When you are new to Red Cherry Shrimp keeping, there is so much information, and misinformation, that it can be hard to know which is which.
I don't think Red Cherry Shrimp keepers need to worry about;
1: Water Temperature
2: Substrate
3: What to feed Red Cherry Shrimp
4: How many shrimp they should start with
5: Algae in the shrimp tank
I have been keeping and breeding shrimp for the past few years, and, at the time of recording, I have spent the last two years making a sizable income each month from breeding shrimp.
During this time, I have picked up several tips and tricks to help more baby shrimp survive to adulthood. In this video, I share those tips and tricks with you!

I am so excited to watch this video. I just got into the shrimp about 4 months ago. I made the mistake of buying several different colors and put them all together. The tank was planted very heavily and they all immediately hid. So after a couple of months I took out a massive amount of plants and realized I had ended up with a tankful of ones that look like the wild version. They are grayish brown. I want a colorful tank with just one color so I am going to set up a separate one for these guys. They are reproducing like crazy. 😂

@@melissasmanisandmore Sounds fantastic :D I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but where I live, the "pale" shrimps with "not enough color" is looking at like they were trash from many people. Everyone wants just the "good ones". Because of that, I could get about 20 red cherry shrimps for free, only because they didn't were "good enough to sell". However, some of them now have a dark red, beautiful color. Some have less. Some have a really interesting pattern... I love all of them. And now I want yellow ones as well, but that's going to be in another aquarium, together with yellow guppies.

@@NinniAquariums I can see how a lot of people wouldn’t want these with less color but I love them. I like to watch them when I put some daphnia in for them. It floats so they grab a piece and float down to a leaf or rock upside down 🙃. It’s like some sort of messed up acrobatics haha. 😂.

Since blood worms float on the top how do the shrimps feed on it because the other fish gobble it up once given.
@FishKeepingAnswers
@FishKeepingAnswers 4 месяца назад
Simple. Place two cubes of bloodworms into a cup of aquarium water for 10 minutes to allow the cubes to melt. Then, pour the whole cup back into the aquarium, spreading it around as much as possible. Unless you have an army of fish in there, some blood worms will make it to the shrimp at the bottom. The number of cubes of bloodworm is variable depending on the number of fish/ shrimp 👍🏻

Great content! No filler to lengthen the video. You give your points and expand on them with facts and reasoning. You mention using any leaf litter from the yard as long as it is free of chemicals. Can you use grass clipping, dried weeds, dried dead flowers from an arrangement? I'm curious if this common stuff that gets thrown away is suitable. If so the aquarium can kind of be a fun visual composting show.

Hi i have a Question! how can you tell that your fish say a guppy or Endler have reached old age and is ready to pass and not mistake it for being sick???
@FishKeepingAnswers
@FishKeepingAnswers 4 месяца назад
This is a good question. Typically, when fish get sick, it isn't just a single fish that dies or looks close to dying. Typically, if I have a tank with 30 or 40 guppies in, and I lose one during a given month, I don't worry about it. I put it down to old age, bad genes, or some unknown condition. If however, I lose 2, 3, 4, or more fish in quick succession, then I start to look for pests or diseases. Hope that helps

Hi. Simple answer, assuming you choose plants considered ‘easy to grow’. Use regular gravel (the plants won’t care), don’t add CO2 (the plants won’t need it). Consider using liquid fertiliser, but many plants will grow just fine without it. Would love to hear how you get on 🫶🏻

Great video and very informative as usual, Richard. How do you prepare your Indian almond leaves before putting them in your tank? Do you let them soak in boiling or hot water first or do just drop them straight in? Also, is there a thing such as too much flow? Would too much flow potentially affect shrimp eggs from not sticking on rocks or other hard surfaces once laid?
@FishKeepingAnswers
@FishKeepingAnswers 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated. I just chuck the leaves in and let them float for a couple of days before they naturally sink down. Sometimes I will weigh them down in the tank with a rock. Never bothered to boil them first. Can you have too much flow? Yes. It's about trying to strike a balance between enough flow for sufficient circulation without exhausting your aquarium occupants because they are constantly battling the water currents.
