Aware this is a LONG video but it’s impossible to make a quick one with the collection at this point 😂 Time stamps are in the description for anyone who wants to just skim through and see certain leagues 🤝
Dortmund's number 8 from '86 to '98 (with a few number changes in between) was Michael Zorc. Nicknamed "Susi" in his early days because of his long hair, he spent his entire career with Borussia Dortmund, appearing in 572 competitive matches in 17 seasons and scoring 159 goals.
I was having palpitations every time you stretched the collar when you took the shirts off the hanger/put them on. Maybe that's how the Dutch 88 shirt ended up the way it did?!? 😉😂
The blue Holland 88 is their 3rd shirt Ellis from 88. In my shirt book it says "This Beautiful sky blue version of the much revered 1988 adidas design seems to have been another Dutch kit destined never to have been worn. In all likelihood this was a third strip design to accompany the home and away outfits first launched in early 1987".
I look at my football programme collection (I collect programmes from the old East Germany) and I think of what I spent on the most expensive one of those then see some of the shirts and wince 😆 Top video though. I think the best bit about it is just how clear it is that you're knowledgeable and passionate about it. Then the bloke walks by and chucks you a posh shirt 😆
I also bought that magnificent Hertha special shirt 😍 I was in Berlin, in the Hertha store, and they had the last of that special shirts, in my size, so I decided to buy it for around 30€
Can you please detail how you remove names and numbers from the back of shirts? Also if you can, can you please how to go into restoration of decals? I just got a LA Galaxy Beckham shirt and the first time I wore it the Herbalife logo malted on the e and the sponsor logo.
the blue Dutch national team shirt is a so-called ghost shirt. If the Netherlands hadn't been allowed to play in orange at the European Championship, they would have played in this shirt. The shirt was also used in qualifying
Nice video! I found an interesting choice of song when you played Joy Division, especially when you showing man city's shrt, since its singer was a Man City fan I believe
THAT LYON SHIRT IS BLOODY GORGEOUS😍😍I genuinely couldn’t keep my eyes off it for some reason, I’ve always disliked shirts with gold on them but that one…. WOOO😅
I’m in the us and was wondering where the best place would be to get some nice jerseys new / used / old, and mystery boxes for a good price. I’d like to start collecting
The atletico MG special kit for last year or might be the year before, probably one of the smartest shirts I have seen, can’t find it anywhere definitely worth adding to your collection and if u get it please let me know where from😂, great video, great collection, keep it up !
It really breaks my heart that you can't feel you can wear the shirt of the club I grew up with and love so much. I think besides some internet nutters, I'd never be worried about someone assuming something based on me wearing a Rangers top.
Hey Ellis. A quick question (and I'm so sorry if that will put doubt in your head). I'm Brazilian and I did see Zico play (he was my idol when I was a kid) but I do not recall, nor didn't I find any records of him ever wearing number 17 for the Seleção. That shirt if from the 1982 World Cup and it number 17 on that occasion was Branco a great left full back.
Obviously football shirts are mega popular now but is there much (any) demand for football shorts? I've seen a few pairs in charity shops recently but not bothered picking them up as didn't know if they would sell or not?
Well...is the blue Holland 88 not just the away kit of that year. Orange Home Blue Away. The aways of that template are just crazy rare. Even the german one
Great vid, as always! Missing some Benfica shirts tho 👀 Can someone explain what Ellis was talking about when he showed the Rangers sweatshirts? The reference to people seeing it as a political stance and stuff?
The Old Firm rivalry is, and has been, fueled by intense religious, political, and class biases. I won’t point fingers, but one leans Catholic and the other Protestant. One leans for Scottish independence and the other for staying in the Union. And because of the first two reasons, one has traditionally been stuck in the lower working class while the other has had more opportunities to rise to the upper working class and higher. Being seen wearing the shirt of one club or the other tends to paint the wearer as supporting EVERYTHING that has been associated with that club throughout history. Neutrality isn’t remotely a possibility in the eye of the beholder. This type of deep seated rivalry isn’t seen only amongst the Old Firm clubs. Sadly, it can be found in many places around the world. But few of even those are as deep and visceral as the rivalry between Rangers and Celtic.
@@JKTritt First of all, thanks for that detailed answer, I really appreciate it! I had no idea that this was a thing. I mean, I know that the rivalry exists and stuff, but I thought that it was due to the fact that they're the biggests clubs in Scotland and they are eachother's biggest title rival. Never thought that the rivalry could be linked to religion and politics. I visited the Celtic Stadium a few years ago and there was no mention to this, so I guess it's more of a supporters fight than a corporate fight? And again, thank you!
@@DanielLeite26 You’re right, it’s all between the supporters. I should have been more clear on that. AFAIK, amongst the owners it’s all just a business rivalry like any other.
On a side note - My father’s mother was born in Scotland. I don’t know who the family traditionally supported (I wasn’t raised by that side of my family tree). She was born south west of Glasgow. So, when looking for a Scottish club to keep an eye on I decided that I didn’t want to be involved in the Old Firm debate in any way, shape, or form. So I chose Kilmarnock, as the closest large club near the town where she was raised. Sadly, they were relegated from the SPFL last season. 😞 Such is life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
