Yeah but a con with linear is I just got too comfortable flicking my shots so I didn’t take the time it line up the shot so most of the shots that did connect would only hit for 30
Been playing linear since that option came out, but now I only play zero builds so I'm considering switching back to expo for the long range beams 🤷🏻♂️ Unfortunately left stick aiming only works well with the first person guns since left strafing resets the cross hair on the third person guns.. luckily we have the red eye right now so may not switch
I agree with Jake. I play on the lower sens side of Linear very similar to Mero’s but little slower so I can be accurate in long range and closer. You just need to pick a sensitivity that works for you, adjust if needed, and build the muscle memory
I've been using expo since i play ZB only. Its really good but gotta make sure all the boosts and stuff are adjusted correctly. And yes of course turning around 180° isn't as fast as i would like it to be.
Once again, great stuff. I wait for every video to see what I can learn. Would love an expansion on the other settings for controller like sensitivity and so on.
My reasoning for linear is that my shotgun flicks are way better on linear and if I miss my shotgun shot, I'm probably toast. If I miss an AR shot here and there, I'm probably still okay.
I just switched over 3 days ago and you’re spot on. I was on expo and didn’t know any different, then switched to liner and didn’t even play creative I was just straight into games. It felt weird at first and my AR accuracy definitely suffered but my shotgun aim and close range fighting greatly improved. And that’s where fights are lost or won. I’ve now gotten better with the AR aim again and I’m about 80% as accurate as I was on expo. Another week or 2 and I think I’ll be just as accurate as before.
I actually use expo but have the boost ramp time turned down and am slowly creeping up ads and turn speed % find it works good and slowly let’s me get snappier aim without it being jarring!
It’d be handy if you could switch between the 2 modes in-game and bind this to a button or paddle so you can be in the mode that suits the fight you’re in.
Jake man great job of being clear with these videos and giving your insight. I got a 20 kill win with my friend in Duos the previous game I had 16 with a win. Much of that is thanks to your videos!! Ive only been playing since Christmas!!
Great explanation. Been a keyboarder since season 1, so I don't know how long it would take to adapt but if I try a controller I know a lot more than I did - thanks!
never turned on the expo setting but i guess it was already like that so when legacy setting were a thing. i remember using linear and my building was sooo smooth and fast. it was like a night and day difference.
I was on expo for years then switched to linear a few months back. It’s a game changer for close range fights. Long range is not as good but just takes getting used to. Also having less stick movement from linear keeps my fingers locked on my paddles.
After this video I decided to give linear a try and jeez it turns out my shotgun aim is insane! I'm hitting crazy flicks left and right! I can never go back to expo after that. And with lower ADS sensitivity (12%) it's literally almost the same at distance as expo. I only added 10% (0.2s) of boost to ADS for emergencies and made vertical slightly lower than horizontal for regular view.
@@zilchetti Yeah, sure: it's 41vert\41hor; 0% boost, ADS: 12vert\12hor, 10% boost, 0.2s ramp up It makes it much easier to flick without ADS to the point where it's sometimes easier than tracking a target between shots so sometimes I will not even attempt to track, just flick when the next shot is ready but maybe it's just me :) ADS will feel a bit awkward after exponential, you'll need to get used to it
So i play no build only and im able to play alot im pretty accurate for most part with the ars we got in season 4 rn but always wondered if i should try expo bc of only playing no build
This helped. I started playing kind of by accident last Christmas (2021). Got my son a ps5 and started playing with him and got hooked on fortnite. I'm at 495 wins solo, 278 duo and 227 squad. Is that any good for a 45 yr old fortnite dad? I feel like it's so hard to win, especially solos, and playing with a controller. Anyway, this channel has helped so much.
I had no clue about linear or exponential. I switched over to exponential last night and even fixed the dead zone. What a difference in the damage ratio I am getting now. Fire fights are much shorter in duration and more accurate. Thanks Jake!
Jake, a couple questions...you know the microsoft elite xbox controllers with the different input curves you can choose from (on PC)? Do those supercede whatever you have selected in the game? Do you know anyone on controller that uses turning or ads boost settings and if so, is it usually an expo player that would benefit from these? Lastly, I bought one of those Gullikit controllers with the hall effect sensors that have practically zero deadzone and stick drift. Turning my deadzone to 1 or even 0% doesn't cause character movement on its own, but it does feel wildly sensitive. Idk it all feels like there's too many variables and nothing I change dials it in, just creates a different issue :(
I don't feel like I get the same aim assist in linear. Expo I start moving the aim a bit off and it'll pull back on target (med to long range w a scar or burst). I'm guessing linear moves it too far off the player.
The points regarding more accurate small movements is correct, but your point regarding going from max left to max right is not really correct... 100% left/right is the same whether you use expo or linear. If you go from max left to max right, the tiny fractions of a second you spend going through the middle will not be noticeable at all. The main point of using expo is to be able to make those small, precise movements near the inside of the stick, while still being able to make the large, fast movements when necessary. Source: Been building racing/freestyle FPV drones for nearly a decade, and expo is a main feature in these drones' radios.
I feel ok with both, after doing damage, I can mentally gauge someones health after some damage. Is it perfect every time? No but I feel that I still have a good time with either.
played linear from its release but switched to exponential due to spray meta in old sessions bc u can beam up close with spray, but never even turned back, should i give it a try as my shotgun aim isn’t as good as it was on linear
Hey, can u do a video about the exotic items? Dont know if theyre worth the keys/ gold. Using ur creator code btw. Ur videos are extremely helpfull. 🔥🔥🔥
TYSM for using my code! for the most part I dont use them the shadow tracker is nice but with the red eye in the game I dont really want to use that mutch
I’m on linear playing builds. I believe long distance eliminations are dishonorable and cowardly so making small adjustments aren’t an issue. When I switched to linear it was a great change in game play.
OK so I play build mostly but don't really on building at all except for occasional cover. Should I stick to expo since that'd what I'm on? I did switch to linear about 3 weeks ago and noticed I don't win nearly as much as I did b4 I switched. Thoughts? Ty
I think I might switch to linear because I've been doing a lot more building lately I tend to hit that ramp up point and then it goes way off the grid and I miss my edit
