Short answer? YES!😉 I recently got hold of a 2009 vintage 12Mp APS-C Pentax K-x and I am very impressed. It’s FAR from perfect given my subjective preferences but it is HIGHLY capable. The worst critique I could bring against it is that it is very heavy on AA batteries…and that it is APS-C🤪😂
"But I still can't see any exposure confirmation, not even a plus or minus sign." Hmm. You're looking at the exposure meter, it's just below the ISO indicator. There should be a readout inside the viewfinder too. Incidentally, when shooting M mode you can set a metered shutter speed using the green button. I've never used a K-r. I have a K-S1 (introduced 2014) which is one of the smallest DSLRs ever, and nonetheless has a good pentaprism viewfinder. It's quirky and less refined than later models, but I'm getting use out of it.
I have the Pentax KR and Kx. I also gave a Kr to a friend. I find it quite intuitive but it alsoshas lots of lenses you can use on it. I have shot weddings on the Kr and the Kx. These days I shoot more often with canon if I am doing events. I also like M43. We have so much choice and then as you said our phones are pretty good.I think I could shoot a wedding with a phone.I am actually retired from shooting weddings now. Thanks for posting. Geoff
@@MarcoAries 😀👍 You go to 'Digital Filters' and then 'High Conttast'. Then sharpness - or the lack thereof - is no issue anymore 😀 Everything becomes artful 😊
I absolutely fell in love with my PENTAX K-x and then found a K-r like new for not much money right after my first acquisition and I use them both constantly. I do not see much difference between the two. I use a Sigma 18-125mm, the 18-55mm or the 55-250mm. Great video and it resonated immediately my my PENTAX inspirations lately 😀
@@MarcoAries I feel your frustration but you only get those advancements on an upgraded camera model unfortunately. I have the same problem with my Pentax I use sometimes if I have the time I can correct the exposure in the next photo. It’s still worth it if you like its other features.
Sure sure, you can't ask too much from a 15 years old camera, I just find funny how some digital cameras were less intuitive to use than older film ones 😅
I've been using my Nikon d3000 since 2010 for events like performances, weddings, family shoots etc and it hasn't let me down ever but somehow at a wedding party... and MY WEDDING PARTY, I had it on a preset like I always do, the same presets I have used over the last few years according to the conditions and to my horror a fifth of my photos came out overexposed /absolute crying!!!1 I had to pass it around as I was the bride lol and we hadn't been able to get a specific photographer at the last minute. I have done this before and I've always trusted the results but it seems that it wasn't anybody's fault, like literally the photos I managed to snap myself some were overexposed, it was really bad luck and I don't know - how is this possible? It was like bad magic :P I managed to salvage some with PS but otherwise the over-overexposed ones were haloed to the point of no return /cries some more.
Maybe it glitched out, or maybe it was struggling with the lights at the venue. Two winters ago one if my cameras would freak out below 15°C, but this last winter it only glitched a couple times...
@@MarcoAries So it does happen this glitching?! I feel a bit consoled lol thanks man. Interesting to know though - I mean we used the same camera back at our other wedding party in Singapore (tropical, sun, blue sky, indoors with glass walls and outdoors, same presets), and here in the UK (summer, blue sky, marquee, slightly different presets)... Is it possible that it caught on the whites of the marquee? I never really thought about it!
U used K5 till 2020 and now my main camera is K3mk1. No need to upgrade. Kr has several limitations since it is entry level body. But controls are really easy.
i have this camera. i use it with pentax-m lenses. i often rely on the green hexagon in focus indicator in the viewfinder or red led dot. the movie mode is pretty useless, a battery hog. nice high clean iso rendition. if you can get one for 100 american dollars with a kit lens, it's a bargain. did i mention i have the aa battery adaptor? a must have.
