Today I discuss my opinion on putting bigger tires on trucks. I give you some of the pros and cons that I believe are important when making this decision for yourself.
Thank you my good man. This is what I need to hear. With gas prices on the rise, I wondered about the mileage I would get from putting a 6 inch lift and 37's on my Ram. I appreciate the information.
I'm down sizing my tires on my truck due to getting older, the old sports injuries catching up to me. Climbing in and out is no longer. Small AT tires will do the job to all my favorite off-road camp spots & exploring.
Agree, I think I will just restore my stock suspension and stick with my 225/70R15 got enough ground clearance to do basic off roading for camping. Att that size I can already purchase entry level all terrain tires. Got a 2wd 2000 Ford ranger.
I got a 04 dodge Dakota v 8. Couldn't see over the hood. Put low profile 60 s on it but wide. Best thing I ever did! Can turn it now better and dosent "drag". Get better gas mileage and it holds the road! Stop sign you gas it. It takes off. F big tires it just drags... Look up spung weight and unsprung weight!
This is why I’ve decided to just stick with my stock size tires. Having to get speedometer recalibrated, spacers or links is just not worth the cost in money and drop in performance for just looks.
Thanks for the information. I bought a Ford Explorer 2007 and the vin calls for 17 “ it has 18” . I’ve been told that it can ruin the transmission. Is their any relationship between tires and transmissions. The tires are in great shape, should I put 17 “ ? Thanks
That's no necessarily going to hurt anything, the tire size would make more of a difference, your vehicle coul come with 16s 265/75/16 and someone changes to 17s with a 265/70/17 the 17s would be identical as far a size vs. If someone put a 285/75/17 then your changing diameter which depending on how much you changing it matters alot of pickups and suvs that wouldn't bee that big of a difference but if a vehicle is getting old and worn or is prone to have transmision failyres as it isight not be reccomended.
