I thought the University and Gerrard wings just had clinics and offices now?, aren't all the patients cared for in the newer Atrium and Elm wings?. Great to see expansion though, will miss those old buildings from the many visits i had there up until about 10 years ago.
They have finished phase one. There’s a new building for their researchers and some clinics. they are starting to move some clinics from the black wing and researchers (many have been working out or rented space near by) into the new building. Phase two is they start tearing down the original building on university including the black wing. Eventually they will begin construction on a new building in that spot. You can look at the plans by searching Sickkids 2035.
Capital redevelopment of the hospital will need to be a combination of government funding and private philanthropy. Unfortunately, there are limits to government funding and it will not cover the full cost of the redevelopment project. The University Avenue side of the building will be rebuilt.
TheVikas it isn't perfect. Nobody said it was a perfect system. No we don't get free healthcare like everybody says we do, no, but at least because of the government funding we don't have to pay out of pocket the full amount when out kids fall I'll suddenly. I was a sick kid, I was born with a heart condition that made it so that I may have needed an open heart surgery. But thankfully I didnt, but with all the treatment that I got after that, my parents would have had to pay most of everything thatwith the crappy insurance my dad had at the time. They disnt, because of government funding, we could go home and not have to worry. No, it isn't perfect, but for the most part it works.
