I feel you. I've worked 1-2 years on my channel to gain something. And yes, you can get something. But not enough for a job. Not even comparable to a call center paycheck. In the end, I decided to turn off the monetization on most of my videos, since the monetization was too oppressive for the viewers and I was too stressed out to find a 'solution' to make a video for the viewers and the money (I feel sorry if I look greedy, but I'm basically poor) and started focusing on third-party platforms like Patreon, which is going well (but again, not well enough for a living). And yes, now the channel is a hobby, and what I get is just a plus. That said, I wish you the best with your new channel.
