It's been a long time since Stars on Ice were considered "the best ice show" in the world. Last year in US sales were so bad that they do not hold it this year at all. In Japan the SoI shows were sold out last year but only after Yuzuru Hanyu joined the cast last minute to save the sales. This year he's busy with his own show which is breaking all the known sales records. So without him SoI Japan went down from 4 cities, 3 shows in each city last year to 2 cities and only 2 days in each city this year. As for today none of their shows were sold out - and two of them are actually behind us by now. Seems like figure skating is going down a wrong path since all these world medallists together are not able to sell out even one show neither in US, nor in Japan which is considered the sport's stronghold. Still, the audience and its money is going elsewhere.
