It’s terrifying that they’ve actually evolved to a point where they actually screech, and it’s ear-piercing, so these things are quite deadly then they use to be.

These graboids were genetically modified to be more powerful so the hunt would be more challenging. He didn't anticipate that a graboid would live long enough to become shriekers because he overestimated his abilities. These weren't African graboids they were normal ones.

Ya with levels or campaigns that go through the movies and you fight the different species of graboid. Mixmaster can be put in to add more variety with its animal amalgamations.

Tbh these mutant designs might be my favorites of the series. God Everytime I watch this series I can only think back to the time in 4th grade when I tried to convince my math class graboids were real. It did not work and I looked like a fool, but in hindsight I should have picked a more grounded monster then I could have pulled the joke on them better. god this series brings back memories. 😂

that's because they couldn't they explain that Shriekers screaming gives off a ton of heat which basically signals to the rest its a friend and not food the screams were nothing it was all about the heat it created

The graboid eggs were genetically modified to be more powerful so the hunt would be more challenging. The main hunter never anticipated that a graboid would live long enough to become shriekers because he overestimated his abilities. From the looks of it these shriekers are far more intelligent than the normal ones

If i recall correctly, what made the Shriekers and one Graboid in this movie different was that they were "mutant" byproducts or something at least that's what i remember, i haven't watched the movie in a long time.

They weren't mutants, they were genetically modified upon request to make them more challenging to hunt.

Basically they gave them stem-cell manipulation, steroids and other effects them make them difficult to kill. Like Bert said the weapons they used it be like spitting at Godzilla.

I have this funny idea, and a theory that I think bears are the natural predators of the shriekers, which could explain why they were not there in some of the movies for example Atlas bears of Africa, are the African shriekers natural enemies Polar bears of Antarctica, are the arctic shriekers natural enemies Grizzly bears/Mexican grizzly bears, are the natural predators of American shriekers Could also be, including the other extinct bears like the short-face bear

Ah, if you're asking why then I'm assuming you're okay with small spoilers? This is a gaming preserve, and they mutated the Graboids. So if you are familiar with their lore, Graboids have the option to breed into Shriekers after a time period. Though these are different, they have the ability to daze and disrupt its prey by ear deafening screeches. So they're even more dangerous then before, so instead vast numbers they also can use this ability to render their prey to a weaken state and then finish it off.
