són perform one of Sibelius' lesser known gems, the Impromptu for Strings op 5, filmed live at Southampton's Turner Sims as part of the orchestra's launch concert "Sibelius Unwrapped" with conductor and artistic director Robin Browning
It is marvelous Robin! It is very special for me... It was the last piece that my conductor conducted before dying of cancer, so for all of us (choir and orchestra) is exceptional! THANKS!
It's fabulous, isn't it? It kind of captures both the melancholy & loneliness of his music, alongside the uplifting spirit and exuberance of dance. I love it too, glad to hear you do too
I've never said I hated any classical performance before, but this version is an abomination. It's not the orchestra or strings, but it's the director massacring the piece accenting unimportant details and then dimming important ones. It's almost anti-musical. What in the world has happened here!
