Thank you for wading through the swamp of skin care by comparing ingredients, effects, and prices. Cerave for me and more money for food. Thanks again, much appreciate your time and effort.

Recently, I’ve been using the Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Cream by Pacifica Beauty ($18 for 1.7 oz). It has ceramides, a peptide, amino acids, niacinamide, and oat flour. It’s really soothing on areas where I have eczema flares, and I prefer the texture to the Cerave cream.
Love Pacifica! And their expansion of the vegan ceramide line, and vegan Collagen line makes me very happy. They seem to have good quality for friendlier prices.
That's a good one. I recently bought it and like the feel. It's a great night cream to use after the Geek&Gorgeous A-Game 10 Retinal. It's a shame my oily skin doesn't like it as a day moisturizer in warm weather.
My Pacifica cream is super weird almost like glue it has a very matte finish and dries down leaving white streaks I’ve never seen a product like this. Their lotion on the other hand is AAAMAZING. I wonder if I got a very bad batch of the Pacifica in the tub
I absolutely love Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream, it’s very effective on hydrating and moisturizing my skin and it has that luxurious feel on the skin and it absorbs really well without any tacky after feel. I use it after retinol or any other serums I use to seal in the active ingredients and to moisturize and build the skin barrier and it’s a steal! xD

When I worked in department stores years ago, I learned that there's about a 300% markup on cosmetics. Compare that to the 50% markup on clothes and you'll see how outrageous it is.
Actually, there is a 100% markup on clothes. When I was in high school, I did an internship with 2 of the women's clothes buyers of a major department store. What they can buy the clothes for, then turn around, and sell them for, is astonishing!
Dear Doctor Maren,I love your attitude ❤️,and it gives me a positive vibe to go forward.🙏💐❤️Thank you so much for walking through us to select what we should do according to our budget.❤️💐🙏

Thank you so much for the great videos you make! I used to be so overwhelmed with so many products on the market and didn’t know what my skin needed. Now my skin feels and looks much better, thanks to you. Please consider making a video specific about pores and additional things that can be done for under eye skin area targeting dryness and fine lines.
My skin doesn’t like lavender. I cringed the moment you said “peppermint.” I could never use that product. It’s not even a temptation. I can’t imagine it helping with the skin barrier given the essential oils. I like the Pacifica Beauty vegan ceramides cream for that purpose. It’s fragrance free and cruelty free.
Hi, I have a request for you. Can you talk about rosecea, please? I think sometimes it is very tricky when it comes to choose products because it's sensitive, the skin feels like a oven sometimes and also how to reduce the appearance of small blood vessels. Thank you

The AGE Eye Complex is absolutely amazing!! I've tried so many eye creams over the eyes and this is the only eye cream that I've noticed a visible difference in every aspect. It firms, brightens, tightens and just refines the whole eye area. I only use it once a day and the jar lasts 3 months so it's not too bad. I haven't tried the AGE Interrupter Moisturiser because it's out of my budget but my older sister uses it and loves it. This line is definitely worth it imo 🙂
I started to use the Cerave night cream on my forearms which are very dry nowadays and I am enjoying soft satriny skin there, now. Thank you for your videos.
Hi ouch $136 for a perfumed moisturiser lol. I have hyper sensitive, very dry, mature, rosacea and eczema prone skin and struggle to find a really rich night cream from many brands. Cereve burns/stings on my skin and skinfix isn't available in the UK. I normally use the LRP baby Lipikar AP+M face and body cream - 400mls for around £20. It's occlusive enough to lock in my other skincare and due to the large size I can slather it on without any concern re the cost. It has ceramides and some niacinamide, as well as other deeply moisturising/soothing ingredients (the baby formulation has a better INCI list than the regular version). For something a bit lighter the baby cicaplast is a favourite, or the Avene cicalfate is a little heavier than the cicaplast - both of these are ultra soothing. I also like the cetaphil redness relief night cream during warmer weather - also soothing on the skin. I have super dry skin and need a rich/emollient/occlusive moisturiser all year around really, but the Scottish winter can be harsh. If I want to spend a little more then the omega cream or the clinical dry skin cream from paula's choice are both favourites at around £34. In any case I spend on my retinaldehyde and spf, but save on the other steps in my routine and still have a good anti aging routine (I use prescription azelaic acid in the morning). Best wishes.
Great info! Advice for mature skin? Any favorites for the neck area? I’m 70, very few light lines, haven’t used retinol, have been using Rose Hip oil as a serum, now using Acure Bakuchiol Serum, both are light, soaks in. Then I use any moisturizer-usually FAB or ERA Organics. My once oily skin is dryer. It’s a challenge adjusting to changes in the skin, scalp. I avoid retinol, no tolerance or patience with the irritation, burning. I use sunscreen, wear hats. Thank you-great channel!
For the neck, I seem to recall a derm recommending Eucerin Q10 anti-wrinkle cream or inkey list q10 antioxidant serum or DRMTLGY age reversal neck cream but using your regular moisturizer helps as well. I've also seen some derms recommend those silicone patches (like the Sio).
Most dermatologists recommend using the same cream on your face and neck, because if if works on your face, it works on your neck. Only exception is retinol, but you don’t have to worry about that since you don’t use it. Those anti-aging creams d b recommended will anti-age your face too. If your skin is dry, you could use the bakuchiol serum first, then moisturiser and seal it all in with the rosehip oil.
@@db-gb5xi those silicone patches only work temporarily, they don’t really help with any issues. Because you can't use your skincare under them, your issues can actually get worse over time. A consistent skincare routine is more important than those silicone patches.
Beautypedia lists so many affordable, even drugstore, great moisturizers. 5 stars. One is the Crrave PM. Others are Inkey List, Tumeric, Multi-biotic and Hemp moisturizers. Boots No 7 Skin Hydrating Paste. Cetaphil Soothing Gel Cream. Cerave baby moisturizing lotion. Therr are more on the site. Many under $20, or even under $15 or $10. Often at places where coupons are avail.
I am a little confused. I have watched some of your other videos talking about using retinoids at night and then using a moisturizer that does not have hyaluronic acid in it. In this video you are promoting using CeraVe skin renewing night cream, which has hyaluronic acid in it. Should this be used or not if you are using a retinoid at night?
I have been using la Roche posay effaclar hyaluronique because I am 45 and have few acne problems. When should I use it in my routine. In the morning before or after vit c serum?
Thank you so much for this Doc, unfortunately I have a bit of a damaged barrier from picking old spot but I don’t like Cereve, but I love the look of the other 2 creams, or a budget option for barrier repair for me would either be elf Holy Hydration or something from either Vanicream or feta Phil as they are much nicer for my skin than Cerave. Thanks Doc, Love ❤️ Tia xxx
I've tried the skinfix+ Triple Lipid Peptide cream, it was okay then I was looking on TikTok about it and then I came across the CeraVe Night Renewing Cream and wow. I prefer the CeraVe soooo much more.
Thank you Dr. Locke for doing these videos. I like the Cerave option but it contains myristic acid, do you think shouldn't be a problem for a combination skin causing breakouts? thanks you for your response.
Love your videos and your honest opinion! 🙏🏻👍🏻 Can you talk about living factors on anti-aging care? Do we really need something with living factors like osmosis? Thank you! :)
So is the cerave skin renewing night cream on for acne prone?? I’m acne prone but dry from tretinoin so want something thick for winter to go on top! I sandwich. Thought I could do cerave pm first then tret then cerave skin renewing cream. Thoughts?! Love your channel I am subscribing now! P
Funny that I came across this video - I am almost out of the Triple Lipid Repair (I bought 3 jars at once!) and have been thinking about replacing it with something a bit more budget friendly. I think I'll try the SkinFix!
Cerave is way more effective for oily skin. I am referring to the cerave moisturizing cream. Most derms actually use it. The ingredients there are gold.
I use skinceuticals in the day and skinfix at night. If I had to choose, I would stick with my skinceuticals. I have tried so many different moisturizers in any budget range, and even from korea (I travel there or have family that travel there) and nothing feels as nice as the skinceuticals triple lipid and soaks in as quickly!! I came here hoping this video could convince me to stop dropping big coin on this moisturizer... but sadly, I'm not convinced yet
Can you suggest something for broken veins across the cheeks and nose? I can't even cover it with cosmetics successfully anymore. I'm a 67 year old lady, so aging isn't helping this condition much, either. 🥺
Thank you for the product suggestions! I would never pay $136 for a cream. I would love to see a review of the Truth Treatments most popular products, they seem very interesting.
Such a helpful video! Is using the skinfix cream at night and the skinfix gel during the day a good option . . or are they too similar and I should choose something different for a daytime moisturizer? Also, how many pumps of the skinfix cream would I need to use every night?
Got the CeraVe night cream on your recommendation a while ago, and really like it, thanks! Off topic, the Drunk Elephant Vitamin C you recommended has changed formula and has lots of negative comments, and the Skin Ceuticals do too for some reason. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I have a question about Skinfix. It has HA in it, and all of the skin care YT's say to use a protector over it because it not only lets moisture into your skin, but also takes it out, so one can wind up with dry skin without protection. (?) Call me confused 😮
I've also seen the skinfix recommended as a dupe for the de protini product. Another cerave product I've seen recommended as a more affordable option for the skinceuticals is the moisturizing cream.
Skinfix doesn’t even have peptides nor does it have any amino acids like protini. It’s the furthest thing from a dupe I’ve ever seen or used. Also skinfix texture is super emollient to the point of almost being greasy while protini is more of a gel that doesn’t grease up better for combo skin. I think it’s comparable to lala retro but LaLa retro is also less oily which is unfortunate because it’s so stupidly expensive
It does seem odd to label something as having peptides and then not having any (unless is named something completely different than most peptides. It does have ceramides and phytosphingosine which is a lipid. Oddly enough the gel version for oily skin does have a peptide in it. @@angelinebiswas7611
Doctor would you please do a video on The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres... is it too much Vit C and does it do your skin any good? Thank you
Hi Dr. Locke! I have a question regarding anti-aging serums, creams, etc., Since people are being urged to start an anti-ageing skin regimen while they're still in their twenties, wouldn't that skew the results of any anti-ageing product? I mean there are a lot of us who didn't start their regimens until we were in our 40s - 50s (excluding using SPF 30-50 on a daily basis). So when we're looking for a new serum or cream to try to help with our wrinkles/crinkles and fine lines, we'll buy the product based on the reviews and then quite possibly not have the same positive results as the younger compatriots. This doesn't seem quite fair to me and while I'm not trying to dissuade younger people from starting sooner than we did, it just doesn't seem honest. I'm curious as to your thoughts about this situation.
I think most of the studies are done on mature skin. Doing a test on already young skin won’t show a difference now, the study would take decades. Trying the cream on mature skin for a few months shows results better and faster. You can’t really see preventative anti-aging, unless you wait until that 20-year-old is 50, but seeing if wrinkles on an older person get softer or not is easy to see and easy to document.
I have some of the least sensitive skin out there, but peppermint oil is my kryptonite. It smells great in the diffuser, but when it touches my skin... OW! I now know I'll never try that product! I have good luck using some Pacifica products instead.
Brandefy makes what they call a “dupe” for the triple lipid cream, it’s called Skincall Silks Triple Lipid Cream, do you have an opinion on this one? I bought it, it’s about half the price at $60 without the fragrance, but I’m unsure about it….
Hi:) my question is on how to properly use the Avene Retrinal eye cream. Do you recommend to use it every night or 2,3 times a night. & Can it b used in the day time:)
They should make a version of the triple lipid cream with no essential oils. I would probably consider it. I like the ingredient profile, minus the fragrance.
At what point do you add in products to decrease hyperpigmentation of acne scarring and texture from when you’ve had acne? Do you have to have had acne clear for a certain number of months first?
It’s so nice to see a Derm who isn’t negative about fragrances! I love nice smelling products like Hydra Zen gel cream!! By Lancome💜 for anti ageing though I’ll mix my Rx tretinoin with it or with another fav cream of mine, Erno Laszlo firming cream💜. I have oily skin so my barrier is fine, just need firming and smoothing. Thx for this video!
The reason so many Derms are against fragrance, is the is classified as an irritant. Some people might not be irritating by fragrance, but a lot of people are.
I’ve always heard from all dermatologist that fragrances and oils destroy the skin . Also Paula’s choice talks about how bad fragrances are for you and essential oils and how they destroy skin also bad alcohols. I really appreciate when you give us all those fragrance free favorites . Thank you
Hello doctor! Personally I feel like I'm back to square one😫. I was following your advice on RetrinAL specifically the brand Avene, my skin never looked better. But, I began to notice my eyes were constantly hurting me and even my cell phone was just too much for my eyes to handle. Anyhow I began to research that for some people it can be very damaging to the eyes unfortunately I guess that is me. So I was wondering if you can do an anti aging routine without retrinAl. I feel pretty sad to let it go considering how my skin had greatly improved, I'm in my early 40s so any anti aging routine that you feel I could benefit from, since I guess I am sensitive to that ingredient, please share your knowledge. Thank you for all your great tips!!
Some dermatologists recommend using a different moisturiser around your eyes first and then avoiding the eye area with the retinal, if your eyes are the only issue you could still use it on the rest of your face. There’s retinol eye creams that are milder, so you could try those, depending on your eyes sensitivity to the ingredient. RetinOl is milder than retinAl, and eye creams usually have less of it. If you can’t tolerate any of it around your eyes, the best bet is probably peptides.
Also Thrive cosmetics defying gravity cream is pretty good. Nice ingredient list. $48 for 1.7oz. Did you ever look into La Mer products. People swear by it and say it’s worth the money. I need an unbiased experts opinion. I’ve seen see dermatologists say it’s worth it which shocked me to tell the truth but I don’t know if their links were an affiliation.
