I love how Emily's character is written... she doesn't like whatever is going on and its okay because she has never been a part of this.... and on top THEY keep her in Dark... we actually see the movie unfold through her eyes.

Got a cousin who's a sniper that's done several tours and he said this movie has the most realistic shootouts of any movie he's ever seen.

Rest In Peace Jóhann Jóhannsson, a fantastic composer who made such a chilling score for this film. You will be missed.

Something that really interests me in this scene is Jeffrey Donovan at around 3:20 in this clip. His reaction time is already impressive, but the scary details come in noticing his shot placement and how many shots he makes. 8 shots total, 2 to each sicario in rapid succession. It's telling of his delta background and how this is almost instinctive. While this man may play second fiddle to josh brolin in the movie, he establishes that he's definitely one of the scariest men in the room.

"HD" in 2016 does not mean 360p

I think the female agent "character" in this movie represents the majority of the people that live in the United States. Completely oblivious and naive to a very toxic and dangerous culture that is the drug trade and the power of the mafia. To many people in Mexico this is a daily way of life. Of which, none of us here in the U.S. would truly know how to respond to if put in a situation like this!

The character wearing glasses who looks a tad nerdy makes it feel even more real, intense, and scary for some reason. I don't know why. Maybe because it's a subtle reminder that even nerdy looking people can make you feel intimidated.

Emily Blunt's character is out of line when she criticizes Josh Brolin's and his team for opening fire on the cartel goons. This wasn't portrayed as a direct action mission. It wasn't some type of "black" operation. They were going to take someone into custody, presumably with the blessing of the Mexican government. So everything was state-sanctioned and above-board. The U.S. operatives were on Mexican soil with a fucking State Police escort, moving to and from their objective only. When they got hit at the border, they had every right to defend themselves. They waited until the cartel soldier popped open the door of the Impala to take defensive action, and they gave the fuckers every opportunity to back down, only smoking them when the tatted-up goofball raised his gun. The asshole in the passenger's seat of the green Civic was even dumb enough to try shooting at badass Jeffrey Donovan *after* his buddies had already gotten themselves taken out. This was, in every respect I can think of, a "good shoot." "What the fuck are we doing?" my ass.

Villeneuve is a badass director.

I remember reading this in a Punisher story: "Three shots, change target, repeat. If you can't kill a man this way, you're doing the wrong job".

One of the best scenes and best movies in modern action cinema. Watching it over, it becomes more and more noticeable that Benicio Del Toro’s character does treat Emily Blunt’s character as a daughter throughout most of this film, albeit a bit firm but caring, and never condescending or disrespectful. Their interactions in the last act of the film are a bit of a departure from that dynamic, but they are shown to be unfortunate necessities and consequences of the shady and legally questionable tactics the characters must employ in the ruthless world they operate in.

The ending of this scene is brilliant. They everyday folk of Mexico being prisoners to traumatic violence while the Americans get to go home. Very similar to the ending with the families watching the soccer game while echoes of bullets ringing out.

Brilliant scene...brilliantly filmed. The tension here is palpable!

The director, Denis Villeneuve made this shooting scene awesome to watch. Too bad he did not direct the Sicario 2.

A terrific film and one of my all time favorites. As gripping and intense as the scene is, I still can’t understand the stupidity of the cartel assassins unwillingness to put down their weapons, knowing they’re out-numbered and out-gunned.

I love how the Josh Brolin character sits cool as ice, chewing gum, confident his buddies will take care of it all.

I love how it's never even explained that the thugs are just a cover distraction for the state police hitman, nor that the real target was Guillermo, and Kate was just (nearly) collateral damage. Villeneuve really respects his audience's intelligence.

The glasses character is such a testament to Taylor Sheridans writing. This character had minimal dialogue and screen time in the first film yet became a fan favorite from his funny wit and seemingly unassuming office nerd appearance yet when shit went down at the border the nerd turned into a stud dropping bodies along side delta force lol. Such a fan favorite that modern warfare released a skin based on this character 😂 gotta love it haha. I would definitely pay to see a back story film of him and josh brolins character

I’ve seen this film 10+ times. It never gets old. One of the best scenes in the movie. It couldn’t have been done any better. Quick but deadly. Not a drawn out 3mins gun fight where innocent people die. Just trained soldiers doing their jobs. The look Josh gave guy as if to say, all this just for you, was brilliantly executed.

Fun fact: the “DELTA guys” in the border scene & the mission brief are actual active duty Navy SEALs stationed at that base in Texas. The director while scouting locations at that base saw a few of the SEALs and long story short asked them if they’d be in a scene and to act and dress exactly how they would in the scenario. Makes this scene much cooler.

The gangsters in the cars were only supposed to create a diversion to get the agents out of their cars. Then the cartel cop sneaks up and takes out the prisoner who he mistakes for Ms Blunt.

I love this scene so much. Notice the training and effectiveness of this group. How as soon as they see the door open they take initiative and surround the vehicle before anyone can move a muscle. Perfect execution that's how it's done by the pros.
