+crystal Mcdaddy Those ponies are damn powerful. Those children, and ponies could be seriously injured if they couldn't stop their ponies. Also, you have to remember that while these children are probably stronger than their peers, they're still children. They don't have the same muscle mass comparative to their size as an adult would. Even if they look like they're pulling with all their might, it's not a considerable amount of force.
Yeah agree, I mean...those ponies are like 'GO GO GO GO GO' i agree that the bits are to strong, But 10- year olds are riding, And i saw a few leverage bits which i'm NOT happy about. I remember once someone asked if they could ride the pony for their first horse...I was drinking water and i choked on it xD
+Grace Dwyer Honestly I wish people would actually do some research before thinking they know better. If you study the form of those children, you'll notice that they use their bodies more than their hands to slow the horse. They keep a tight contact and relatively high hands to keep the ponies balanced. At this height a pony who is to far on the forehand will almost definitely crash. These children know what they are doing, and so do the trainers.
The American Paint Horse dont worry, it's not about height it's about getting it right and hey-Ho I've been riding for 13 years and I have only jumped that height ONCE.
My current pony is in a Dutch gag but he’s quiet a speedy one and if he wasn’t in it he would be practically uncontrollable but he enjoys his own work and u can clearly see he’s happy now my previous loan had a bevel bit and he didn’t need it at all he used to try and relieve himself from the bit and at the time I didn’t notice I thought he was just being cheeky but no his owner told me it was a simple snaffle only now when looking back at old pics have I realised
I love both. The reason I do Jumpers is because everyone agrees that my OTTB is 100% a jumper and I don't like the biased judges in Hunters. I rode a pony once and I got last place because the judge didn't like ponies. He admitted to it. Don't get me wrong, I really do love Hunters and the courses, I competed in that class with my previous horse. I guess that it's just how the experience goes for each individual that makes us prefer one over the other.
SAAME! I have yet to get a rail down in show jumping because I jump low fences, But once i got a refusal but I still placed xD I'm like O_O HUNTERS IS AWESOME!
I agree with some of these comments some of these riders are riding very poorly. But have and of y’all done show jumping cause I know I have and it isn’t easy you have to push your horse to the limit and try to reach the jumps at good strides and you will have to pull the reins no matter what y’all all think your horse gets insane and exited and you can only slow your seat sit back and pull on the reins. I’m not saying these riders are riding this well but show jumping is hard and these kids are jumping these heights on these ponies so give them a break.
Used to keep my horse at ingilston lovely yard and venue couldn’t recommend it enough got my exams this year so just have a loan then I will be getting a new eventer and hopefully it will be stabled at ingilston again 🥰🥰
The rider at 1:50 made a clear mistake. She was sitting really tall and forcing sitting her gait when it wouldve been better to get out of the saddle a bit. And before the jump she sort of surprised her horse with a smack of the crop
Spirit Horse I ride english as well and there is a difference between contact and grabbing/pulling. Contact is supposed to be light and a horse is supposed to move, happily, into it, the contact is not supposed to be a constant heavy pressure with no release which results in pain, numbness to pressure, bleeding, reluctance to work, and a lot of head movement.
Spirit Horse I am a kid as well and i don't do this either. Since all the riders in this video are kids, and i am responding to the video, the correct term is kids. Now i am not saying that every kid does this, but these kids have very strong ponies and are given strong bits because that is the only way the can control them (usually due to improper training of the pony). This also occurs in adults, where some constantly yank on their horses mouth with painfully severe bits that have no place in a horses mouth because they think that is the only effective way.
MyHorseAddiction u don’t need a hairnet for any showjumping adult or child btw don’t say I’m wrong I jump this high and btw the vids on my channel are from ages ago and my profile pic is from when I first rode my pony
