Get Tickets to FUN HOME www.broadway.com/shows/fun-home/ Rebecca Luker on returning to Broadway in FUN HOME, getting her start on Broadway in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and what it's like living with Tevye from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
She seems like such a nice person who happens to be ridiculously talented. I was obsessed with The Secret Garden too. Glad to see her success has continued for so long.
I can't believe she passed away more than 6 months ago and I had no idea. I met her at Whole Foods (on 97th and Columbus) a few days before Xmas in 2016 - we chatted for a bit. She was adorable. I am very sad today.
OMG! I went to school with her, but haven't seen her since school days. I just found out she is battling ALS. She's in a wheelchair now. She's already lost the use of her legs and says her arms are getting very weak. It's also affecting her voice now. God bless her! I hope and pray she finds a cure or at least medicine that will help her regain her strength and her beautiful voice. If you Google her name with ALS, you'll see where you can donate to a fundraiser for a specific drug that may help her. It's not on the market yet. God bless her, her husband, and all her loved ones. I didn't even know she was in musicals and sang so beautifully. Prayers for her recovery.
I met Rebecca several years ago and got to talk with her for quite a while...she was so gracious and tolerant of my gushing and star struck demeanor....I feel so lucky for that experience...she was wonderful!!!
Okay, so after having watched this a couple of times I just realized Rebecca said her mother was a lyric soprano and she was the one that taught Rebecca to sing. Wow Rebecca's mom must have had an Angelic voice as well if Rebecca inherited singing from her mother!.
Can I just say...her parents sound SO similar to Bruce and Helen - a dad who worked on houses (even if Bruce only did it in his free time) and a mom who worked in a school. I love it.
Yes her mother worked at a school she and I attended in Alabama. I knew her in school, but have had no contact with her since school days. I had no idea she was so successful. Now she's suffering with ALS and is in a wheelchair. Read my comment above if you'd like. There's a fundraiser for her. They're trying to get a specific drug on the market that may help her and others with ALS. Prayers for Rebecca Luker and family. God bless them all!
