I was so relieved to hear you say "We do need carbs...". As a mental health therapist who focusses on nutrition and mental health, I am constantly trying to tell the palio/keto people that complex carbs are important for feeding the brain and help emotion regulation-just combine them with healthy plant based proteins. Great video that I can share with these very clients! Great video #VRA.

AGREE! And yuuuup... paleo and keto might be great for moving you away from processed foods and sugars, but they're not actually so good if you're going through a high-stress period. Complex carbs are definitely needed by the adrenals and nervous system to help calm down... and in the case of emotional and mental health, it's what helps create serotonin in the gut - so YES to complex carbs! 🙌

Thanks Andy! Well I guess it depends on how you’re feeling throughout the day and whether you have cravings - coz if you do, then yes it could be coz you’re skipping breakfast. For some people who are working with time-restricted eating, they might skip breakfast but it works but it’s coz they’re following a different program/ schedule. So... as with everything - “it depends”... 😬 try it as an experiment for a week and see how it goes! 🙌

One thing I do for breakfast is cook organic whole gluten free oatmeal, and as it's boiling, I crack an egg in it and whip it in. This creates a thicker, pudding feel to the oatmeal. I add cinnamon, pears and pecans at the end for sweetness, texture and protein, fat, fiber. This is a great breakfast on my heavy exercise days and keeps me full for hours!

Yes! Glad it’s worked for you! And if you try adding more protein to that porridge, it’ll also help maintain your satiety and those blood-sugar levels for longer... nuts, seeds, nut butters. Well done! 👍

Love these breakfast ideas!! It’s unfortunate that the more commonly known options are packed with more sugar and not the ingredients we need to sustain our bodies through the morning! Very intrigued by your combination of Marmite with hot sauce on the eggs. I’ve never heard of Marmite before.

Ah! Marmite is a UK thing (the Ozzy version is Vegemite)... aaaaaand... as with the Marmite ad campaigns say - “you either love it or hate it”. It’s basically yeast extract and it has a really umami/ salty/ tangy flavour. 🤗

I've never been able to do sugary carbs and coffee in the morning. Oh my, the crash is terrible. How anyone can do coffee and donuts is beyond me. I always have my coffee, but usually have oats now or avoid food all together until lunch.
