Shure Aonic 50 Headphones | Full Review

How are the Anc and Mic on these headphones ? Do these connect well with laptops ?

@@SR-ok6fz ANC is top-notch! The transparent mode is superb! The most important thing is that the sound does not get muffled when you turn the ANC on. The soundstage, clarity, and tonality are excellent. No Sony, Bose, or Apple can compete with this. The only downside of this headphone is the companion app, which does not support streaming music like Spotify or Apple Music. But if you have FLAC or MP3 files in your phone music library, you can play them through that companion app. The mic is above-average, I'd say. Better than Sony, Apple, but not as good as Bose. But it is no secret that the mic in all Bluetooth headphones/earphones are not good. They all sound somewhat mechanical; some more than others. This is on the better side. Yes, this connects to laptops/desktops or any device with a Bluetooth connection. I must tell you that the most fascinating thing about this product for me is that 1-meter charging cable Shure provided; because all the others provide this 6 inches charging cable which is simply trash! (The headphone cable that Shure provides with this is of excellent quality, too.)

@@sudipchatterjee I heard these Aonic 50s got a firmware update to where they can store EQ changes. Now you can tweak the sound and it will work across any app as opposed to device music only.

may I ask what was exactly better when you chosen B&W over Sony? Im actually now thinking about XM4 vs P7 vs Shure. Majority of test are being done with no LDAC used on the Sonys but with AAC with music played on ios. Did you have a chance to compare yours with LDAC ?

@CHARLES 13X like to be honest Charles, Sony Xm4 is a good pair of headphones which needs approx 20h to warm up. Under certain conditions you can use their potential however we can not speak here about out of the box + iphone experience. You need LDAC focused on audio quality in developer options, device which supports 24/32 bits as for example Galaxy S21 series, small eq corrections and sound can surprise in positive way, believe me. But we are talking here about Bluetooth connection not cable. Based on my testing it is one of the best Bluetooth, closed headphones but sound quality expectations is a really personal topic, everyone likes different signature and expecting something else, Xm4 are well balanced after all and not that bass focused as XM3.

Kind of annoying how the industry has coupled Bluetooth with ANC. All the marketing is about the ANC, all I want is Bluetooth and sound quality!! Ordered these headphones because they seem to be the only brand prioritizing sound.

The build quality isn't that great either tbh, but I think that you're not going to find a perfect pair of headphones anywhere. It all depends on which specific specs you care about the most.

Agreed. I have 3 sets of broken plastic headphones. Someone could get rich by simply making a set of wireless headphones that don't break.

Not a chance, it doesn't outclass flagship headphones from other brands. The max I'd pay for these would be £300ish, and even then I wouldn't be just be happy with good sound quality and durability. Edit: The latest Rtings.com review just highlights my point perfectly, these overpriced cans are indeed outclassed by the competition. Why spend over £350 for these, when you can buy better headphones for £100 less?

@@MarkMphonoman I travel all the time for work, long haul and so although comfortable in a chilled environment they aren’t too practical.

@@nyx3983 Yeah agree, the big drivers are better sonically but again, purchasing decisions come down to each individual use case. I’m a drummer so always desire top quality audio but as I travel a lot for work (not drumming work) it’s not practical .. too big and clunky for my use case. If I’m sat at home - big drivers all the way!!

From Soundguys...."We reached out to Shure about the AONIC 50 and the representative shared the following. “The yokes (the parts that attach the earcups to the headband) are aluminum. The earcups are resin (plastic). The earpad cushions are synthetic leather, sometimes called ‘protein leather.’ " I assume the resin ear cups are to reduce the overall weight....👍

The build quality for these are not worth their price, B&W make more durable headphones for a similar price.
