Great video topic/ discussion. I consider myself an independent artist. I was a country singer/ performer years ago. I even went to Nashville. things didn't work out for me then. I wound up going to college and eventually a career in healthcare. I'm retired now and still have a dream of being a country singer/ performer. I've been learning and wearing all the hats that you mentioned. I find it quite rewarding. Now my career is in my hands. At some point I will start collaborating with others. Watching and getting to know influencers, mentors, fellow musicians like yourself has been a God Send. thank you for doing what you do and please continue to do so. I got FL studio around the time I got my first electric bass, I was surrounded by a bunch of 'lo-fi hiphop' producers and it seemed cool so I tried it out and was obviously terrible with using it. At that time I was massive into Adobe After Effects, doing weird visual shit on games like COD4 so I love love tinkering with creative software. Eventually my interest in learning my bass branched out to guitar and I used FL primarily to jot ideas down, ideas became more complex, then ideas became songs. I learned how to use FL at the same time as learning the guitar, so I never realised this was even a question... it just sorta natually occured that I taught myself guitar and I taught myself audio-engineering and mastering, though I admit I have a long way to go on all three. I've turned out to be massively passionate about all of it, everything about music from writing to performing to recording to mixing to mastering and now to sharing. It's all just ramped up recently where I have a nice workflow on writing and recording songs and now I have more time to venture into other arts, like I've been getting into painting. FUCKING PAINTING
I'm a one man band/producer. I have tought myself music production using Cubase and Reason. Before that I played keyboards since I was a teenager many years ago. I enjoy all aspects of music production but you never stop learning
Just wanted to throw it out there and say mad props to you being able to write and record a great professional video like this and stay musically inspired! I enjoy all aspects of the recording and producing process but it rings true about wearing too many hats when I have to make videos and content for social media to try and give my music a chance at breaking out. I definitely don't spend as much time on social media and self promotion as some others but I'm content mostly just making music for myself and working towards my career in other ways. Keep up the good work!
If they produce their own music that's in direct competition with my business.. If they can sure go ahead But if they can't well that may lead to a crappy song..
