I was there! I got there at around 4 with put tickets and managed to get a front row spot for the entire concert. It was my first concert, and easily the most amazing event of my life. We love you James
This gives me the goosebumps watching. I saw LCD Soundsystem in Buenos Aires last February and cried when they played 'New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down'. I think I'm gonna cry when I watch this documentary.
saw this movie today! it was quite an experience, people started getting up and dancing, and they actually clapped when the songs ended in the movie :) of course everyone clapped when the movie ended, i greatly enjoyed all of it and i wish i could recommend it but it was only for one day! buy the dvd! if it comes out lol
I had never heard of this band or James Murphy until a friend sat me down with a few drinks and showed me the movie. Brilliant work. I'm sorry that I can't see them live anymore, but at least I get to discover their music. James Murphy - what a force of nature.
i saw them in a night club/venue in Dublin a few months before that show which had a capacity of a little over 1000 people. now that's what i call a concert!
Saw this doc last night in Toronto. it was excellent - great song selections from the final show, an insight into his motivations for starting and leaving the band and his desire to leave the public eye. If I hadn't seen them play live for the final tour, after watching the doc, I would have been pretty pissed off that I had missed it!
i saw him (them, whatever) at Reading two years ago. it wasnt even one of their best shows, yet it was just so so good. they're just one of those bands....
So glad you're bringing this out - suspected you would when the concert footage went down after a day or two of being up. You were the band of my time.
Whenever I was listening to this recording and heard James Murphy say "we're making a movie called 'Shut Up and Play the Hits'", I didn't think it would happen, but in the back of my mind I really hoped it would. Then this miracle happened.
I tried to get tickets for the last show and when I clicked to purchase the tickets, they were already sold out :-( Can't wait to see this movie though!
That shot right at the end with James staring at all the equipment is brilliant. That image on its own could be hung up in a fucking art gallery. This movie's gonna be awesome.
i need to see this. never got to see them live and then the scalping fucked up my chances of going to this or any of the last shows. need to see this. so much.
I didn't see them at their last show, but I saw them at ONE OF their last shows, and I can say (without a trace of a doubt in my mind) that it was one of the greatest live musical experiences I have ever had the privilege to attend. LCD Soundsystem is more than a band to me and although they're no longer together, they'll live on... sorry for the sappy sentiment, I just love them!! Beautiful trailer, can't wait to see the film :) :) F Yeah LCD!
Well, did you not see that scene where his dog is laying on him and he moves him? That's the BEST SCENE EVER. HILARIOUSLY CUTE. It's like a youtube kitten video.
@DiscoStorm He didn't want LCD Soundsystem to age, wheeze, and die in a hailing storm of mediocrity like so many other major bands. He wanted LCD Soundsystem to end in a glorious extravaganza during the height of their popularity so they would forever be remembered fondly. RIP LCD Soundsystem, I love you, you crazy bastards.
