This is amazing, I could not stop watching. Every single step was done incorrectly. But the installer was so precise and seemed to know what he was doing, well kind of. Here is my theory everyone. This is NOT a typical water in water out shower pan build. Notice that the drain weep holes were completely covered and that the concrete was not the usual drypack. My guess, or at least what I hope he was doing here, is that it is just the frame. There will be multiple layers of liquid membrane over it. Functionally, it should act like a tileable prebuilt shower pan. Water is not intended to go past the concrete at any point. The misleading part is that he added the PVC pan liner for some crazy reason. IF the water does go down at all past the liquid membrane, which I hope will be added, you might as well go beneath the pan to take the shower. Best of luck to the poor soul that owns this home.

this is Hack Artistry. This is normal construction and I ripped one out like this and the sill rotted and floor needed repaired. the house was 35 years old. It was floated cement walls with wire mesh though. I bet it will last 30 years. I think that's the same guy who did it.

Unorthodox method, mixing accepted techniques with some questionable ones, but neat and well executed.

The liner goes out, over the curb and gets tiled over. And way too many cuts and glue and way too many penetrations in his liner. This guy is a hack. This is a good video on how NOT to install a liner. And rounded edge on a steel knife? How about a wooden trowel? And his mud is WAAY too wet.

You need to wrap the complete curb all the way to the outside floor. You will end up with moisture penetration in to curb and because you didn't use treated lumber you will have expansion and a failed tile job.

100 % leaking shower . It will not leat right away, it will be a slow leaking problem.when you find out it will have a lot of mold and rooted wood. He didn't use pressure threaded wood for. Curb. Work is neat but screws to the liner and cutting it will fail. We repairs a lot of those mistakes from contractors.

Good luck my friend little advise if you knew what you were doing you would never have to slice your pan around your curb and would never put a screw hole on the inside of your shower in the pan you have defeated the whole purpose of a pan liner as soon as you cut or put a screw hole I it so i know I'm right stop doing work that you don't know how to do

The drain piece used in this section of the video is one of the correct ones to use... not like the one that you removed on your first video/demolition. If i recall correctly the other drain piece is mostly used in fiberglass shower pans. Good videos though

The backer board shd never be put in first, then mud the pan. Water can accumulate and penetrate backerboard and climb behind the backerboard. Order is mud the pan then backerboard
