UPDATE-DO NOT ORDER UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO DEAL WITH HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE EVENT YOUR ALBUM ISNT PERFECT - I was so impressed with the book but initially there was a printing problem on one of the pages. I contacted customer service and they were going to send me another out ASAP. I was excited for the second book to come, thinking the page would be an easy fix. Well that was fixed, but the book came with a new problem. The gilding (which is an added expense) was all messed up and arrived with gilding dust ALL OVER the book. The gilding along the sides was not properly applied, in comparison to the first book. So I contacted them again. They said they would ship another book.
Third book arrived and there are printing errors on the pages AGAIN!!!!! And now customer service won’t send a fix. They want me to ship all three books back to them and they will see what they can do to fix the problem- but they will not refund!!! I specifically asked why quality control is not noticing these things before Shipping such an expensive product out. They are ignoring my question. They had multiple opportunities to inspect the albums prior to sending them, and now they want me to go out of my way to ship 33 pounds of photo books back to them to inspect after I’ve already sent photos of the problem?? I also have a newborn baby and we are still in a pandemic. Thanks #shutterfly for the horrible customer service. #unhappycustomer

I recently created a Shutterfly premium wedding album with the “make my book” service. I was really on the fence with using this service because it is very expensive and there were NO reviews showing this type of album. (All other Shutterfly albums reviews were their wedding photobooks, not the professional flush mount album). So, I’m hoping you find this video helpful if you are on the fence like I was, wondering about the quality and if it’s worth the cost. Sorry about the long boring beginning. 🤣

Thank you for sharing! There are very limited online reviews of the Flush Mount version of the Shutterfly Wedding Albums. Your review has helped me better understand the difference in the regular lay-flat vs. investing in the Flush Mount version.

You’re welcome! I felt the same. There aren’t videos that really show it yet. I hope the information was helpful. Unfortunately I am dealing with some customer service issues connected to my album. The book in the video had a damaged page, so I reached out to get it fixed. Now I’m on the third album and they are all damaged in a different way and it’s really frustrating. I still don’t have the issue resolved and I have paid a lot of money for something that isn’t perfect. At this point, unless it gets fixed, I don’t know if I would use them until they get the problems resolved or if they have better quality control checking the final product.

Update 5/25/21 - it’s been almost 2 months. After receiving 3 damaged albums, and hours of contacting customer service, they sent me a 4th book. They “promised” to check it over before shipping. I received it today. The gilding is STILL screwed up! Out of all the books, the only one that had perfect gilding is the first book (the one pictured in the video). If you are considering gilding, I don’t know if it is worth the risk to pay the additional cost because it might not arrive done correctly. Also, the 4th book I received now has damage to the leather cover. I’m exhausted and I am tired of dealing with customer service. Although their products are beautiful, I wish they were more careful about things being done perfectly. With such an expensive product, it needs to be done right. #shutterfly needs to get it together!

I really loved how you did your book! I love the professional look, and the quality is amazing! I read your having issues though with customer service.. Would you still recommend someone buying this type of book but maybe skip the gilding?

@@PurpleSpikedPig that’s a good question. Aside from the issue with the page in the first book, I was EXTREMELY happy with the first one I received. The gilding was beautifully done. I feel as though it could have been a quick and easy fix, especially if they were doing quality control after it was printed. That being said, if they had their act together, I would order another one from them because the quality was so nice and I was happy that I was in control of how I wanted to look. I’m also super picky and wanted it to be perfect because of the price I paid. Would I use them again for this type of thing? Maybe I would try one more time…. When I ordered this book, it was a new style of book for Shutterfly. Perhaps they’ve worked out some kinks from when I did mine.

Hi Erica, there are no reviews on the flush mount wedding album from Shutterfly. You are the only one that posted this review and I appreciate it! It took me four years to finally have time to work on my wedding album as well so you are not alone :). On a side note, how many pages did you use for your wedding album?

I’m a wedding photographer. Shutterfly is not a professional quality printer. If you want pro quality go with mpix. They are owned by Millers Lab who prints pro albums. Pro album designs do not contain more than 5 images per spread bc it becomes a collage photo book and not an album

Thank you and I’m glad you could find it a little bit of help. Mine is 70 pages! It’s definitely thicker than your typical 70 page Shutterfly album. Let me know if you have other questions! Im happy to help, because I feel like there is very little info out there about it!

It’s been over a month and I’m still waiting to resolve the issues. At this point I’m waiting until they contact me again. :-( I’m stuck with damaged photo albums and a huge credit card charge. So disappointing. #shutterfly #disappointedcustomer

Going from memory here… I think it was around $700 (originally more like $1400 but I used a bunch of discounts). I also maxed out on the number of pages and splurged on extras like a leather cover. It could have been done for cheaper.

Sorry you've had so much trouble getting satisfaction from the publisher, after spending all the time in design and all the money to purchase. I hope you eventually got a copy you can cherish through the years, and maybe pass on to someone else.

you list this as the Premium Wedding Album. But you are reviewing the Professional Flush Mount model. The Premium is one tier down and much cheaper. I was hoping to see a review on that one.

I cannot watch this anymore. Nearly 5 minutes into this, and we've seen the box, and a blank white cover -- no images, just talking. With all due respect to this Bride, your photographer did not sell/inform you properly on an album; or s/he did not have the skills to design an Album. I wholeheartedly appreciate what you have gone through, after 7 years, to finally design your OWN Album! Your approach is way better than most Brides, though, in that you DID design yourself an album! Congratulations Erica! I have spoken to many Couples, who when asked to show their "Wedding Album", present a 'proof book' or something -- no more than a Walmart photo album that they have cobbled together. I am sure your Album is better; however I cannot watch the rest of this video -- let's all give a Cheer to those Professional Photographers out there who DO offer their clients a professionally-designed Album! Erica: You seem to trust 'online' presentations over what a professional can do. My Clients ONLY see Albums produced by companies that ONLY sell their products to professional photographers (after I have personally designed the album) -- not to individuals or couples. There is a difference. You should not have to tolerate what I've just read in your follow-up comments.

Ha. I realize the intro is long and boring, and I never claimed to be an expert at RU-vid videos. It's definitely not my forte... but I created this so that people like me could see the album. There's a fast forward button. I am not a video editor... With all due respect to my photographer, she did offer me an album at the time. I declined. This is what I decided to do... seven years later. Lesson learned? Maybe... maybe not.
