In part 2 of this lesson on advanced time signatures, we explore a common but sophisticated task that engravers sometimes encounter: using different time signatures for each individual stave. This composition technique has been used for over a century and is still relevant today. The video demonstrates how to achieve this using Sibelius software, with examples of staves in 3/4, 6/8, 7/8, and 4/4 time signatures. The process involves hiding the underlying time signature, adding a fake time signature over the top as text, and manipulating the content of one or more staves to appear in the desired time signature.
