So interesting! I am glad you're enjoying Seattle, I was born and raised there and moved 8 months ago to SoCal! Definitely needed some sunshine but sometimes I do miss the beautiful nature, especially clean drinking water 😂

I totally get it, my wife and I moved to SD with savings, I didn't find a gig till 3 months after so we're glad we moved with some cushion! Seattle might be next for us!
Kayser Nada I love SD! But definitely, I think especially after this year everyone has realized that having a least a little safety blanket is never a bad idea!
Planning on moving to Seattle from South Florida. Going to visit in June and hoping to fall in love with it… I’m moving alone so probably would be best to live in the downtown to meet people easier.

I really wanna get the Sony ZV-1 for vlogging cause its way more compact and still good quality for video but for photography id totally recommend my a6500!

My and my bf lived in Seattle for nearly TEN years. So glad to have moved out to the Midwest to CHEAP land. Got a 80 ACRES for not even $100,000, plan on building our home soon (an A-frame), having chickens, goats, a greenhouse, etc. Did my time in the city. I do miss the city at times, and loved Seattle, but glad to have left.

I currently live in Grants Pass which is even smaller than Salem if you’ve been there. It’s a good town but I’ve been wanting to leave, just visited Seattle for a few days after thinking about moving there. Needless to say, I’m definitely planning out the move lol. Thanks for the vid!

When you say affordable housing are you talking about housing for those on a fixed income of say $800 a month or affordable housing for those who like to live beyond their means. . .
Affordable can mean different things to different people but the program is based off of fixed prices according to your income. For those in the 50 percentile you would be paying $950 for a studio. So if you make 800$ a month then this program might not be a good option and you’d wanna go the route of maybe finding roommates on Craigslist or Facebook, which there’s obviously nothing wrong with that either I’ve gone that route as well but this was just giving options to those who may not have known about the program and can help them live within their means depending on their income.
@@KatieKH1 yes that is true but most people do not seek affordable unless they are poor. Usually people that can just do, do or they budget but they do not look for affordable housing. I make $800 a month, my rent is $460 a month. When I moved in it was affordable because it was less than half of my income. It was considered affordable because you had to meet a certain dollar amount to move in. In Seattle they have raised the bar on what qualifies as low income now. 80% of the area mediun income woukd mean that developers could create luxury apartments and rent to those who are making 80% of say 150 grand a year and still get $1,800 a month. So again I ask Affordable for who?
To ANYONE who has even considered moving to seattle, DONT, it is a complete dumpster fire, just spend 5 minutes on the internet looking up seattle and you will see why
@@KatieKH1 Uhh... The homeless problem? The rampant heroine and cocaine use? If you look you can usually find around 20 used needles within a few minutes
So I did it in 2017 so it might have changed, but I believe I just had to show them 6 recent pay stubs. For whichever apartment your'e looking into for the mfte units they are usually super helpful with letting you know every document you'll need to provide. I remember it being fairly simple but it was definitely time sensitive so that was the only difficulty that I can recall.

I'm moving from Florida but already accepted a position in Seattle, so I'm wondering how that's going to work as I won't have paystubs or other documents to provide to prove that my income at my new job qualifies me for MFTE. I can't seem to get hold of anyone at a leasing office who has an answer. If anyone has been thru this before let me know!

I would say you'd probably want to call maybe 6 weeks or so out from moving that way if you do find a place you'll still have time to give your current apartment proper notice but just enough time to be able to jump on a spot if one comes available! It can be tricky because you never know when a unit will be available but you also don't wanna call too early and then not actually be ready to move if that makes sense!
I'm moving to Seattle in a few months so this was really helpful! I'd personally love videos related to Seattle neighborhoods as well as day trips (like best day hikes, places you can get without a car, places to fly, etc) and any kind of rankings (best coffee shops, best thrift stores, etc).
Honestly not really no haha I could try and make a new updated video if that’s something people would wanna see but I’d probably say mostly the same stuff 😅

I can’t wait to move! Can you help me out with the MFTE program? Is it if you make 38K as an individual you qualify for the 50%? Like how do I read it?
Yes! So basically if you make anything from 31k-38k you’d qualify for the 50% limit and then anything over 38k-45k would be 60% and so on! Most apartment offices are super helpful with all the mfte questions too cause it can be overwhelming so don’t hesitate to ask them! It’s super competitive but totally worth it if you can score one!

Just visit for a vacation and see how you like it! I would wait until next year when things are more open hopefully, that way you can get the full experience! 👍🏼 July and August are great months to visit!
