Should You Move to NYC? Advice for New Grads 

Native New Yorker here. NYC is VERY expensive. People should really go through the exercise and make some kind of rough budget and what kind of after tax income they would actually need. No doubt the actual amounts will surprise (shock?) some people. They also have to decide on what they will put up with as personal space.... do they absolutely want their own place...is 1 or 2 roommates ok.....are they willing to have 3 or 4 roommates? They also have to understand that Sex and the City was a great, but a fantasy show. Your last point is a very good one. NYC's total post war hegemony is long gone. Many other places have grown up and are now great places to live.
