Great video, the engine sounds awesome on the carbs, can't beat carbs for sound over FI. Have a great time in Jersey and all goes well, with no dramas.

Many years ago I rallied an Imp and had similar problems with dust getting past the filter and giving a 'free rebore'. The final cure was to put a large pipe through the rear shelf and have the filter inside the car, so no dust at all with the windows up on the dustiest stages. Cured, but not sure it would get past the scrutineers these days as the firewall is compromised. It was also very noisy with twin 40 dellortos.

Hey Andy, I just thought I'd let you know that when I did some experimentation with exhaust header pipe length on the Vauxhall engine, a 4/2/1 big bore header pipe setup with longer than usual primaries and secondary pipes was superior to shorter ones like you have used, try 30" long primaries and 30" long secondaries and see what I mean, cheers and good luck mate, Roland, HT Racing Ltd

the reason you position the gap 90 degrees BTDC ( it doesnt actually have to be 90 but it needs to be a reasonable amount before TDC) is because your dealing with spark advance, you cant advance what isnt there, so you run trigger wheel advanced and the ecu retards the spark, to actually advance the ignition the ecu simply give less retard :)

Hi Andy - message for Ed Linton. Would that be Eddie (as we knew ‘you’ in the 1960s/70s) from Southerland Way, Vicars Cross in Chester? Mike Owen here - if it’s you then all the very best and glad you’re keeping the Imp faith after all these years!

Andy you told me everything was clean where it had to when you assembled a engine. Is your lathe cleaned where necessary slides , gibes , lead screw how to you maintain accuracy with that amount of wear ! Kit from down under

Something I don’t understand why don’t you add a weights to the big end journals to allow for the mass of the bottom of the conrod?
@thehillmanator
@thehillmanator 3 месяца назад
hi John, you only need to add counterbalance weight when you are dealing with a V8 crankshaft the four-cylinder crank counter balances itself out as there was always two opposing each other so you don’t need to put weights on it to balance it. Hope that helps andy

Hi Andy has the air filter been oiled correctly? Never had that amount of dry debris in side a k& n or a oiled foam moto x bike filter ever?
