While it is obvious you put a lot of work into this video and seem to be concerned with others liking kpop I find the entire premise a bit...off. There are plenty of reasons why people like kpop (and frankly they don't need to have all that many because people can like what they like), but I find the reasons you give in this video to be a bit of a reach. 1. The lyrics of kpop are no more meaningful than the lyrics in any other popular song in any other language. To like kpop because of its 'meaningful lyrics' is to suggest that only music produced in Korea has lyrics with messages that resonate. I don't have to guess, I KNOW, that there are meaningful lyrics in the music of ALL languages. I'm just not sure how many get heard without pretty boys and girls in fashionable outfits and highly photoshopped M/Vs to go along with them. 2. Kpop isn't a musical genre. Wisely you make this point in your video. Much of what people call k-pop is often k-edm, k-rap, k-rock etc... What is often strange to the people many k-pop fans are trying to convert is 'Why would I listen to rock in a language I don't speak or understand when I could listen to it in my native tongue?' Additionally, there are those that think 'Why would I listen to artists mimic style and/or performance style from MY country when I could just listen to artistic originators in my native tongue?'. This isn't meant to be shade, but the fact of the matter is aside from trot music much of the popular music in Korea is American or European music performed in another language. This doesn't take away from the skill or talent of kpop stars and isn't meant to be shade, but rather it could very well be why people fail to see the point in gravitating to kpop. People may ask themselves; "Why do I have to listen to someone approximate XYZ in a language I don't even understand when I could just listen to XYZ?" 3. People often state "I like Kpop because it isn't all about sex and materialistic things. It is more pure and innocent and wholesome." While it is true that much of what you hear performed by k-pop artists is far more 'wholesome' than what you hear in American, European, & Latin popular music that isn't a consequence of Korean preferences OR the preferences of artists. It is a direct consequence of what is allowable by Korean standards of decency. It is about what they will allow on the radio and on their television shows. If you don't believe this to be true google who your favorite kpop artists' favorite musical artists are. Few of them will list other kpop musicians (rather independent and underground Korean artists and a laundry list of non-korean artists). My point here is this; a disproportionate amount of k-pop artists are not singing the type of music they like or even the type of music they themselves listen to. 4. Great music doesn't require an army of 'salespeople' trying to convince others to listen to or like their particular brand of favorite music. Do you think Americans had to reach out to fans around the world and say "C'mon, just give this guy Micheal Jackson a listen...you'll like it if you just give it a chance!!" Nope. That didn't happen. You are right when you say that good music transcends the language barrier, culture barriers, racial barriers and...even the barriers of generations. 5. If your friends don't like/listen to kpop maybe stop imagining it is because they haven't found a reason why they should...and accept they have a dozen reasons why they don't.
kpoptrash I tried to add Polish subtitles (to show that video to my friend). Link work but I think to add them you need to agree (I apologize if I wrote something incorrectly or incomprehensibly in that comment)
kpoptrash I will try to add them again in a few hours. When I try I Will let you know 🙂 edit: I tried to add them on another device and I think it’s gonna work, but subtitles need to be reviewed before they’re published 🙂
Lol 😂 I have a friend that when me and my other friends would discuss kpop in front of her, she would be like “What’s so good about that *STUPID* kpop BTS thingy you 3 are talking about? UGH” That’s the reason I sent this to her
i belong to 1% though i listen and love BTS,. obviously, my profile pic speaks for itself..i tried listening to other groups, but na..really im not for kpop, only BangtanPop😉✌️..
@@KendyJK I think this changes at with time😂 when I first found kpop I liked only EXO and looked for artists that sound like them only, so I liked no one else. But soon found some very talanted people and well...the multifamdom life began😂
Actually, this song is very meaningful. Really. No dumb words like "did you see my bag?" or "chicken soup" (no offense, for me ist's just songs with no inspiration or good meanings. My opinion)
@@Arsidala well with both of those songs they did have meaning. Mic Drop (the 'did you see my bag' song) was a song for people who hate on them and the significance of that line was about how many trophies they have. Chicken *noodle* soup is a cover of a song which was about growing up in LA in a certain neighborhood. J-hope and Becky. G covered this adding both Spanish and Korean twists to it. Not only is it about being proud about where you come from, its an amazing mix/blend of different nationalities coming together and creating art.
The lyrics you watched were so meaningful why you still write the lyrics for the rhythm of the song here and you think it's ridiculous, those lyrics were written for the rhythm of the song
"We Dont Understand What They Are Saying. To be honest, i dont know what is such a big deal, especially when the two most viewed videos EVER are Despacito and Gangnam Style". Sentence of the year.
Yeah the whole “You don’t even know what they are saying” complaint is so old by now. I hear it so much to the point where it’s tiring to hear, we have a fan base that are willing to put SUBTITLES to understand what they are saying. Like we will like whoever we like, love comes from the heart not from our mouth :1
Hakuna Matata HONESTLY! Like saying that complaint doesn’t even make sense now since we have many ways we can find out what they’re saying. Plus, Kpop has amazing dance choreography so that’s a bonus too!
Yikes and they watch the whole thing and copy and paste it on every group chat that contains kpop haters like in my case my class group chat sksksk (though literally 90% of it is made up of my kpoper friends so lol)
I am a US grandma who knows no one who loves k-pop. Still, i like to keep up! You did a fantastic compilation, and your comments are charming. I do have a greater appreciation, tho not my style :). Thank you. Well done.
kpop has meningful lyrics. Lay: iM ChinA sHeeP BLACKPINK: ice cream chillin chillin NCT: hey you' listen up no matter what they say no matter what they do we go resonate resonate TWICE (momo): pINk lAmbORgiNi STRAY KIDS: dududududu Edit: Seventeen: acHu nIcE and like 2920 more :D
**when the meaningful lyrics come** me: oh yeah we gotta boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom ye we gotta screaming go go go we be screaming go go go
**kpop have meaningful lyrics** Nct: I be walking with the cheese and that's the queso (queso, queso) SHINee: Ring ding dong, ring ding dong Exo: what can I say? horlololololololo Twice: Sana is gay super junior: close your lips, shut your tongue Blackpink: hit you with that ddu-ddu ddu-ddu SUPER JUNIOR again: sorry sorry sorry nickle nickle nickle magic nickle nickle nickle banjo banjo banjo baby Stray kids: YAYAYAYYAYAYYA 3racha: double knot on my yeezys Bts: abcdefgh hakuna matata
its honestly their loss if they cant find the emotional meaning behind "ring ding dong ring ding dong ring diggi ding diggi ding ding ding ring ding dong"
"Abcdefg Hakuna matata" "Stop playing hard to get before I kick you in the butt" "Please call me, I'll buy you food" "domain dopeman.com" "Your face is fresh like a salad” “Adios middle school” “She’s my religion so I call her she-sus” BTS lyrics are truly the most meaningful
@@caratnctzen7488 we obviously do, but we do popularise misheard lyrics. Remember d.o. once said, " she jacked their soul, nae and the soul, she hold the love, want a boner"
@@junna2577 can I ask why..?? Becoz all kpop lovers love BTS..they don't see other bands but say abt popular bands🥱🤦🏻♀️...i also want to explain ppl that kpop is not all about BTS answer me plz🥺🤕
@@independentscore9817 you are strange man Let me make it short ,I love Exo and NCT therefore I'm an ExoL and Czennie ...I don't Stan BTS therefore I am not a army .. that's it ..I guess no one can explain it to you this simple ... hope you understood kid ..
i’m watching this as a k pop stan and i started crying because you literally encompassed every single thing i want to say, but sadly it just falls on deaf ears and no-one listens to me.
When you said their rapping skill were fire, I was like "please include Mark and Taeyong" and a second you put literally the best representation of their skills 😂👏💚 Thank u for that
I think The Last by August D is also a great example for the meaning of the lyrics (he is also rapping better than god but-) because he's literally talking about his social anxiety and depression (which can be a no no in the K-pop industry) Go check out that song if you haven't yet it's aMAZING
@@claraho1663 I, as someone who doesn't speak Korean, recognised that way to fast and the proceeded to butcher the language by attempting to rap it with absolutely no shame.
@@sasykins3359 It might not stay that way for long, considering China's rising importance in the world economy more and more products are coming in both english and simplified Chinese, in 20 more years that might be where it ends up
it dosent work like that, say for example i showed you a german rap song because you said you liked rap once (hypothetically) and you tell me "HMMMM no i like korean music better" what am i gonna do say "okay fair enough" or get mad at you and say how nobody understands german music and how its just like rap you listen to in korean and how the lyrics are just as deep as korean music and how basically its the same thing but in german. do you understand why some people dislike Kpop now? ALSOOO nobody hates kpop everyone just hates people like you whoo try to force down our throats because you think a certain korean man is hot GET OVER YOURSELVESSSS]
@@dimitriskagos3761 I never said anything like that. I'm not trying to shove anything down anyone's throats. despite what you may say, there are genuinely people who hate kpop just because it's foreign, which is what I'm confused by. I don't care if you hate the groups that I like or if you don't like the same music I do. I just don't like it when people generalize all korean music because of its language. calm down.
@@slime-time nooooo everyone likes spanish or french music its fucken beautiful and people would probably feel the same about kpop if it wasnt for the fans with their stans and what not
“the artists don’t sing about sex (or drugs)” me: *laughs in Expensive girl by Rap monster* p.s. i know his name is Rm now but there is no way in hell RM would post a song like that 💀💀 only rap monster would do something like that
Me- "I listen to only to deep and meaningful songs" Also me- Bum ratatata ratatata(2NE1- I am the best) Whatta bum bum whatta bum bum( Blackpink- Forever young) (But I lowkey hear whatta bum bum as whatsup Bambam)
Taeyong appears three times here, baby don't stop, chain and t7s. All of these are legendary songs and im so proud how far Taeyong has came. His rap, dance, charisma is lit and not to forget that he is an amazing performer. Wishing him a speedy recovery and all good years ahead.
I'm still new to K-pop, but after this video, I liked it more And really, I am very happy to follow this art It is real, I wish the culture of freedom to choose the art that you want to follow without bullying to spread Thanks for this great video and thanks for the multilingual translation availability I wish you happiness and health always
I'll keep this short, I just wanted to say that this was the first video that introduced me to Stray Kids earlier this year, and it is, to this day, the best thing that has ever happened to me. I came across this video again and felt very thankful so I wanted to comment this to let you know. Thank you so much for helping start my amazing journey ❤
