Cedar is good to put in the cupboards with clothes to keep moths away.

Actuallly, cedar is really valuable to use for this, for making chests to store linnen in, and things for suanas and baths. An outdoor hottub with a woodburner would be perfect made from cedar. It's full of sap and self cleaning, antibacterial, so the traditional baths in Japan dating back many hundreds of years are made of Cedar and kept full of water with a lid on top, and smell heavenly to relax in (Stephanie could use that with her arthritis). It's likely an advanced craft to make such things, and not a Lalande priority, but I'm sure Amaury can find better uses for the cedar than as firewood!

Please give yourself a little R&R to get well Stephanie. Thank goodness Nick attended to the trees close to the Chapel long ago so any falling trees wouldn’t fall on the chapel! Yes! Use small gift bags (organza fabric) and you can make lavender sachets and cedar sachets cedar helps prevent moths so put the wherever you keep your cashmere and other wool things. That cedar wood may”spit” sparks too when burning so always use a fire screen or keep the wood stove doors closed. It burns fast and hot. It’s getting so “HOLIDAYS” at La Lande!

Just a possible suggestion for your many dining linens, you could do an Excel spreadsheet listing the different groups of napkins with a corresponding photo and keep in a binder nearby. Therefore, you know everything you have. You can add to it as you acquire more. Philip'stabke settings are wonderful. One of his many talents.

I was born in the late fifties. When we were kids, we never really made anything much of Halloween. Our efforts went to making our guys, taking them around asking " penny for the guy". The cash was spent on bonfire goodies. The main problem was getting men's clothing. People didn't have an abundance of clothing. We always seemed to manage. I had no knowledge of Thanksgiving. The more people get together to spread good wishes the better.

In my neck of the woods we call the Thanksgiving holiday l'Action de grâce and is always celebrated earlier than in the U.S. This year it took place on October 14th. I am always reminded of the holiday whenever I see the chaise longue in Lalande's kitchen because my mother would roast her turkey inside a large brown paper bag very slowly overnight. Considering the many times she had to get up in order to baste the turkey, that chair would have come in very handy. Thanks for the memories. 💕💕

Oh that little pumpkin house for Lancelot is perfect! Now he has a portable cocoon to relax in away from all the tall legs but right amongst you when you gather. They are great those little nooks! Your table was so beautiful and so were all of you! Get some rest now and I hope you're better soon. I'm sorry about the cedar, but you're very lucky to have Nick and Cameron there to take care of and monitor the trees, there's clearly disasters to avoid at all costs involving enormoys ould trees that just can't weather the storms. He's a real gem of a guy with all his knowledge and special skills for you and Dan! I hope Amoury will think of some great furture use for all that cedar timber, don't burn it, it's highly valued fantasticly fragrant, moth proof wood with antibacterial properties (commonly used for spas and japanese baths, hot tubs, exclusive saunas etc (not just shoe blocks). ❤

Your gratitude is shared -- by us! If it weren't for youtube Lalande would be a lovely bed and breakfast, event space (?), known to very few. I'm happy that youtube and Patreon is supporting the work on the chapel -- and the forestry! As I watched Nick saw those huge downed trees with his electric equipment I wondered what would have happened to the forest without this forum? And then, going back hundreds of years to when the Chateau was owned by aristocrats and/or royalty -- how many men would have been out in the forest using handsaws and hatchets to clear the fallen trees? Before watching this channel I had never thought about forest maintenance. It's a real thing! And what a beautiful way to celebrate Thanksgiving. Stefany, so much depends on you -- your health and your sparkle -- to keep this channel bright. You do everything so graciously. Now I hope you will have a good rest and recovery!

There is a European cousin of cranberries, the red whortleberry. They are delicious with baked camembert or as a sauce with game. Quite common in the middle European kitchen.
