In this video, I visit the magnificent Pericnik Waterfall in Slovenia for the first time after wanting to visit for nearly 10 years. While there, I show you the different effects shutter speed has on water and how to get either the smooth, dreamy effect or capture the texture and detail in the flowing water.
For these photos I use a Kase magnetic polariser to help boost the contrast. One of the problems with photographing waterfalls like Pericnik is the spray that constantly hits your lens and filter. You need to keep wiping it dry. As the Kase filter is made of toughened glass it was easy to wipe dry without any smearing.
Pericnik Waterfall is a dual fall situated in the Vrata Valley, one of three valleys in Triglav National Park, Slovenia. It is easy to get to, and accessible to almost everyone. The lower waterfall is the largest at 52 metres tall, while the upper fall is smaller at 16 metres. Both are accessible by a short forest trail starting from the roadside.
