but sadly the game still use the "english version' of their name. for example, "poundmaker" there. the heck. his real name is not like that. -_-" also, the most famous one, "genghis khan", should be "chingis han/khan". they clearly say it "CHINGGIS". not "GE". and it's also for other names there. english ppl butcher somany words from many languages.. even tho they dont have any reason to do that bcause their language capable to pronounce/spell it rightly. it's tolerable if their language is like japanese. limited to their alphabet letter. soo some names need to be "nationalize" to their writing form

23:43 it's such whiplash to hear Julius Caesar speak Latin with the unfortunate modern italicized pronunciation and then Trajan speak the correct Roman Latin immediately afterwards
Ikr, especially since Julius was one of the more important figures in the history of Rome, felt a bit suspicious right after he pronounced caesar as "see-zar" and not "Kae-zar" like Trajan did. Why did they doubled down on the effort..huh..
as an italian who studied latin these pronunciations are CRAP horribly executed. I just wish they'd gotten someone who actually knew how to speak the language
Two errors in the Azteca section, it is "Moctezuma" and not "Montezuma", also in one of his dialogues he pronounces the "tl" as if it had a vowel. But still I love listening to our language, which is so diverse in dialects that it doesn't even appear in Google's official translator.
Montezuma is his name in English and they chose a Mexican voice actor (very talented indeed and well-known in dubbing), but he is not a native Nahuatl speaker.
@@pablor.sepulveda9929 I noticed that, he's really skilled. And I made another mistake, It's not "Moctezuma" either. His original name was "Motekusoma Xokoyotsin". My bad.
18:33 Lautaro voiceline in mapuzungun "Leftraru iñche, chi lef traru. Pu mapuche feyentunienew. Eymi ka femaimi?" "I am Leftraru, the fast traro. The mapuche people have trusted me. Will you do the same?" "Yo soy Leftraru, el traro rápido. El pueblo mapuche ha confiado en mí. ¿Y tú, harás lo mismo?"
25:10 daaaaaamn imagine introducing yourself to someone by telling them right off the bat "snitches get stitches" and not even bothering to state your name.
This was nice, my PC has the computational power of a haggis so I turn off the animated cutscenes of the leaders, so never hear them talk. Just static images of them smiling at me, or scowling, to be fair.
The actor voicing Julius Caesar doesn't actually speak classical latin. He is instead using anachronistic, italicized version of it. Trajan's pronunciation on the other hand, is very good
Julius Caesar is using the ecclesiastical latin, a dialect used by the commoners and the clergymen, anachronistic for him since he was head of the Republic.
I hope they’ll add Catherine the Great or Ivan the Terrible for Russia (fun fact: Ivan wanted to marry Elizabeth I of England, but was obviously rejected. It will be funny a funny campaign if Ivan will be added)
I love these videos! It makes me want to learn about history and different civilizations. It's especially cool to hear the leaders speak in their native language.
the studio so weird. they add some modern "civilization" such as australia and canada but forget to add some truly old civilizations. i mean.. CANADA AND AUSTRALIA, NO NEED TO BE IN CIV GAME. it's literally just europeans conquering those lands. and i hope, in the future, civilization game will add that kind of feature. where we can be an independent nation and leave our old nation. like for example, we play as french empire, then we conquer a region in another continent. then we can choose to make a new nation in that new continent and the french empire we play will be an NPC. BUT we need to be ready for the incoming attack from that french empire. but the attack obviously should be based on our military power and economic condition and something before. so if we dont have any troops before, then, when we declaring a new nation, no attacks will come from our "old empire". but still need to be aware for the incoming attacks tho. maybe this "protect sovereignity" period will ends like.. in 30 turns or something. if we pass, we can truly be a new nation.
I think Indonesian need a update about King Hayam Wuruk, the great king and the most Famous in Majapahit Kingdom who Unified the Nusantara(Indonesia) and once win the battle against mongols
1. Raden Wijaya fought off the Mongols, not Hayam Wuruk 2. Gajahmada did most of the heavy lifting for Hayam Wuruk (and Gitarja before him) 3. Mitreka Satata was more like The EU than a monolithic 'true' empire like China
I'm from Guatemala and I constantly hear the different mayan languages spoken around here. It feel like Six Sky's VA was not a mayan native speaker. I can't tell why, but I recognize more of a spanish pronunciation of the mayan language
Exactamente. Al igual que con Moctezuma, llamaron a actores de voces no nativos para darles voz. Irwin Daayán fue Moctezuma y Carla Castañeda fue Señora Seis Cielo
Pedro is in almost all of my games and he always whines at me before i decide to conquer him lol, wish it didnt make me dislike him so much as i’ve been working on playing more of the civs now that i’m coming back to the game a few years later and i dont just play rome or alexander to conquer everyone
no. you just being overproud. indonesia there for example, literally the hotspot for many kind of invaders you can imagine in the eastern part of the world. dutch, british, japan, mongol, spanish, portuguese, indian.. and dont forget about middle east regions.
This video on peoples appearances is wrong u don’t know what anyone looked like at the time so why r u assuming they r dark skin or black the Babylonian king isn’t even black or brown we Chaldean today r not black or brown we r middle easterners with olive to white skin complexion
Yes unfortunately some of the newer released leaders have some slower animations (for whatever reasons). I find having a high refresh rate monitor helps mitigate it a little.
The design and style of leaders models are extremely noticeable, perhaps Firaxis should've kept their artists for the first 3 dlc packs. Anyway I hope in Civ 7 there will be less leaders but more civilizations and certainly, a lot of game balancing packs and new features. But the victory system must remain the same however, it's alright.
You can just see how the newest ones look so cheap and crap (Abraham Lincoln, Ramases the II, Julie Caeser etc.) compared to the older one. It’s one of the
In what world can they justify having Eleanor of Aquitaine and her far more influential husband Henry II, the father of Common Law?! Eleanor is fascinating, but she is so often overrated.
@@mirandabee2323 As it was in the 12th century, frankly. Henry II could easily have great legal perks or administrative abilities to represent his historical importance. Having an entire legal system as part your legacy that daily and directly impact the lives of hundreds of millions of people across the globe even eight centuries from your death is no meme.
Gorgo,Perikles and Alexandros need an update now. They speak greek like a f@^king anglos, while their actors are greeks. Both Byzantine rulers speak greek prefectly👌
Some of these countries could use a more recent or militarised leader. For the UK, Churchill would be an obvious choice, and so would De Gaulle for France. For Poland, maybe Pilsudski or Lech Walesa
Money is the reason. They needed to reach the Chinese market somehow, and, besides that, the Chinese Civ is the most popular in CIV VI, and this last Leader Pass was just based on popularity.
@@pablor.sepulveda9929 also china is really old and lore rich with different versions of china throughout history. So. China is one of few civs who deserve a good deal more leaders
If you notice carefully, you will realize that there are many Greek leader too,not just perlicles and queen gorgo but also include Alexander the Great, basil ii,Theodora as well as Ptolemaic version of cleopatra. They are all Greek!
Imagine making Hammurabi black just to be politically correct. He in no way was ever black nor had skin colour that dark. His skin tone was more closely related to what Saladins skin tone was or Jesus Christ skin tone. I find it funny because other games of sid meier's civilizations had him what was recorded to be white. Not as white as Cid2 portrayal, but others were close to what his skin tone would have been based on numerous records. I find it ironic and insultingly funny as well because, there were black rulers in the ancient times but I guess they weren’t much important if you have to change the skin tone of an ancient Arabian white ruler to a black one that looks like a Numidian Ruler.
They hired Laura Parmiani, an Italian actress certified in 10 different languages. Also, Catherine de Medici was not French but "Italian", so it would be historically well portrayed
It's not Sumerian bud Akkadian, the oldest known language, although was reconstructed. Both Cleopatras are the same but reskined. Eleanor is speaking Occitan since was the language she was born
There was probably a lot of guesswork going into Sumeria, Cleopatra was the only Ptolemaic ruler to actually speak Egyptian, and Eleanor was Occitain. English rulers were French nobility who spoke French more or less up to the 100 years' war.
@@pablor.sepulveda9929 Scratch what I said, it's my understanding that Eleanor didn't speak English even when she was Queen of England. Apparently her sons Kings Richard and John didn't either. My bad! Boy there goes my Robin Hood legends!
Why tf they chose Saladin to be the lader of Arabia he's nto even Arab there's relly intrasting Arabian rulers such as omar ibn adbulaziz or harun al Rashid 0:57
I don't know which Omar/Umar are you refer it, if The Prophet friend, No. If the other Umar/Omar I not quite sure but I ok with Harun Al Rashid but it seems you have race problem. Although I should expect this problem with some Arab people this day but people prefer race this day.
At least you are not us, as frenchies we did not get any important king nor Napoleon nor Charles de Gaulle. Charlemagne could have been great for germany and france
How can I "like" this balance of leaders in civilization 6: China has 5! leaders, England 4, the rest have less known civilizations, 3 or 2 each. But in the meantime, Spain, Poland,Sweden and Russia with their 1 leader: 😐👍, 😐👍,😐👍
I think you're counting the reskins of some leaders as separate civs, so england has 3 and china has 4. China has by far one of the biggest pool of interesting historical figures, given that it's a very ancient society where so much has changed over the centuries. I mean Kublai Khan is closer to our time than he is to Qin Shi Huang, so it's fair that they get to have 4 civs as for england, it's probably because they have a lot of popular and influential queens. I definitely agree with russia deserving another civ though, would love seeing someone more modern in history like Lenin
@@garra123454 Canada is lucky they got in the game at all, complete Reddit civ with an absolutely whitewashed ability. Still insane to me they add Pouncemaker and the Cree only to then add Laurier's "just too heckin' peaceful" Canada as if the latter wasn't founded on the domination and displacement of the former.
Leaders represent the nation they led, not necessarily the one they personally hailed from (and even then, the place he was born was only absorbed into France hundreds of years after he died). And Barbarossa was crowned king of Germany (as well as the rest of what was East Francia and the Holy Roman Empire). While he did negotiate with various leaders of France, he was never one himself as far as I know.
Yes he was, you are thinking of Charlemagne(though he was a Frank, not French). Having said that, I still don't know that I would have him lead the German faction. While yes he was king of Germany(as well as being the king of Italy and the King of Burgundy), he was predominately emperor of the HRE plus the emblem for the German faction being the Iron cross implies a Prussian origin to Germany not a HRE one. And as a side note the armour he wears is a few hundred years too modern.
spain was traslate wrong, he said "I am Philip (Felipe), king of spain and portugal. But, adobe everting else, we are debote of the only true religion"
We need more leaders for Russia. For example: Ivan IV the Terrible, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Alexander Nevsky, Alexander II the Liberator, Vladimir the Red Sun (or Saint), Ivan III the Great, Ivan I the Kalita (it means a Money Bag), Yaroslav the Wise, Svyatoslav the Brave, even Catherine II the Great (why not?¿?), or Elizabeth Petrovna, or Olga the Saint.
I'm sorry but any colonial country will always look ridiculous in this game, and I'm from one of them. And yes, I know the US was in the first game, it still looks silly.
The work is impressive, but there are some small errors in Spanish: Spanish says "Nos soy" but "nos" means "we". And Bolívar says "os da la bienvenida" when he should say "Os doy".
