Now I have the urge to make a counter-parody. Harvestman, Harvestman... sneaks around like Slenderman... It has no web but soon you'll be dead Watch out for Harvestman!
Happy Weekend! Please enjoy Show of the Week, featuring our five favourite Marvel games and introducing original British superhero Captain Spider-Chap (TM):
I remember in the tutorial for Spider-Man 2 when you were told to jump off the roof, so instead I tried crawling off the edge to see what would happen. The game faded to black, I was back on the roof and Bruce Campbell told me off for not listening to him. Good times...
Patrick McCurry dude if they made a robot with the intelligence level and thinking ability of a cat... I'd say the singularity was right astound the corner. We're nowhere remotely near that level. Not deep mind, not AlphaGo, none that we know of are even in the ball park.
Fairly sure we've established that Mike is a robot, Ellen is a cat robot, Luke is a blue whale robot, James is a goat, and Andy has actually been a clone of a sentient planet for going on 2 years. Keep your OXEU canon straight, Jane.
There already is a British Spider-Man. William Braddock, goes by Spider-UK. And he does in fact wear a red and blue Union Jack spider-suit. No, tailcoat and top hat unfortunately.
Oh, and that thing about harvestmen ("Daddy Longlegs" for us Yankees) having extremely powerful venom but fangs too short to pierce skin is complete bollocks. It also doesn't make a lick of sense-why waste resources producing ridiculously powerful venom without also spending resources that let you use that venom on something?
Since Andy seems to have clocked off for the weekend, and I am the Andy on-call tonight, I'll pick this one up on his behalf; BOOOOOOOO! BOO! ... ... boo.
LEGGLE MARVOS! Also I did enjoy the Deadpool video game, but mostly for the jokes and that stuff. So I do understand why Deadpool, didn't make your top 5 of Marvel video games.
Harvestmen aren't venomous, unless... Jane, have you been genetically engineering deadly harvestmen only to discover their jaws are too weak to do your binding?
I can't believe Marvel Ultimate Alliance didn't make the top five, that game was awesome! and it even had those pesky tough choices games have these days.
Bailey Alexis Snow pretty sure Andy is an evil *clone* cos he has disappeared alot and then mysteriously re-appeared with no knowledge of where he's been
Actually Mike being a robot all along makes sense. Remember that time he had his brain put into a robot for that Borderlands 2 episode? It was just a copy an paste memory transfer!
You guys warning us arachnophobes to look away made me fall in love with this channel once again. As a person who couldnt play skyrim more than 15 minutes because of the cave at start, this really saved me a panic attack!
Really enjoying these longer SotWs, a bit more rambly in the Oxtra style and the trio are just as fun to watch, laughed out load at the StudLust bit :D
Jane, Dazzler is dazzlingly good if you read the comics - in one alternate future she becomes the first mutant president of the USA! Possibly the first female president too... after Lisa Simpson ;)
Whaaaaat, I've never heard of The Dazzler - a disco rollerblader turning sounds into light beams?? She sounds like the best superhero... although yeah Jubilee probs looks the coolest
I really like the (possibly new?) conversational list format compared to the old voice-over list format in previous Show of the Weeks! Mike and Jane were really funny!
I think we call harvest spiders, daddy long legs over here in the States. Was that a laugh of relief from Jane when Mike said all criminals were located only in downtown London?
Honestly one of the best Show of the Weeks ever! Really just so enjoyable. And extra points for another Tim Curry SPACE! As long as you're using it OXBOX, it will never be overused or unfunny.
Jubilee is one of the most powerful mutants around. Her 'little pops' are her actually converting air molecules directly to energy. Jane can explain to you WHY that is so powerful.
I've been reading comics for almost 20 years and I never noticed that Jane is an actual Jubilee cosplay. And she has also proven how much she enjoys explosions with her space program!!
My brother and I played a lot of that X-Men Arcade cabinet back in the day, I usually stuck to Colossus and he stuck to Wolverine. One time we played with a dude who must've been in his late 20's who got through the whole game on Nightcrawler on one quarter. I have no idea how he did it, I still can't!
Speaking of swinging through Central Park, I recall an episode of the 60s Spider-Man cartoon where he's casually swinging through the desert, with his weblines attached, presumably, to the top of the TV screen.
Yeah, the reason why X-Men Origins Wolverine was so much better than the movie is that they started making the game first. Raven had the IP for a few years before changing stuff around to use the movie for free advertising, but it wasn't made for the movie.
X men Legends 1&2 were both very fun games. I have a lot of nostalgic love for the 2 Spider-Man games on ps1 as well. The chase away from Carnage Ock is intense
We've got a whole mess of daddy longlegs in America. I went camping once but didn't fully seal the tent and woke up with the whole tent filled with them
There is actually a British spider-man in Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. He's called Spider-UK and he's an alternate universe version of Captain Britain with Spider powers. His costume does have a Union Jack with spider webs on it.
For me, the best marvel games are: 1) Marvel's Ultimate Alliance (2006 original ports) [PC, PSP AND XBOX versions] 1.5) Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 2 (PSP version only) 2) Spiderman 1 (2001) [PC version only] 3) Lego Marvel Heroes 4) Amazing Spiderman 5) X-Men Origins Wolverine 6) Spiderman Web of Shadows
Vince Dapp cause the level design was different on the other versions (slightly but it made a difference) plus songbird was amazing on the psp version but weak as hell on the other versions. Also, the newer remastered version totally changed the level design and order and boss fights. For the worse.
My favourite thing about Ultimate Marvel vrs Capcom 3 is how you can beat up all these extraordinarily powerful people... by sneezing on them as Phoenix Write
You may change your mind about Dazzler if you google her movie treatment. It takes place in a post apocalyptic New York with Cher vs. Donna Summer, KISS vs. The Village people, Robin Williams and Rodney Dangerfield for comic relief; as well as, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Beast, Wasp, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, and Dazzler all trying to save New York. It's insanity, and it looks like the good kind of insanity.
There actually is an alternate reality Spider-man/Captain Britain hybrid character that has a Union Jack on his costume. No tailcoat or tophat though. Also, it's great that you had She-Hulk versus Phoenix Wright, since they're both lawyers.
I thought we confirmed Mike was a robot a couple years ago...Oh no! Have we all been mind wiped to forget? Will they do so again now that we've figured out their secret once more? Quick, run for your lives! (attempts to flee out the door only to find it welded shut) Damn it, Jane!
Two things: One, Jane owes me a new shirt. Her StudLust made me snort tea through my nose, onto my shirt. Two, why would Jane fear robots? We all know about her secret robot army. (Luke spilled the beans.)
Captain Spider Chap needs either a pair of epaulettes or a monocle to finish the look. Not everyone has the harvest spider, but in most of the places that we do, a lot of people call them Daddy Longlegs.
The web physics in Spiderman 2 were great! But, it had its frustrating moments. Anyone who has tried to cut through Central Park or had to swing over the ocean after that theatre mission knows what i mean. Damn you Mysterio!
Kinda, the Web physics spin you around the branches a bit and it usually ends that way. But there is a mission where platforms appear over the water on the other side of the city and usually you won't have enough height to Web the next one unless done ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY and it's all Mysterio's fault. XD
Jubilee is excellent. She doesn't just make sparkles, they're energy blasts that she can use to explosively charge things. She periodically fried all the student computers in the x mansion, and once she was turned into a vampire. She's doing pretty well for someone who's given name is Jubilation.
I remember playing that xmen game when it came out. I feel old now. The xbox Punisher game was also a cool marvel game. Also honourable mention to the megadrive xmen game for the 4th-wall breaking bit.
