Sick 90mm Wheels On A 3S Brushless Remo Hobby SMAX - Even Faster!

During the last two videos we had to learn: the stock rims of the SMAX are not able to handle the insane power of a 3S brushless system! But what else can we use? The nice looking, green 90mm wheels of a WLtoys 12428 Rock Climber are perfect!
There is only a minor clearance issue on the steering knuckle. We also have to trim the front fender a bit. The 12mm wheel hexes are identical. The result just looks sick and is even faster than before! Why? Bigger wheels = more circumference = more speed!

I ordered this looks awesome btw my dad tells me to not hit the throttle like that when your upside down or if your really stuck in a hole or something else because it can ruin your rc

Maybe look into taping your tires inside to limit the ballooning from higher revs.

Yes, it was funny. You should always use thread locker, even if you have nuts with plastic insert.

Idk what talking about but I have bad road rash and bruise from outcast wheels hitting my arm I still don't know what happened think it lost transition this truck looks cool winder all parts will be available as it would be 100 bucks gone once diff or something broke

Hello, 2440 racerstar shaft diameter is 2.3mm right? What pinion you use? Because 13t stock remo pinion gear diameter for the shaft is 2mm right?

Yes, you can find a drawing of the motor in the link in the video description. The pinion is the stock brass pinion and its bore is 2.3mm as well if remember correctly.

There is no real difference. You can use the same number for all wheels.

You sir are a genius!.. I'm trying to figure out the best pinion and spur gear combination for my S-max as I'm planning on upgrading to brushless. Also the gear pitch of the stock gears. Is it .07 metric? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks. Yes, I think the pitch is 0.7. As far as I remember, pinion and spur gear are stock. Parts links are in the video description.

You have to remove about 1mm with a file, because it collides with the rim

You need a bind plug to specifically bind each remote to each receiver

Really nice video again. Is it possible to slow the car. Like children mode or something? I want to buy one for my son, but i dont know if is not too fast. I know that 1631 brushed version is slower but i want to have one brushless car too. I have already FY01 Fighter brushed. On some remote is something lije a switch for downgrade(children mode) this have it too? Is this car firm, solid for children?

It is with PNP transistor and short circuit protection. No relay (I assume you are talking about my Mega PLC project).

I recommend 500'000 cst silicone oil for the diffs, so they are not too loose. gives more traction

The chassis is the same, but they will not have enough clearance inside the wheel housings, I think.

Can the the 90mm green wheels be used on a stock smaxx or are they too big for a stock system? Also, can a 3s lipo battery be used with a stock system?

The wheels will work, but the torque of the original motor may not be sufficient with this big wheel diameter. And you probably will fry your ESC / motor with 3S

What motor would you recommend to run the bigger tires...one that will work with the stock esc? I want to run the bigger tires for extra ground clearance but I don't want to spend a lot of money upgrading everything?
