I lived in japan for 5 years in shibuya , now moved back to india. You must be aware of few things. Japan's life is much different from what you see in anime. you’re always a foreigner or “gaikokujin” (more rudely, a “gaijin,” literally meaning “outsider.”) You won’t necessarily be met with violence or overt racism, but things like getting an apartment or a car can be tricky, and you’ll always be a foreigner in your community. People may ask questions about your hair or your skin. As a largely homogenous country, the concept of “Japanese” still seemingly only applies to “pure-blooded” Japanese people. Even half-Japanese people have labels (like “hafu”). Specially for girls/ladies, Japanese have insane standards when it comes to weight. Never get in contact with person who is from yakuza. Food is not flavourful in japan. If you find an old men lying on ground because of health issue, don't touch them, instead call police or an ambulance. (You will think who doesn't help old person) i will tell you an incident, i had a korean friend in tokyo, he helped a old man lying on ground and called an ambulance. Later, that old man and his family members, demanded around 20 lakh rupees from him for his health expenses. Japanese are only helpful when you try to find path. You can find house where Kodokushi (孤独死) happened at cheap price for rent. But, before search about Kodokushi (孤独死). Last, you will find lots of missionaries trying to convert you into Christianity if you live in rented house or apartment, they will stick around you for long. Don't hesitateto call police, if they annoy you. Hope you enjoy your studies in japan.
