Not sure you watched my whole series, plus the update on this ( years ago ) but I knew when the owner of Shurhold and I were in contact, this problem would be addressed by the company. My 21mm long throw polisher still serves me well to this day. I use it for paint enhancements when I'm not trying to remove defects, just trying to add some gloss with an ALL IN ONE polish / protection in one step, fast ! Thanks for the update and for being part of my channel.
Sure thing ! Thanks for the subscription, I'm not as driven as many as far as putting out a lot of videos on a regular basis, but I did recently get some new software for making videos and been shooting some long term stuff with the Nikon DSL. I've got lot's of great stuff to share, thanks for being part of my channel.
Thanks man. Appreciate the difficulty of uploading videos constantly I would not worry about it, we all have a life outside RU-vid. Saying that, it will be great to see the new stuff too. Thanks again man.
I do want to add that in this video, had I actually adjusted the throw of the orbit while I set it down on the desk to the other side of the orbit, it would have shown EVEN MORE of the weight of the machine putting even more warp on the backing plate. I've had calls/texts/messages about the aspects of what I'm showing. I did suggest to the CEO that they should remove the backing plate when they import these from China, or better yet, right at the factory.
Thanks for this info.. I just purchased a 3500 on Ebay and in the info it said it had a bent backing plate. The pics showed it and with the info you have told us I picked up a 22D backing plate to go along with polisher. Will wait for polisher and B/P to see how things go.. Again THANKS for info !!!!!!
Polishers BP is bent up on edges probably from storage other wise polisher is brand new. Did some research on 3500 and on amazon almost every one had a write up on BP being bent... Tried Maxshine no wobble but no free spin. Torq should arrive in next couple of days also spacers from griots. Will update JJ if there is a way to contact you I will send some spacers to you to try out also....
Mine was not shipped like that in the box. The plate was not installed, kept separate, and the piece that mates to the oval drive is taller for more space between the backing plate and the polisher.
I'm really glad to hear this. I had a lot of interaction with the company which I think I explain in a video called Amazing Customer Service. I'm glad that they made the changes that I suggested. It's a great polisher.
I bought mine from Amazon, and my polisher didn't come with the backing plate attached. It was sitting in the bag separated, along with the other accessories.
I'm leaving that up to you, however if you watch the full series on this and the Washer Bolt Mod update I think that Shurhold really stands behind this tool, as where if you buy it from a second distributor then you are sort of gambling. I'm really happy with this DA. I have not had it verified if they have solved this shipping/storage problem with the pad getting warped, but I hope they have.
I've spent hours with the machine now and I have to say it is a workhorse. Hard to make stall and if it does you need to change your technique. My Rupes Mille just was delivered, along with the Rupes Blue/Yellow wool pads. I'm going to be doing a lot of paint correction videos in the near future.
Thanks for the link, just watched it, he does go on to say that the Shurhold does have a bit more power. Very interesting. I love my Shurhold, been doing more work in various conditions with it and it had been flawless. Life has gotten in the way of me making more videos, but that will change soon. I did just purchase the Rupes Mille and will be showing how forced rotation is that missing link for me between the rotary and the DA.
rmosley001 yes he and I both like 5 inch backing plates as opposed to six , I have used the 6 inch Shurhold backing plate and their Red waxing foam pad and I found it to be completely fine for that as you can get a lot of wax down over large areas in a short period of time . I do have several backing plates now that will work and will make another video about the use of them as I have two black test panels that I'll be setting up in the garage and be doing a lot of filming with
All info is on the website, but here is the info for anyone who needs it. Shurhold.com / (772) 287-1313 / Email is info@shurhold.com I called them as soon as I turned on my machine and it started smoking from rubbing the dust cover. They are very customer service oriented and really took care of me, I can't say enough good about them.
I think people should go we’re they they can afford it . I can’t afford 275 dollars but I can afford 175. And you have the eBay or amazon Guarantee. And they always back up what they sell or what the third-party sellers cell if you have a problem with any product from these companies you will get your money back
Richard Vacanti I actually for the last two days have had everything set up for my ultimate fix this machine for less than a dollar , I will be posting it this weekend
