great video again scott. I really the idea of a cordless mic and cordless bass set up, all in one system. I also like that you mentioned this is your 'go to' system in regards to being reliable, especially if you start adding other wireless equipment on stage. In my opinion, no need to do a complete video on the expensive set up, maybe just a quick blurb of what the difference is and why the extra price, but its a preference thing. Keep up the good work and your videos are always interesting with a no bullshit or sales pitch on anything

I tried the SLXD14 for guitar. Solid build, easy set up, no latency but have some issues with guitar tone in my IEM mix and FOH. I use a Helix with a band that goes direct to a Behringer XR18, use a Shure PSM300 for my IEM. The gain setting between the transmitter and receiver default was at max so signal was clipping, adjusted all the way down to get to a similar level as a cable. The next issue was how thin and brittle the sound was. A/B between cable and wireless and the tone difference was obvious in the IEM and FOH sound, not so obvious going direct to a real guitar amp. Adjusted gain on the SLXD4 as low as I could, tried the high pass, Pad/Boost setting and even between Mic/Line level settings. Not happy with added brightness in tone and would hate to adjust eq on all presets I have been using live. Prefer the cable sound.

Hello, how are you? I have a serious question. Could you tell me which microphones you would use for the receiver? Which microphones are compatible with the Shure ULXS4 Wireless Microphone? I wouldn't mind the brand of the microphone. They could be Chinese. I don't care. I just need to make sure it is a specific model. What functions with this receiver, well I have it but it does not have microphones, thanks in advance

Do you recommend the SLX over the GLX-D+ systems? I currently use two original GLX-D units, and while it worked great for years I now get dropouts no matter what channel (overcrowded 2.4?). I was considering two GLX-D+ units, but this seems more robust for not whole lot more..

I have the Shure SLX-D DUAL wireless system and I can't get both mics to sync at the same time. When I sync mic 1, it works great. But when I then sync mic 2, it seems to be deleting all the information from mic 1. End result, I can only use one of the two mics that came with this system. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Same with my SLXD4. Telecaster, passive pickups, helix. Testing both IEM monitor sound and FOH. The signal clips and tone has more treble and sounds brittle. Clipping gone with receiver gain down below the “optimal” range but still notice the brighter tone vs 15’ cable. High pass filter did not help. I have not yet tried adjusting the body pack transmitter pad/boost settings.
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 3 месяца назад
@@ranjakT I would try that, and if that doesn't fix it perhaps you got a bad model and should replace it.

Assuming I understand correctly, I’m not sure as I have never tried that.
@sneezingfrog
@sneezingfrog Год назад
I assume you're asking about the SLXD4D. In answer to your question, yes and no. In general yes, it's basically two receivers in a single rack unit, with built-in antenna distribution, so yes, you can use two transmitters with different frequencies and group / channel configurations simultaneously (understand what groups mean though -- you typically don't want to use different groups). No, in that they sell these units in three distinct frequency bands, and when you buy a SLX4D, both of the receivers are in the same band, e.g., G58 (470-514 MHz), so the transmitters must also be in that frequency band as well, i.e., if you have a G58 unit, it can only use G58 transmitters with it.

I’ve landed on this exact same system (including the 87A capsule) for my wife’s project after a lot of research. Question/advice regarding our next wireless purchase: Right now we have the SLXD for her mic, QLXD for my guitar, a single Sennheiser EW300 G3 IEM for her, and for my IEM a VocoPro IEM which actually uses two different frequencies in the 900MHz range for the left/right ears (weird but it has worked well so far). I’ll check your channel to see if you have reviewed that system, I’d be curious to get your thoughts on its design. We are also running our own dual band router for our XR18, and a pair of WIDI Master wireless Bluetooth MIDI dongles. I want to add wireless IEM for our bass player, who will be in mono, and I’m struggling with the decision to go with Phenyx Pro PTM-10, which may compete with our other 900 MHz system, and is larger and maybe less robust in build than my other choice: the XVIVE U4, which may compete with our router, but is small, bulletproof, and rechargeable. They cost practically the same, so it’s a tough call.
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Год назад
Nice! I’ll have to look into the VocoPro, I haven’t heard of that one. But the PTM will be great. If you have just one other device in 900, it will be fine to just add 1 one. You’ve got a great setup going! 🤘
@stevesheroan4131
@stevesheroan4131 Год назад
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the quick reply, as always! I suppose technically I have two 900MHz systems going, but I think I’d rather take my chances with the PTM-10 than compete with 2.4G. The only time I’ve struggled with 900MHz (with my previous Shure PGX guitar wireless) was on a cruise ship gig, where I’ve struggled with EVERYTHING but the QLXD. An enormous steel boat with 3000 com systems going and radios and satellites just doesn’t agree with a band’s wireless gear for some reason… I recently went to a constituent’s show, and he was using the PTM-10, but I forgot to ask how it was working for him here in the Nashville area, where wireless is notoriously crowded. If he’s been good with it, that and your advice will definitely seal the deal on my decision. Thanks again!
