Papa and I show all of our catalpa trees and the catalpa worms that are hatching out. We raised a lot of these trees and got them from all over the state of Arkansas. We have a lot of small catalpa worms that will be ready to pick in about 10-14 days and there will be another video on that. If you have any questions on catalpa worms just leave a comment below. #catfishcandy

Yall have a full blown catalpa farm. I just pick a few off the trees around friends houses when I can find'em. I may need to get some trees planted too because we don't find many anymore. The trees are plentiful around but the worms are hard to come by

Yea. We have worked hard on keeping the trees looking good. I know some areas that are full of trees but no worms. I have introduced worms to a tree and they have had worms on it ever since. I just make sure I leave a good amount to reproduce. I went on a trip and on the way i seen some catalpa trees on the side of the road. On the way home, I stopped and pull them up. I got home and put them all in pots and watered them every day. Some of them lived and some didn’t. The catalpa tree at the beginning of the video, my papa and I pulled it up several years ago.

Yea I know some areas that never have worms.if you plant some and If you never have worms, you may have to drive around and find some to bring back home to your trees to start the reproduction cycle.

Great video! Finally ordered me tree online still young but growing lots new leaves...will worms appear on my tree or do i need to transfer to my tree? Fished w them years ago and always wanted my own tree..do i need more trees? Am in Fla panhandle btw
@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786
@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786 3 года назад
Thanks! Worms could appear on your tree. If not, you need to transfer some to your tree. I would have as many trees as possible. I might would wait for the tree to get decent size before having a bunch of worms on your tree. From what I’ve read it is hard on a young tree when the catalpa worms eat all the leaves.

@@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786I read online that not all Catalpa trees have worms and I saw on YT people have Catalpa tree in backyard and no worms. That is my hope because I liked this tree for blooms, fast grow and canope shape. Collected few seeds to see how it grows and just ordered one live tree online. Do I have a chance not to have worms on the tree? Maybe it depends on area. We live in Northern NV and air is dry. We don’t have even mosqitoes.
@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786
@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786 Месяц назад
@@rockyk9316 most likely you'll never have worms on your tree. A lot of ppl has to get worms from another tree to transfer to their tree. Then the worms reach full maturity and go into the ground to start the life cycle in your area. There is always a chance you could have worms on your tree, but in your situation sounds like you won't have any.

@@roberthavard2848 that's awesome on your new trees! We planted 7 new ones this year and I plan on doing another video this week showing all our trees and worms. papa and I picked 500 the other day. I hate that for ya on your worms. Sometimes there can be a bunch on a leaf out of sight. Did you have any thunderstorms in your area? I've had some very hard rains knock a bunch off. I really wish I could set up a camera of some kind to figure out what is getting all my worms off those 4 trees. It is crazy how they can disappear in a night.

@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786
@zachstuckeyoutdoors5786 Год назад
What state are you in? I have found a bunch on the side of roads when I’m on a trip or vacation. Once you have a tree, you have to introduce worms to it. Where I’m at mid June is the main crop of worms that come out. I recommend to let your tree get a certain size before introducing worms to it. some plant nurseries have them that you can order. Hopefully you can get lucky and find a nice size one close to home (look on the side of roads or in ditches). If you find a huge catalpa tree look for smaller ones around it. I’d wait till winter to dig it up and plant it. Get all of the big tap root. If you want to get it now, I have done it but some trees make it and some don’t. All the leaves will fall off, but just keep watering it and I put miracle grow food in it once a week to help it. The leaves will grow back. if you can’t find any trees, get online and order some catalpa seeds and plant them.
