The chemistry he had with Masvidal and Malone while playing was something special, they really did magic together. I remember listening to How Could I as a kid, by the end of the song I was in tears, thanks for all the magic, maestro, RIP.

Chuck needed a good drummer so the band is back together in the ether now.

I´m literally in tears. Sean is my favorite drummer of all times. Human was a super important album in my formative years; and, to this day, is one of may favorite records of all time. I can air drum that whole record even without pressing play. No other drummer has ever spoken to me so artfully as Sean. Def one of my all time musical idols. RIP Sean Reinert.

Sean was one of those drummers with an unique style. He was just on another level. RIP and my condolences to his loved ones.

Sean was amazing and the kit was set up at the side of the stage when I saw Cynic. He made the jazz fusion components come across in their music. A loss for prog metal and music fans. My condolences to his family and the guys. Saw Cynic in 2010 on my birthday and he passed on my birthday. Thanks for helping make amazing spiritual metal I’m sure you’re in the cosmos somewhere in pure peace smiling down on us.

This guy reminds me a lot of my own drumming. It’s as if I’ve been aspiring to play like Sean all my life, and never heard him play.

Even though I never licked cynics direction after focus, I always loved Sean drumming. So masterful, tasteful and dynamic. Rarely found these days.

One of the best ... and my absolute favorite in metal and fusion drumming .... i´m so sorry for his husband and paul. And of course the rest of the drumming world.

I,m shocked guys!!!! RIP Sean!!!! He was my inspiration for blending fusion with metal and as many my idol in my late teens and I had contact with him because he would come to see me play with Epica in LA , keyclub, 2006, but he couldn, t make it...Such a creative humble guy with a big heart for music,art, composition.... Pfffff... What can I say?? I have no words!!! My heart goes out to his family, friends, and people close to him, his husband Tom and ofcourse all drummers here!!! He will be missed...My deep respect for him, Jeroen Simons, Independent, ex- Epica.

Thank you for posting this. Sean was a truly unique talent. Putting his levels of finesse in to a genre like metal seems almost contradictory but Sean did it with ease. My fav drummer of all time. Absolutely gutted. Condolences to his family. Another monster musician lost way too soon.

I only recently heard of Cynic, and I’m pretty surprised to hear the various ways that they kinda pioneered prog metal as we know it today. Reminds me of Sikth, a band that was NOT well known years ago when their records came out, but who later became known for their place in history. Except other commenters are saying that Reinert died... maybe recently. Fuck he died YESTERDAY it looks like. Which sucks ass to hear. Well damn... Rest In Peace Reinert

This is one of the few deaths in which I'm deeply grieving... I really had a blast with their remaster of Traced in Air last autumn
