HectorinoX2 No, trust me it's bullshit. And they're not springs, they're drivers. When you tap it (like anybody would do that in there spare time), you might hear "springs". When you shake your head you don't hear such things as he'd stated in the video. I can promise you this is a biased review. I've handled both headphones before.
how can you say ``durable``. i bought them and immediately the bass was cutting out. the bass adjuster reminds me of an n64 old joystick; alot of slack.
To anyone about to make a decision: Sony is coming out with a new version of the XB950BT with noise cancellation and other stuff. They showed them at CES.
yea they are suppose to release in april 😭 and I need something now. My headphones just broke and all I have are standard apple earbuds, not sure if to get the xb950bt or find something cheap and wait for the 950N1's.
Zim Gri, how do you know it's gonna be on April the release? Other information? (i wanna buy them so much cuz of the foldable and ANC soooo any information will be appreciate if you have some :D )
Its 2019 and still skullcandy crusher is leading in the bass headphone segment...I bought it today taking demo of both mdr xb 950b1 and crusher...sony was good with the bass effect but it was the crusher which brought club type effects to my ears making it shake...I got skullcandy crusher without a doubt...
Lol I just bought this version as well due to everyone talking about the new ones. These ones are way cheaper and still offer the crazy bass. Got them on sale for real cheap so no brainer. The bass is insane. They don't sound like the best headphones ever, but nothing can touch the bass. They sound the best on old 90s rap songs. That was the area where the songs were designed for this type of car stereo bass.
@@Teamshmo I bought a second pair becuase my first broke a bit too easy, yes the bass is insane but it is not really a bass. there are shaking parts in te headphones that make that distored loud bass. super awesome for gaming as explosions and gunshots feel real.
Tamás Bene a guy apparently left with mid volume and mid bass for 40 hours to play constantly and it still had 60% battery left..... That's fucking amazing
I do when I hit play and pause on my Sony Wh1000xm3 which are better than the Skullcandy Crushers x10. And hits the bass rumble just like the skullcandy crushers but without distortion.
@Brendin yes they are, testing them at best buy isnt going to give you that experience, but if you buy them yourself instead of going to best buy youd know that the app unlocks the missing 60% of features that's not shown at best buy. You have to turn the hi res mode off. No LDAC then do priority in connection instead of apund quality, then u go to equalizer in the app turn clear bass to +10, then turn 400 bass db to +10, then u have yourself some crushers for free and better bass quality at that too. And if you want even more bass go at it to club mode in surround VPT. And it will clear any tickle or itch you have in your ear. Maybe even give you a tickle if you dont have one.
Seer King K but that's not what he comparing it to and the crushers i got for 100 canadian so thats like a $300 price difference also im like 99% sure that you dont know that the crushers have haptic base and its not the same kind of base as the sony M3s (at least i think cause i dont have $300-400 headphones and this is mostly based on revews of the m3s ive seen and they didn't mention any haptic base)
Uravgconsumer I love your videos man but I'm gonna say you're biased on this one. The 950bts are super fragile, something skullcandy has never been. I sleep in my original crushers every night and have been for the past 3 years or so that I've had them, they've been on many camping trips and vacations and have definitely been my most expendable headphones I've ever had. not something I can say for my 2 broken pair of monster DNA on ears. which only lasted me about a year each. And also the crusher wireless were 140 at best buy over the holiday season, when i bought them. Honestly you were too critical of the skullcandy headphones, you made it seem like they didn't have as much functionality as the Sony's when you explained the on board controls and also I have a pair of the crusher wireless and have no clue what you mean by the "weirdness" of the bass. I know the springy part, but only when you tap on them. not when you move your head. that's also not springs. that is the individual bass driver in the headphones. my friend took his pair apart. and while you hinted at it, you did not come out and actually say that the bass is stronger on the crusher wireless. but you shouldve cause it is. You also made it seem like the crusher wireless weren't comfortable which is a blatant lie. yes maybe the 950bts are more comfortable, but that doesn't mean the skullcandys aren't because they really are very comfortable. You were not honesty when you said the skullcandys were all plastic because the adjustment slides are some pretty damn thick pieces of metal, something you acknowledged on the Sony's and not the skullcandys. The headband is also metal, just covered in that rubber and leather. the whole band part is metal, only housed in plastic and leather. Plus I think you should've acknowledged the fact that skullcandy has never made anything close to this premium before, they've always been cheaper build and better sound for your price rather than quality materials and good sound for the premium price tag. so this was a huge step up for them. also I'm pretty sure the Sony's were more than 200 when they first came out because I know they have been out for a long while now. hopefully you can take these points into perspective.
Kennith Hoover I agree; I don't have either but I've handled both and this is a very biased review. You'll notice that a lot of these reviews on this site are biased towards Sony as though these reviewers are either sponsored or afraid they'd get blacklisted. It's not dishonesty in the sense that they blatantly lie, but, as you said, it's dishonesty in the sense that they downplay the other products and not focus on their positives. The metal band (said it was all plastic), the comfort (making Sony look like the QC35 by comparison), the "springs" (absolutely distasteful/ignorant for calling it that), etc are not acceptable from a supposedly established tech reviewer. Disclaimer is that I personally prefer the Sonys (my taste), but a lot of injustice was done towards the Skullcandy C.

Kennith Hoover I have the original crushers and am buying the n1s. I personally think they're not comfortable. Haven't tried the wireless one. But honestly the top bit got ripped apart and it was like a cheap sponge and probably so are the earcups. Now I'm no expert in padding and comfortable materials but whatever they're cheaper than both. The bass is addicting. Wondering if I'll miss it after using the n1s. But idk if it's the vibration or the headphones but it hurts around my ear without them for quite a long time and always when using them. It's a great experience but wanna leave them at that and hopefully find a better one.
I can vouch for the fragility of the x950bts. Dropped em and they fell on the right ear cup, and they broke. However, the wire was intact, so I duct taped it back on. I have to re-duct tape them once per month.
If you're choosing between the XB950BT or Crusher Wireless based off of bass boost functionality, that depends on how you like your bass. The 950BTs use a digital amplifier to artificially boost bass. It's fun for movies but excessive for music most of the time as you can't adjust them. The Crusher Wireless make use of the usual 40mm full range drivers AND 38mm drivers solely meant for sub levels of bass. The more you move the slide up, the more the headphone diverts lower frequency sound to the smaller bass drivers, creating that ticklish yet satisfying bass that you'll definitely feel. It reaches levels of bass that the 950BTs wish it could recreate while not bleeding too much into the midrange as again, bass frequencies are diverted to the bass drivers while the rest of he sound goes through the normal drivers.
I got my songs on Black Friday for 88 bucks. 950bts are way better. Comfort wise and just the quality. Less likely to break since it's not all plastic like the skull candys. And I've tried on the skull candys and I do hear the spring thingy inside of the headphones. It's real annoying
yup imma buy a pair of these. Using your associative link as well, you should be getting a nice payout since i'm getting a bunch of other expensive stuff as well. Enjoy!!
i'll be using it to gym. I cant stand 24/7 mainstream crap anymore lol. there's 37 other items on my amazon list, whey, creatine, pre-workout, home theater, car audio install accessories, work related items.
UrAvgCostumer i totally disagree with you, I had the Sony's first that i bought because of your review of them and they felt cheap fragile and the sound was soooo weak to me. Bass is ok but headphones are just not even close to being loud enough and yes i put volume at max on both my phone and headphones.. I returned them the next day to Amazon and kept my Beats Studio Wireless. Saw some reviews about the crushers and got them at Best Buy for 149 on sale at the time and wow !! Big difference from my experience with the sonys , fell in love and almost cried the first time i listened to them. They feel way better and a lot less fragile on my hands , battery last much longer and OMG that bass !!!! Amazing !!! They are so much fun to listen to !! I even sold my beloved Beats and stayed with this. Thats how much i love them...
Trust me when i say the Crushers are the shit !! They are amazing !! Maybe not for an audiophiles but then again this nor the Crushers are audiophile headphones. Im a DJ and i know good audio . My crushers are not for DJing but for everyday music listening and they are so much fun. For DJ i use my Audio Technica Ath-M50 wich everyone knows about ..
Lol that sonys were too quiet at max volume? You might have hearing problems. Also beats studio are ok I suppose but no worth the money you have to spend on them. You could get a nice pair of bose or sennheisers instead. Crushers are pretty good though
Great video. I must say I love the look of the new Green version of the Sony headphones and would love to get them. I had Skullcandy gaming headphones and they were awesome, really clear and bought more Skullcandy based on the sound. I haven't tried the crushers yet though. I think it really depends on what kind of music you listen to.
Hound Life Vlogs try them both before you buy. At least you are open to trying different things. Some people are just set on one and won't even try another product.
Hound Life Vlogs looooool. The crushers is something you need to try. It's amazing at the beginning then it's kinda too much for a time then you get used to it then it gets worse but you can't listen without it and then it hurts around your ears. At least the original ones
I put on a pair of those skullcandy ones at Best Buy. The demo said that you can dial the haptics all the way up. I did cause yolo. And then it mentioned that the skull crushers were built to battle your bones. Then the bass dropped. It gave me the chills. The cans of the headphone were vibrating violently. I’m saving my money for a pair.
I own both headset's. The XBT- 950s have punchy bass. Crushers have more physical bass and it's less punchy and aren't quite as comfortable. however the 950s are a piece of glass and barely lasted a year with me. The swivel will break in a heart beat if it's dropped and now your out 100$. Don't buy the 950s unless your okay with wearing a piece of glass.
can confirm, they feel very fragile. granted, i haven't actually broken mine yet. i throw them in my backpack all the time and wear them constantly. ideally, you just have to be more careful.
Yes true. The hinges on my 950bt broke after maybe a years use. They sound good, battery lasts long and are very comfortable but they feel very large and awkward. I tested out the skullcrushers at the airport and the bass almost took me to the moon and were quite light. I think I will purchase the skullcrushers wireless just because the bass is insane for the type of music I listen to.
Kinda weird you have broken your 950s already. Bought mine like 3 years ago and I am still using it until now. Still looks and sounds new. I heard about the breaking where the swivels are, but I never had a problem with it, so I don't know. May depend on how one takes care of what they invest in.
4:34 Actually, Skull Crushers has the "Muffed" sound in place so that you don't ruin your ear drums, It provides a clean feeling of Noise Cancellation along side the feel the bass sends off during low Hz. I mean the other headset is fine with clarity maybe better by a little bit, but that is if you want later on Tinnitus.
The new and old crushers dont have a spring, i've taken them apart before. It's the micro subwoofers inside that have a coil design. and yes its actually bass not crappy springs.
i use Blue headphones...the Mo Fis and im about to buy the Sadies. BUT...a friend of mine let me test his Skullcandy Crushers.....and i cant stop thinking about them....the Blues will be like my wife.....the Crushers will be the nasty mistress haha
These headphones are actually marketed towards people who are looking for extra bass. If you want a balanced audio profile maybe look at a set of audiotechnicas or Senheisers?
I Want The Skullcandy Crusher Wireless. They Look Like A Great Pair, I Already Have The Skullcandy Crusher Headphones in Royal Blue. (The Wired Version)
Dharin Costic People say Skullcandy is a joke which I used to agree with. But whoever works at Skullcandy needs a raise cause these are way better than anything they've ever made. I think UAC was a little biased in this comparison (which is ok cause it's his opinoin) but I've listened to both and I give the edge to the crushers.
I have gotten the Sony's before watching this video, they are probably the best headphones I've ever gotten. One thing I like is the Bluetooth range, I can walk anywhere in my house with my phone in my room and have no connectivity issues. Also, there is an app you can get where you can adjust the bass Level, type of environment you want for the sound, and you can control the noise cancellation button from the app. Also, the bass boost does work with out it having to be on. I have never put a better pair of headphones on my head.
I went to BestBuy last night to test them and the demo was broken so I didn't get to hear them. Best Buy said they will replace the demo sometime this week..
The SkullCandy Crushers are mind blowing they're super comfortable and really nice. After breaking them in with my spotify playlist with the Bass Slider set right by the 30% they sound amazing. I wear the Crushers for the whole day and never had any discomfort unless I was wearing my earring studs they press against the headphones. So without earrings on they're super comfortable
one reason I didn't go with BT is because the thousands of reviews on best buy and Amazon saying they're easily broken right after the 30 day period and Sony doesn't honor the warranty. anybody can confirm or deny?
I tried both. Skullcandy crusher is better for hard hitting, ear rattling bass. Also Skullcandy look better and are more portable. It all depends on what music you listen to.
every headset is tight and can hurt your head at first if you use them long periods, but when you use them for a while they get loosen and fits your head good
The Crusher wireless are way better in terms of bass, bought some myself and I use them over my V-moda crossfade 2's. For most people, try them at Bestbuy or Target, youd be amazed of how great the bass in the Crushers. Crushers sound like a car with 2-12's while the Sonys sound like good speakers with decent bass and NO wubwoofer.
I've had two pairs of XB950's over the past 2-3 years and recently got the JVC SZ2000's. If you're looking for bass and have some money to spend get the 2000's. The XB950 is the king of bass, and the SZ2000 is the god of bass. Only downside is the JVCs need so much power you have to buy an amp for them to reach their full potential. For portable use go for the sonys, if you just like bassin out at your house on your computer then go for the SZ2000's for sure. Search them up on youtube and your mind will be blown. Requirements for the skull pounding : SZ2000's , Amplifier, Knowing how to EQ
Ahhh! Decisions.. decisions.. I am looking to get my first pair of headphones as I've always owned earbuds and I don't want to spend a lot. I hear the Skullcandy has better, all-around, sound whereas the Sonies have more comfort and I think they look cooler
he lied about sound clarity !! skullcandy crusher wireless have more clarity than sony xb950bt, i have bought both of them !! sony sound is muddy and no clarity but the bass is real and good, but skullcandy has good highs and mids than sony and bass is best!! i know its artificial on skullcandy but its worth it,u should own both of em to experience different kind of bass,in some songs i like sony's but in most songs i like skullcandy
The biggest thing I noticed is that out of the box the crushers ear cups are kinda stiff, but after a month or two of using them they start to soften and they get alot more comfortable
seemed a bit biased hahhaha but i mean its all personal preference.i have the crushers and i dont feel that they are too tight on my head but yeah i get that for some people's head shape the sony's are going to be better
What about the xb650bt? Are they just as good but without the bass boost? Im willing to give up bass boosts for a slimmer profile if the sound signature is pretty much the same
UrAvgConsumer Actually, if you look at Amazon questions and answers, they say that the 650bt bass boost is aways on. But not sure how will it sound comparing to the 950bt because their drivers are considered as a bit weaker then the 950's.
Tim the xb650bt are on ear instead of over ear. This means instead of cups surrounding your ear, they sit on top. Personally, I think on ear hurts a bit more and leaks a lot more sound. Over ear (950) is better.
I own crushers, for about 3 months I have been using them 9 - 5 with my computer most days of the week. Used to use in - ears, but after the usual 9 - 5 of use the insides of my ears would get sore after a few days. If you use in - ears or (god forbid) airpods, GET SOME HEADPHONES
Hey UrAvgConsumer I'm a long time subscriber, but first-time poster and I have a quick question: in your headphone reviews, I've never seen you review any Bluedio model headphones. Have you tried the Bluedio R+ or Bluedio R+ Legends, and if so, what are your thoughts on them?
***** Thanks for the quick response. I have a pair of the R+ Legends and they're pretty cool. They have really nice bass, an adjustable EQ, and an SD card slot.
UrAvgConsumer I was thinking about picking up the Sony until i saw that there is a new model of those coming soon,so would you suggest buying the new ones or the ones that are already in stores?
I hate the 950bt, I god some and was wearing when the plastic piece holding the left headphone exploded into like 12 different pieces. the build quality is horrid.
-Derryl- So it happens, then I taped it back together with duct tape (a terrible fix) and then the right hook broke like 6 days later :-/. It's cool that yours are still working tho :-).
Alot of issues you pointed out have been fixed in the 2018 and 19 revisions they also got dual mics and better pads as well as a nice fabric accent they also got a major price drop 120 to 75$
Lucas Doering yeah i know and therefore it may not be a very good comparison but the video isn't sponsored. If so he has to tell the viewer that it is sponsored.
Andreas well, probably not $ sponsored, but see, he's reviewing a lot of Sonny stuff lately, pretty much only good reviews and some of them even on first-hand... Must be receiving a kind of patronage (which is normal, I think...)
Skullcandy are so much more durable drop them 100 still working they are just so dum working. Sonys use bad plactic small parts higher price bla bla bla.... so just get the skullcandy I had sonys befoure they broke. BTW wasent the first time something sony broke.
I owned the Skullcandy Crusher Wireless for over a year, and often wore them for up to 18 hours straight without ANY discomfort, however, I have never tried the Sony's so i can't say whether they are more comfortable or not
Alright folks, let me put this debate to an end here. I have skullcandy crusher and sony xb950n1. I ll be honest on this one as ive been reading reviews for months until i have tried both myself and i know how ya’ll feel cuz i have been there. In conclusion skullcandy wins for me. Difference between both is that in my crusher i can hear more details in my songs and the bass is so much stronger than the sonys even at 40% while sonys at 100%. I just found the sound quality on my crusher much clearer in everything but i wouldnt recommend you go over 40% bass otherwise it will overshadow everything else and will sound disgusting when on 100% but trust me u wouldnt need it cause 40% is like sonys being at 200%. Better built quality. However the sonys are louder but the crusher is still loud. When it comes to comfort i believe it depends on the shape/size of ur head. Crusher was more comfortable for me at first they were tight for the first couple of days but they adjusted to the shape of my head. I had the sonys for 10 days to give them the chance to prove me wrong but man i ended up returning them. I am an audiophile. I have had over 50 headphones over the past few years. And for the first time ever i stick with a headphone for a whole year and counting. Get them and trust me you wont regret it ! They are cheap with is even crazier. Thank me later
V-Moda headphones should not be in this battle: since we're comparing new headphones together, that would mean you'd have to compare the XB950BT and Crusher Wireless with the Crossfade Wireless 2, a $300+ monster of a Bluetooth headphone that bears deeper sub levels of bass without needing a bass boost function while still sounding very clear AND having the same "cliqfold" collapsible design of the M-100s that literally makes it just a bit bigger than your hand. The Crossfade Wireless 2 would RAPE them if a comparison was to be made in all fields except bass boost function which it doesn't have and affordability.
UrAvgConsumer I did that and I'm barely getting notifications for the video, and I don't know if youtube is broken or what but it's been happening to me for a lot of my channel subscriptions...
I tried them both out in my local target. For the bass and overall sound I'm giving the Skullcandy Crushers the win here. The looks are purely your opinion and your tastes only, but I like how it looks more than the sony's.
SKULLCANDY Crusher Wireless has a big bass membrane .. its not artificial .. its just HUGE so you can hear it move sometimes like a HUGE BASS .. totally normal
Biased to the max. How tf do you like the sony spin muffs better than the completly foldable crushers??? And crushes your skull?? LMAO he is sensitive.
I find that if you max out the skullcandy it don't sound good, but if you slide it to a little bit less than half way, the sound is amazing and you get bass you can hear as well as feel too. But all the up, then yeah it muffles, and all the way down to off it sounds too quiet. I reccomend it half way and it sounds incredible !!!
Skull Candy wins for me. I own a d use 4 times a week at my gym. Bultime tanks. Beats don't even compare. Great bass and highs. Comfy a d looks good. All why you need.
I don't hear any springs moving around in my crushers when i move my head left to right.I do hear a spring sound when I tap them. But the average consumer doesn't go around tapping their headphones for no reason. The bass from the crushers sounds AWESOME. And the fact that the bass is adjustable makes the crushers untouchable imo .
I have both, the Crusher sounds better, the trebles and mids sounds more crispier. The bass lever is also more customizable for your liking for every type of songs. But the Sony feels more comfortable if you have a big head. The mids sounds kinda muffled though.
The Skullcandy is a wonderful headphones. Movies; games and music are so much fun to listen to. I keep the bass slider at 30% and at that level the bass beautifully complements the overall sound quality.
🎧 BTW... the new crushers adjusted the sound so that the mids and highs are more present and clear than they use to be. They have a built in tile so you can track your headphones. And they personalize your hearing with a series of sound tests. I absolutely love mine and I can't believe I am just now listening to them. I had to re-listen to all of my favorite song the first week I got them. The bass in some songs are so heavy that it actually makes my ears and nose itch. 💀
I got my Sonys about a year ago on your recommendation and they are my daily drivers. I can listen to music at work and I literally wears these for 6+ hours a day. Most comfortable headphones I've ever owned. Only issue I've ever had is after a few hours you can get some sweaty ear going.
I am in a pickle. I have seen so much good on the crushers, but a lot of people are talking about it snapping and the cheap plastic. I don't know what to do.
@@kota69420 Ok. If you're more contempt on buying the skullcrushers then just buy them. You won't have to worry about snapping and cheap plastic as long as you don't abuse them. If you want them and you can buy em, GET THEM!!! 😀
I'm wearing the skull crushers right now. I don't hear any jiggling of springs or any of the sorts on the inside. I find that strange. One thing that used to happen though was after I freshly paired my headphones, I'd hear an intensely faint beeping until it stops at random. That's one thing I didn't like about the skull crushers. The bass? I don't understand what you mean by artificial. I can agree that the sony sound better
I used to own a pair of Crushers. It really rattles your head, but the bass vibrations feel... separate from the music. It's hard to describe it. It's as if someone was shaking your head, but the actual song itself didn't really have any extra bass. The Sony's bass really flows with the music. I would choose it over the Crushers any day.
I have the crusher wireless, and even though the comments made in the video are fair, I disagree with UrAvgConsumer's thoughts on the springy sounds. I agree that they are there, but only if you are to really smack the headphones when your not listening to music- when i move my head around i hear nothing. Ive tried the 950's and i do agree they are incredible, but honestly if you want bass, go for the crushers. Also the 950bt's are soon to be irrelevant as the noise cancelling 950bt's are out.
