims but refused it and deleted my account. Very deceptive company. Dont rent it out unless you want your bike ruined someday and you will pay for the renter's mischevious, irresponsible use of your bike.

Thanks for this video! I was considering using my Ural sidecar motorcycle for Uber or Lyft and stumbled upon this video, I really didn't know these platforms to rent out a bike. I'm in Montana and am considering putting my Ural up for renting. I thought it would be fun for people wanting to try out this type of bike? Just concerned about the wear and tear of it, as it may be pretty expensive to have this type of bike maintained or parts replaced from Russia? What do you think?

So I only have my bike permit, I really want to get into riding an can’t afford a bike right now trying so hard to save but it’s just ridiculous so my next best thing is to rent. Am I still able to rent with a permit? Twisted road hasn’t verified anything even when I go to rent a bike completely it seems to let me without verifying much.

So do the renters drive their car to your house and then drive your motorcycle away? Or do you meet them somewhere else and take your bike there on a trailer?
@JustJesseOfficial
@JustJesseOfficial 3 года назад
You can either deliver your motorcycle to their home (preferably), or they can pick it up with either with a truck or other. Most people who rent can rent for a couple days so idk if they'd wanna leave their vehicle at your house for two days.
@303MoTo
@303MoTo 2 года назад
Do these people meet you at your home to pick the bike up, or in a public place? If a public place, how do you handle getting back home etc... ?
@CreativeFocus365
@CreativeFocus365 7 месяцев назад
You can arrange where to make the pick up and drop off. I would do it at my house in my own garage so that the rider can see that I have other bikes available as well.

I would never rent a motorcycle! Ridiculously expensive!! How can a motorcycle be more expensive to rent than a car??? Plus Twisted Road asks for a curios $500 “security deposit” that you get back two days AFTER you return the bike. No thanks!
@Joshua-le1vn
@Joshua-le1vn 2 года назад
For you maybe it's expensive. Others it's cheap. All perspective.
@postersm7141
@postersm7141 2 года назад
Well actually I went through about a three or four year. Where I didn’t have a motorcycle and a couple times a month I would rent. I would rent different Harley Davison‘s or Can-Am‘s and this particular business actually charged $1000 deposit. I never had any issues with the company and if you’ve got the disposable income, a lot of people actually do it. Now that I’m back to owning my own motorcycle obviously I don’t rent but I still word just to try out a new motorcycle that I’m curious about before buying so it is a pretty interesting passive income/business opportunity. I’m considering buying a couple of used bikes and seeing how it works out for me. I would never rent out my personal baby but I could see buying one or two maybe as much as three motorcycles just for the purpose of renting them out.

@@postersm7141 Have you heard if people can really make money doing this?
@shawnfechter2277
@shawnfechter2277 Год назад
Motorcycles are more expensive to rent than cars because the cost of insurance for the rental company is significantly more than for a car rental company. Have you ever looked at renting a 2 or 4 seat off-road vehicle? They go for $400 - $600 for a half-day rental. It's all perspective. If you live in New York and want to ride PCH, you fly to San Francisco, rent a motorcycle, then drop it off in LA and fly home. Whether it's Riders-Share, Twisted Road, or where I work, EagleRider, it's a lot less expensive and takes a lot less time than riding your own bike across the country for a three or four day tour.
