Mahonia media is an evergreen shrub that blooms (depending on the region) in late autumn or early winter. The plant looks very impressive in the winter garden, decorated with huge inflorescences of yellow flowers. This mahonia is a rare exotic plant, it has been growing in my garden for 5 years (Ukraine, Odessa region).
Mahonia media is often confused with Mahonia japonica, they are similar in appearance, but they are different species. Mahonia media is a hybrid that was obtained artificially from crossing Mahonia japonica and Mahonia oiwakensis subsp. lomariifolia.
In the video I will tell you how the Mahonia media differs from the Mahonia japonica. I will show you how my Mahonia media grew and wintered for 5 years. You will learn about the minimum temperatures for the plant, as well as what frosts the flowers can withstand. And under what conditions will Mahonia media bloom.
