Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

Hi, I use powdered goat’s milk from Amazon. Works beautifully, do not have to freeze it, doesn’t scotch, add it directly to the oils.

Great video as always but one word stood out ......."Chuffed" - that's so British 😊 Did have a go with goats milk once but things didn't go well and it's the closest I've been to retching in the kitchen since getting tripe for the dog🤣

I make goats milk soap exclusively. I don’t allow my milk/lye solution temps to exceed 100° and during gel phase my loaves never exceed 150° (usually they stay closer to 140°) Would I then in theory preserve a little more of the goodness of milk bc my temps do not exceed 160?

Me too, absolutely LOVE goat milk soap! My first soap ever was Goat Milk & Honey. It got really hot and the top cracked (even in the freezer), but it was awesome! 😂

THANK YOU! For creating this video. I have a new neighbor who has opened a small farm/dairy. I just spoke to her days ago about making soap with milk purchased from her. I have begun researching just tonight. I’ve received a blessing through you.

Omg that comment you left made me lol 😂! I feel for you being sick, my son’s friend had Covid and he brought it home with him so we’ve been horrible sick too but I’m always greatful when I get sick that it’s NOT a throwing up sick so yay for that blessing lol I have this cough now that just isn’t going away so that’s fun too. I hope you get feeling better really soon! Lots of great vibes to you ❤️. Love this soap! I’ve only done the powder goats milk and once I did a canned coconut cream milk and that one made my lye solution solidify to a pudding consistency lol it was wild! Still soaped and though it was a bit thickums, I still got an interesting swirl. I love making soap, it’s always an adventure 😂

I came across an article when I was doing research, Cleopatra's donkey milk baths, and how by the time the bath was filled, how it must have soured and smelled in the Egyptian heat...so, sour milk its all good in my thoughts...but I do wonder how the pioneers managed to freeze milk, and if they could would they not use it for human consumption?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay 2 месяца назад
I mean, coming from pioneer stock, actual trips across the country meant little milk and it was consumed every day. Until fridges and what not, there were cold storage buildings made out of stone or rocks or whatever that they’d stick stuff in to keep coolish, but fridges generally were a game changer for everyone!
