They are still making a lot of money off of the current Wicked touring performances, so they apparently have little incentive to release a complete performance video or movie right now. In any case, I would much rather experience Wicked in a live performance rather than watching it on the big (or small) screen. I got to see the current North America tour last week in Omaha, and they did a fabulous job.
@@alemobra5747Painless for the brainless? Fraughtless for the thoughtless? Dancing?? How he’s seemingly hanging onto the air with how he glided across the stage? Did you not get that Fiyero becomes ScareCrow? I mean he even gets strung up in a cornfield, beaten half to death and reawakened with magic from the big book of OZ’s spells during No Good Deed!
I’m currently reading the book that lead to the musical (veeeeeery different to the musical much more adult) but idina fit the description of book Elphiba 100%
I think he looks great for his age. He was in his 30s here which is old for a Fiyero...but his voice is just so suave, so confident...that smile, that hair, those moves!
I was thinking the same. Wicked actually has the feel of a more subversive Disney movie. The energy of the musical would be easier to convey in an animated movie.
Kristin sounds almost the exact same as she did before but Idina seems to struggle with the high F in Defying Gravity now, not sure if she’d be able to do it. I’m personally voting for either Lindsay Heather Pierce, the current Elphaba, or Amber Riley for Elphaba. I honestly think Amber would do amazing in that role.
Yep they were all in their mid to late 30s playing college aged kids. I guess they aged through the course of the play and probably were in their late 20s to early 30s by the end.
this is the most amazing broadway show ever! i know all the lyrics to all the songs and im going to see it in april but i can not wait my sister and i love this musical. she actually got me started on it. right now she lives in the marshal islands and when she comes to visit when we get home from the airport we stay up all night listening to wicked and singing the songs and she acts like glenda and i act like elphaba and we have so much fun so listening to wicked means a lot to me :D
it is so amazing to see norbert leo butz do this! and then after that see aaron tveit do this very number, and then see the two fiyeros in catch me if you can !
To Katie Ko: Norbert's amazing, but no, there have been so many Fiyero's in the world:Derek Klena, Aaron Tveit, Kyle Dean Massey, Taye Diggs. So yeah, Norbert's not the only one!
people forget the original casts are part of the process of developing a character. they are the benchmark. if later actor can do better, so be it. But do not take away the efforts of the original casts of creating characters we enjoy up to this day.
1) norbert is so cute oml 2) i feel like the line "life is painless for the brainless" is significant in 2 ways. the first way is that he obviously becomes the scarecrow. 2nd, i feel like sometimes he treats glinda like she's just an object and at the beginning he kinda thinks she's brainless and just a hopeless romantic anyways that's my analogy thanks :)
Yes you're ;-) Like every musicals which run since few years, Wicked changes a little bit all the time ! They add or remove this or that. As you can see, Glinda's dress and hair style are also different from the others :-) Sorry, I'm not an english speaker but I try :-p
Does anybody know where I can find a recording of the last part of this song (when Elphie and Glinda were dancing awkwardly until everybody else joined in)? It's not even included in the album version of this song
I loved that part!! My sister and I were laughing so hard when we saw it because we had no idea it was coming - did you ever find an online version with it??
original Fiyero reminds me of Seymour from Little Shop Of Horrors, also I'm not a big fan of his portrayal of Fiyero. I know there's nothing like an original, but in this case there is (atleast in my opinion anyway) I saw the touring cast in Bradford (UK Tour) 2 months ago and it was INCREDIBLE and the guy who played Fiyero then (Bradley Jaden) has to be my favourite portrayal of him! He also played Enjolras in Les Miserables in the 30th anniversary cast on the West End (he was a great Enjolras too!)
I must have gone to the bathroom during this part, cause I don't remember this at all....matter of fact, if Chenoweth wasn't in there I would have doubted that this was even Wicked!
Aaron Tveit is just...the best in general! xD I mean, come on, he played two of my favorite characters in two of my favorite musicals and that boys got moves! 8D ,
@GingerKat3 That's true and I don't think he did a bad job or anything on fact I really like his acting and singing I just think he looks too old for the part that's all. It's a school and he looks like he hasn't been in school for at least ten or so years. I like him but I don't think he looks the part. Idk it's just my opinion probably cause all the actors I've seen since him did have that look I was looking for. Still like him tho
It works with the story though. He’s been kicked out of schools and isn’t progressing or even has to keep starting over,…makes sense that he’d be older than the rest of them.

I think he has a good voice and i like him, but he looks too old for the part to me... idk it's just my opinion that he should probably at least look younger - they are at college aren't they?
norbert leo butz was not a good casting fit for the original fiyero. someone like kyle dean massey is the PERFECT fiyero. he should have originated it.
