Hey I started listening classical music ,in December 2020 and have made a library of the music I listen ,and I have categorised based on mood and composer, Willing to see it in my channel or suggest something to listen ,I want someone to suggest me concertos as they are long and I don't wanna lose a lot of time for what may not be the absolute best,so I need someone to suggest me something absolutely worthwhile,20 its a lot ,Can you suggest me some?
@@vijaykrishnan7797 I'll suggest just 3 piano and 3 violin concerto to not overwhelm you. Piano concerto: -Rachmaninoff 2 is super accessible and an absolute masterpiece. -Grieg is another must listen and fairly accessible. -Rachmaninoff 3 is harder to get into but out of this world once you get it. Probably the best cadenza (the Ossia version, listen to Federova or Trifonov) and last movement I know (but you need the 2 other movements to build up to it). Violin concerto: -Tchaikovsky is accessible and amazing. -Sibelius and Brahms may require a bit more listens but are masterpieces. If you already know them and want more recommendations, feel free to ask. There are plenty of others astonishing pieces, but the 6 I recommended are really my absolute top 3 (in no particular order) for each instrument.
@@TheAskald hey just tell me if you can access this playlist that I am going to share its my favourites playlist and you wouldn't believe I have except Tchaikovsky's violin concerto at that playlist
@@vijaykrishnan7797 Yeah i can see your playlists! You already know a lot, I don't know if there is a lot I can suggest you at this point haha. Among what I didn't see (or missed), I could add Bruch violin concerto (definitely check Hahn performance). For piano concertos, both 1 and 2 of Brahms are intimidating (50 minutes) but definitely worth it (the 1st is closer to his 1st symphony in mood, the 2nd is much warmer and open, and easier to digest). And the Emperor concerto from Beethoven (the 5th) which radiates triumph, confidence, strength, joy (Zimerman performance is gold). The 2nd movement of Ravel concerto in G major is my current obession, a bit similar to Shosta PC 2 2nd movement that I saw in your playlist.
@@TheAskald some of my playlists are not available for everyone,I don't know why,but this playlist is what I want to share ru-vid.com/group/PL_qmj-OrzQE6j3iILNphlGzCSLoWkB_bb
It’s completely unplayable with 2 hands, maybe even completely unplayable with 4 hands because of the hand crossings. Definitely playable for 2 people on 2 different pianos though.
@@gsm5104 I know its really hard and that it contains lots of hands in order to play all the hand crossings and yea. But, with 4 hands it could be possible and more with friends.
