When I ordered my first top quilt from Pariah, they sent me a nice black mesh bag, and I'm thinking, "well that's a might nice of them to throw in a free laundry bag"! I even took it to the laundromat a couple of times, until I saw a video explaining that the bag is for storing the quilt. It was a total "DUH" moment!
Buying gear to improve the camping experience or just to satisfy one curiosity, leaves a man with lots of memories, and looking forward to making even more. Your personal drive and love of life is inspirational Shug. Thanks for sharing.
All that gear is memories of past trips and dreams of future ones!! It is also great to have options for all trips and times of the year. Great collection!! Thank you Shug for your time making the best videos on RU-vid!!!
All secure in sector 7! Yeah buddy. I thought I had a lot of gear, my wife and I had to move out of the master bedroom so we could store our gear. Thanks for all the hammock gear tips dude.
Thanks for sharing. That's fairly organized. As we all collect gear over the years it starts to boil over, one bin, two bin, four bins... I think you have motivated me to get more smaller more specific bins... but of course leaving some key items out to remind me to getback out on the trail.
Love the tour; thank you! “Leave it out where you can see it.” Best advice for sure. Your hippie brother is pretty good on the mandolin too ;) All the best Shug. ✌🏼🏕
Leave it out there where you can see 'em, that every time that I see 'em I'm gunna go "I gotta make time for that!" -Shug (Shug) Emery 2022 brilliant simplicity, Shug. Thanks for that
That leave it out thing is so true. I kept my snowboard in my home office this year so I would always have it front of mind. Side note, I tried medaglia d'oro a few weeks ago after spotting it in the grocery store and recognizing the name from your videos. It was fantastic! They owe you some free coffee my friend.
Neat to see a little deeper into the nut hut, I dig it! Much better organized than I imagined! And lovely totem pole! I have but a few humble shelves for gear storage, but now dreaming of a nut hut to call me own.
@@shugemery wise choice, looks like a lovely home from what I've seen of it! I've heard each totem pole links to a unique story or meaning among the native american tribes. I have a small hand carved 4" totem pole from my visit to Ketchikan, Alaska on my shelf. It's a wolf who's holding and eating a fish, and a bird sitting on his head with outspread wings.
Great REI store you have Shug! Very organized and lots of great stuff. I like the hammock to nap in the middle of it all. Great to see Bean again! He looks very happy 😃
Storage doesn't get credit...well until now! Nice run through the nut hut. Like an extension of your brains hobbies and imagination. After a January trip I went through my bins and cleaned out some old stuff. Good feeling! Woo buddy and ALL Secure
I enjoyed seeing your gear room. I too have a collection of stoves I tried and set aside, as well as pots and such. However I have a few tried and true items I’ve used for years. I love being out in nature, especially when I’m warm and comfortable. I’m hoping to go snowshoeing one last time before the snow melts to no fun. Thanks for your videos, and music.
The multitude of gear, equipment, repair items, food, etc. reminded me of visiting the Quartermaster in the military (except most items in QM were olive drab in color)! Thanks for the walk thru the Nut Hut!
@@shugemery daughter moved back home in my craft room.so I had to move it into basement storage.remodeling the kitchen now ,most of it done before garden season begins.cleaning out boxes as I go.we retired then his mom and aunt and uncle passed away, had auctions and yard sales and still finding stuff.broke my arm last summer.but I hope to get camping this year sometime .want to set up my jeep to sleep in,can't do ground tents anymore.i am 68
Thanks for the insight into how you do it. Good to see and get ideas. Also….GREAT advice to leave a piece of gear out to motivate you to get out. Stay safe shug!
Sometimes my job sucks. Home life can be hectic but it's always a good day when Shug posts a new video! And if he gives us a little bit of mandolin playing, all the better!
I was just at the canoecopia paddling expo here in Wisconsin last weekend and they had a Superior Gear hammock booth! I got to meet the guy and he had two hammocks set up. I laid in it and it was pretty comfortable. I love my WB ridge runner but one of those might be in the future..
Shug ! looks big like a whole store in one place. But I must comment....stove are on top of a stack-able and whats under that!!!! treats ! see I do the same thing sit (test gear ) make coffee and check the shelf life of my candies.... Bad me. Agree that you need to open stuff up and see whats growing in side before you head out. Had / Dad put the canvas tent away slightly damp I go to use it and mold inside, could never sleep in that tent would have a allergy attack and sleep cowboy style the rest of the trip. Where to next ? our snow turning to mud need a few day's to firm up before too long. Then outside for high lake fishing. Have fun.
I have a spacious walk in closet in my home where all my gear is but I think it's time to hang my bags on one of many open walls as a reminder like you mentioned. That'll be tomorrow's task when I can hammer a hook in the wall without waking up the neighbor! Thanks for sharing your nut hut with your gear.
@@shugemery It was 80 here on the beach in South TX yesterday, probably only get to 70 today. Spring has arrived. 😂😂😂 Hope Spring extends to Minnesota soon.
I totally hear you about keeping stuff in view in order to keep the motivation and adventure planning alive. Unfortunately, my wife doesn’t understand that….😂
Just got my first “nice” down quilt. An Enlightened Equipment Enigma (love that they’re local). Really appreciate you taking the time on gear care: half the battle is just keeping “nice stuff” nice.
So I just bought a hammock for backpacking and just found ya! Love the vibes man!!! I’m an ex pro clown, I fly model planes, I hike and fish and just as big of a goof ball as you man!!! Love the content!
I received my Superior Hammock Monday, and I'm looking forward to doing a practice hang this weekend. I currently use an Amok Dramur 3.0, and I've been a little intimidate by a traditional style diagonal lay hammock. Looking forward to seeing how it will work out. Now I need to purchase a tarp then off to the woods.
Helpful to see the way another guy does it. Always moving things around organizing but thought I was the only 1 wanting a sewing machine. Would like to get rid of the stuff I don't use but too lazy to put it on eBay. Some good tips on visual stimulation.
Learned to sew when in Clown College. Handy skill to use a thread injector. I've never sold much of it. Given a lot away but like to keep it around to loan or change up. I call it "collecting."
I've done a few give-aways. Now I just give it to boy scouts. Most cost me a ton in shipping as I did international. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZNo7rXGPXRg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jmRdSHt2lVw.html
Shug, I know you know the “how to” in the cold winter woodlands. I’ve been drinking Medagalia D’Oro Instant Espresso for several years now. I know ‘Joe!’ And I alway bring it when camping. Every morning, MdO warms my soul. Yummy. That and a piece of toasted sourdough, butter and honey.
I seriously have to credit you for the choice of alcohol stoves. I have carried a Trangia for well over 30 years. And I love it because it's simply bulletproof. That said, I've started carrying a Fancee Feast for the most part. There's times I quite often reach for the Trangia, especially when I'm carrying one of the keyed pot and pan kits that either came with a Trangia or a couple that use the knockoff version.
That's a sweet mancave. I like bins too. One concern I would have is mice. They get into my shed and have built nests and pooped and chewed stuff. Maybe Bean is on guard for them? Also, what's the story behind that building? Did you build it?
Our mice come to the actual house. Better food there. Building was part of the home when we bought it in the EARLY 90s. Totem came with it. Hickery and I raised the roof so I could practice juggling in there.
Shug holy smokes your nut hut 🛖 is more like Shugs outfitters store something for all occasions..lol that's quite a bit of gear. Enjoyed the video.Be safe out there.
As always, enjoyed the video!! I have considered moving my camping/hiking gear to my outside storage building, but the one thing that has tempted me not to do it, is humidity causing damage (mold especially). As I know you know, North Carolina has high humidity in the summer, and good gear isn't cheap. I guess if you have a conditioned out building, that would be better....what are your thoughts, or experiences with non-conditioned spaces, say an outside storage building?
My Nut Hut is heated. Long Winter here. AC on and off in Summer depending. Gear has always beed good out there. Maybe get a dehumidifier if concerned and mouse-proof it.
Last tent....2006! I jammed this weekend but did not film. I'll try but sometimes just want to be in the moment. Hard to film a jam when I'm in the Jam!!! ru-vid.com/group/PL966F84D9A21266A4
