This is the best constructed roster in the Embiid era ON PAPER including the coaching staff, spacing, versatility, veteran experience, defense, a LEGIT backup big, shot creating, and wing depth 🔥🔔🔥
@@tedguanzon3499 Nope. Simmons lack of spacing clogged the floor which forced Coaching to put him in DUNKERS SPOT ISLAND during the playoffs. Unfortunately that caused Embiid to be guarded by multiple defenders near the post during that Raptors series resulting in a below average playoff performance that year. The roster’s depth was also shaky overall minus their starting lineup
I've been saying for years that an Embiid-led team can only be successful if it's led by someone else and people just pretend it's not. I thought that when the Knicks rumors when happening and I think that now. Maybe Maxey can be that guy?
Maxey has shown he IS that guy in the playoffs vs the Knicks. PG is still an elite shooter off the catch who can punish defenders trying to guard Embiid-Maxey PnR unlike Tobias Harris. The most encouraging thing from media day was hearing Embiid say he's confident in Maxey and wants to empower him to take over this season. Now, Embiid just needs to stay healthy and focus on defense whilst letting Maxey and PG cook!
This is frankly dumb. Embiid is a generational scorer, hes not gonna take a seat back to maxey or especially paul george. The team would be worse off if embiid sacrificed his scoring for defense
@@chrilpy you gonna be sitting for a while waiting for it not to happen because we all know you aint gonna get up when they dont stink it up. Gonna hide your face real quick.
We keep doing this thing where any team that Paul George gets added to we get super hyped about… when ultimately it fails. I’m not saying that it what’s going to happen, but we have a couple precedents
I don’t think there’s really a common denominator anywhere though… thunder just didn’t have a good enough roster around him and Russ, clippers were never healthy. Granted Philly has health questions too but having a healthy star who shows up in the playoffs in Maxey is certainly a new part
Lowry has a ring and the others are almost always hurt in the playoffs. PG has led several teams to the conference finals so at least he has that over Embiid
@@persistentlypathetic6820 I wouldn’t say Lowry choked series away he just had to play Lebron damn near every year. Winning a ring as the 3rd arguably second best player on the team is impressive even if it only happened once
After 2019, and especially after 2021, losing to the Hawks, I stopped "trusting the process". I understand this roster is damn near even better than the 2019 one but overall, idk, sixers have always found a way to lose. But For Sixers fans that are excited, no shame. This is the best roster yall got, but best remember, this roster is Conference Finals Appearance or Bust. At least a Conference Finals appearance. If u get to the Conference Finals, Id consider it a W and something to look forward to in the next season, if farther, even better.
@@kennethxu1789 how can you trust maxey and not embiid in the off's, i'd understand the talk about depth, wing size and rebounding, but not including embiid in that sentence when he helps elevate maxey's game is confusing to say the least
@@averagesixersfan9778that fraud MVP average 22.3 ppg shooting 7-19 38.6% FG in game 7. He's 0-3 in game 7. Tobias Harris outscored him in Celtics game last year. How can you trust that bum.
Embiids weight loss is not a needle mover at all, this story has repeated for the last 5 or so preseasons with him. He always just puts the weight back on while continuing to not take his conditioning seriously, and when they lose he'll blame someone else. Rinse and repeat. We will see that headline again 12 months from now.
Until I'm proven wrong, the 76ers are a perennial second round exit team. I don't care what the circumstances are. Healthy, injured, what the opponent, I don't care. Paul George is a playoff career underperformer and choker. Joel is either injured during the most important games, checks out mentally, or both. When the two dudes making the most money on the team have 0 killer instinct when the chips are down and the lights are bright, how am I supposed to believe in them?
things like the idea of killer instinct are what's wrong with basketball talk, lets talk about it like we talk about football. The team in terms of fit is far better than in years past and we actually have a backup center, something that if you look at historically in the playoffs, we haven't had, we have solid bench depth albeit that is a question mark and something that will likely be improved by the deadline with kj martin's balloon contract and 4 firsts to trade
How many times are we going to say “This is the best roster Joel has ever had around him.” Think about all the iterations, with no playoff success. I’m not buying it at all until he is healthy in the playoffs.
Its not the best roster he's ever had. That would be the 18-19 sixers. It may very well be the deepest roster he's ever had though. Only time will tell however.
I've been saying for years that an Embiid-led team can only be successful if it's led by someone else and people just pretend it's not. I thought that when the Knicks rumors when happening and I think that now. Maybe Maxey can be that guy?
I just wanna point out that plus-minus stat you mentioned doesn't represent 4th quarter meltdowns from him, which we have seen plenty of in the post-season. More than just being healthy, I truly believe Embiid's game doesn't translate into the playoffs intensity and "harder" whistle. I understand his presence alone influences the gravity of the game, but that wont be enough, especially taking into account that 76ers defence wont be one of the best in the league (in my opinion). Plus, it's not only Embiid's health they have to worry about now but PG's also.
@@alexescutia4805 stop talking the past especially when you didn’t win shit😂 Let me when know when they actually contend and aren’t a cinderella franchise 😂 after this year it’s set in stone maxey way better than hero (especially in the playoffs) and bulter is gonna stay until he retires 😂😂 FINISHED FRANCHISE…NEXT
"Trust" and "Paul George" should never be put in the same sentence. Philly fans gonna learn real quick, when he drops a stinker and immediately hops on his podcast, putting out excuses
@@Visokolovic yea I mean injuries and being young before and etc ply in and referees gave Boston and knocked the past two series ….if you actually watched and embiid played on one leg and one eye and still did his best
Embiid and PG? Not trusting it on the injury concern alone. Both in the Playoffs is also a big concern. But Guard, Forward, Center is a good mix of "stars"
Embiid plays through his injuries with regularity, Kawhi doesn’t. A player playing at 50% is still gonna get more benefit of the doubt than a player who’s not playing
I recall he was getting triple teamed against the Nets that year and then tore/injured his meniscus causing him to miss 2 games against the Celtics. But yeah other than that, complete mystery why he dropped off.
The Sixers are following the Clippers footsteps at some degree. "If Kawhi was healthy the Clippers would win the chip", "If Embiid was healthy they would win". Even though I'm a Thunder fan, I'd like to finally see a healthy Embiid for once.
even in kawhi was helthy he wouldnt win a champ his team sucks now i cant lie. james harden just brings down the team. this is different and they are actually doing things to get joel embiid into the playoffs without injurys
If the Sixers make the ECF this year after Embiid lost 30 pounds, Sixers fans will be pissed. They would be like, "Muhfucka, after all this time, losing 30 pounds is all it took for you to finally reach the ECF?! We been telling you to drop weight!"
Sorry, but my trust in Embiid is basically zero at this point. The 76ers have a better shot if they make Maxey The Guy and build around him going forward. I mean, yeah, they could just wait for the Celtics' inevitable cap crunch, but Embiid's only getting older.
delusional considering that embiid had a 60 point net swing with his on off numbers, embiid elevates maxey's game to such an incredible degree its insane
@@averagesixersfan9778 Out in the first round last year. Out in the 2nd round the year he won MVP. None of those fancy imaginary numbers translate to getting past the second round, so what good are they?
@@shorewall ok s his team getting killed with him off the floor by at times 15 points in the matter of 3-5 minutes has nothing at all to do with the fact he hasn't made it past the second round? idc how good you are you aren't gonna win a series if your team gets killed with you off of it, that is an objective fact
Didn’t hear you mention how in this knicks series he not only had bells Palsy, he also had been back for like 2 weeks after a significant knee injury. And he was still throwing down like 30+ppg while HOBLIN Also, to your point about this being the most compelling roster of guys- I’m glad you brought up something I don’t hear a lot: that, yes the good Ben Simmons time, the time with jimmy, the harden year was actually very very good the vibes were out of control (sadly we still had doc as coach then, and maxey was still on his ascent)- but I’m glad you mentioned how brief those eras were. What teams like Boston and the nuggets have as a huge advantage over Philly is that these teams have had YEARS to gel. It’s such an underrated aspect of the game. Ppl seem to think if you just slam a bunch of talent together then that should be enough, but the value of teams finding a shared language and shared voice out on the floor can not be overstated. And I feel like this year the sixers have that more than than those aforementioned eras. Yeah, pg is new, but his fit with this team is so god damn good that I think he’ll jive with the guys way sooner than, like kd, harden, And kyrie
After thoroughly analyzing the post season results of Joel Embiids 8 year career with the teams he has had, I absolutely trust the Sixers to stay out of the ECF 👍🏽
The 2019 team with Ben, JJ, Jimmy, Tobias, and Joel is a better top 5. But the depth is much better now than it was then. Greg Monroe was our backup C. Joel had like close to a Plus 100 for the series against the Raptors and lost.
Respectfully... Joel is a choker. And he's never fully healthy. Maybe if he was on another team. But I man everytime u think they can get through a hump. Something happens...
I feel like the Andre Drummond signing kinda got pushed into the background but I think it’s huge. Having a legit center behind Embiid is HUGEEE cause Paul reed and mo bamba did not cut it when Embiid went down last year
Love your content Kenny and been following for years but that opening statement about the front office doing right by Embiid couldn’t be further from the truth. Mind you this is the same front office that has: - Had executives badmouth him with burner accounts to increase Ben Simmons’ stock - Bend over backwards to cater to Simmons’ only for him to underperform, never improve and eventually outright not play - Hamstrung the team for 5 years by overpaying for Tobias with a MAX - Made Jimmy leave (Yes MADE, because he saw all the nonsense over here) - Wasted 3 years on Doc Rivers This is an organization that has failed its star player time and time again and I say this as a diehard Sixers’ fan. We’re honestly lucky he never forced a trade through all this nonsense. This is the first year we really have a competent team in front of us that might not roll over and die in the non-Embiid minutes. It only took until year 9 to get there
As a Sixers fan, I just pray for Jo health. If he's healthy and plays bad, I will accept our fate. But the luck we've had with these injuries is insane
If there was a time to win it it’s now this is the best it’s going to get for embiid one of the best coaches in the league 2 all nba caliber players solid role players just need to stay healthy
Not always they started building towards him after Benjamin David Simmons left. Before then they just signed unathletic wings that couldn't create their own shot.
Coaches and teammates may have changed over the years but the truth remains, a Joel Embiid lead team is a second round exit. Till then I won't believe others. Just like the Ben Simmons summer work videos where hes hitting 3s, I'll believe it when it happens.
yall forgetting maxey averaged 30 7 and 6 in the playoffs. Tobias averaged 9 ppg in the playoffs we swap him out with pg13. Joel was averaging 35 11 and 5 pre injury and now drummond can be our starting 5 so joel can sit out some games. We have a top 5 coach. Boston and health are my only worries as a sixers fan and health is more of a threat than boston
If McCain develops somewhere between Matisse and Maxey, I give this team a 3 year window. But we have to find a real 4, I don't like our current personnel. And honestly I haven't for a while, not Tobi fault though. Ben should've been at the 4.
